Fedup with DIR-615 low signal and frequent drops. Went over to PC Fair and bought the TP-Link TL-WR841ND V7.1 router. A nice gentleman told me I could update the router with Unifi compatible beta firmware at their TP-Link Service Centre at 4th floor Low Yat Plaza. Took the newly bought router and head straight to the service centre. Within 3 minutes, the pleasant service personnel has completed the update and setup with instruction to use the quick setup CD to input: 1) Unifi Username. 2) Unifi Password. (Connections to router are similar to Kl Seet's diagram. Please refer to http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...&id=7&Itemid=6). Went home and setup the TP-Link TL-WR841ND V7.1 router as per service guy instruction and voila ; it works beautifully with excellent signal strength. My IPTV works fine and 4 to 5 bars of excellent wifi signal strenght. Many thanks to the hardwork of KL Seet, Rizvanrp, IceBrew and anyone else who have participated in this project. Not forgetting to thank TP-Link for making this happen. At least we have a workable alternative solution now.

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Apr 19 2011, 10:12 PM) Hey... People chose the easy way because dealing with TM is a piece of MESS. They degil enough and won't change the router so easily. And... If not to go the easy way, people are wasting their money paying the monthly bill yet can't enjoy them. In long run, they lose more than going the "hard" way. Get what I mean. My router so far so good... Just random disconnection once in few days... Fully agree with you and cannavaro. Moreover this is a personal decision of less than RM100.00 and not like "Fukushima's" multi-billion questions. It just like we have Bus/LRT services in Malaysia but why so many still have cars? BTW, not that we have not dealt with TM and wonder how long it would take to get them to change. Eventhough finally one morning when they wake up and change the router, will TM replace all existing routers?

QUOTE(hackwire @ Apr 20 2011, 09:50 AM) is it the router giving the problem ? is the tplink router got better changes after that?? enlighten us a bit.. im here to share info, not to create war zone and pls provide some facts and experience u had la. i keep reading that i agree with u , this and that .... we r not going to cast vote for iwangp or hackwire. there's no menace to insult anyone buying decision here. pls read and judge the overall input i share out rather than picking the one specific. No punt intended, bro. And neither picking on this "one specific". Just sharing my layman info. My agreement with some of the members' comments were based on my personal view and preference. Not meant to cast vote nor judge anyone. As a newbie will always appreciate yours and other members' contributions. On some of my layman feedback, when using DIR 615 router (on 1st floor) for last couple of months, used to get 2 or 3 bars out of 5 (on 2nd floor) with frequent drops. After changing to TP-Link router, I get at least 4 or 5 bars of signal out of 5. Experience musch faster download and page loading.
