My speed was always good in Sunway but it remains unstable too many disconnections.

I searched the forum, did not find so I am posting it..
I ALWAYS "occasionally" found my connection disconnect from the router wirelessly... wireless is still active, when this happens, I could NOT ping the Unifi d-link router and I had to Turn AirPort Off and Turn it On again.. I'm connecting to the d-link crappy wireless router using a mac.. Anyone else encountered this issue too ? It is just annoying, working okay one minute and the next minute no connection to the router... |

QUOTE(stan001 @ Apr 22 2011, 10:49 PM) I searched the forum, did not find so I am posting it.. I don't use Mac but I have the exact same problem over wifi.I ALWAYS "occasionally" found my connection disconnect from the router wirelessly... wireless is still active, when this happens, I could NOT ping the Unifi d-link router and I had to Turn AirPort Off and Turn it On again.. I'm connecting to the d-link crappy wireless router using a mac.. Anyone else encountered this issue too ? It is just annoying, working okay one minute and the next minute no connection to the router... I use my laptop in 2 locations in my house, both approximately of equal distance from the router. At one location, on average every 5 mins my internet "dies". The connection remains, I don't dc as such, but it gets cut off - browser won't load anything, not even text, downloads all go to 0. What follows is that it stays at 0/unable to browse websites for a few minutes or longer, and then it comes back, sometimes to really slow speeds (between 0 and 10+ KBps, perhaps), and eventually to higher speeds (half of bandwidth subscription or better) only to get cut off again or go to extremely low speeds. At the other location, so far I have tested for <1 day (today - other times I used the laptop at the first location but at a few hours each time), and I found that browsing may or may not have gotten "cut off" (because certain websites might not respond quickly, and some didn't) but downloads never did even once. This leads me to a lot of confusion, as at the first location with frequent cuts, bars are usually at 2 (superficial rebounds to 3-4 but it cuts at no matter what bar), while at the second (rather good) location (again, about same distance away), bars are 4 (with superficial rebounds to 5). What could explain this? |

WTF are they doing ? |

What could explain this? Sounds like your first location is "nearer" to other wifi networks (and possibly lower signal due to stuff between your pc and the router eg walls?) and therefore gets signal drops due to interference. |

QUOTE(Mikeshake @ Apr 23 2011, 01:18 AM) Same probleme here, 1st time happening since I have unifi. I don't watch a lot of IPTV, but at the rare times I did I didn't get cut. Same for phone. Internet does get cut extremely frequently at my poor location like I said, and not just split second cuts (lucky if the graph for downloads shows peak-trough-peak-trough, because most of the time it just dies/stays at 0 for ages). It's not a problem with your wifi it's a problem from them cuz internet get cuts, voip gets cuts, tv get cut, connection with lan via ps3 get cuts off as well. QUOTE(XPS @ Apr 23 2011, 01:41 AM) Sounds like your first location is "nearer" to other wifi networks (and possibly lower signal due to stuff between your pc and the router eg walls?) and therefore gets signal drops due to interference. Yes, at the first location other wifi networks are at much stronger signals (I just noticed this), and indeed more networks are usually detected. However, it is because I have been using my own wifi (either Streamyx, Maxis, or P1 WiMax, and now Unifi) for so long in the same location with no disruptions or signal issues that I did not think of things like these. Never had a problem with my Aztech router using Maxis 3G broadband (as you might know P1 WiMax and Streamyx have their own internet connection problems, period). As for walls, the location is in a room above so there is a walls and door/window, while the better location is below (not line of sight, because of ceiling/floor), so I didn't think this would matter. Thanks for your contribution. Sounds like this is a permanent problem to do with the DLINK POS. Bad news, because I HAVE to be able to use it from my usual spot. |

So it seems a user has suggested my wifi is bad at a certain location because of interference from other wifi networks (neighbours').
It does ocur to me that some networks have stronger signals at this particular location. Immediately if I move back to this place I get cuts, even though all the neighbours' signals are very weak. Is it at all possible to call TM and ask for some replacement router? Surely this is entirely the router's fault? |

Yes, you can call them, but if they agree to replace, you will end up with the same model with most likely the same problems. Why bother? It does ocur to me that some networks have stronger signals at this particular location. QUOTE So it seems a user has suggested my wifi is bad at a certain location because of interference from other wifi networks (neighbours'). No way its because of your neighbours , I have unifi for 2 months and it's happening at the same time for many users. It does ocur to me that some networks have stronger signals at this particular location.
