Hi sifus,
If I got more than 5 devices to connect (wired), the RG only has 4 ports to connect to, can I connect the 5th device to the BTU directly? I tried connecting my PC to BTU directly but it does not work, can't get online. Please advise. Thanks. |

Had my unifi installed on Sunday. Spent half a day the next day to digest and understand rizvanrp's blog, and changed the DIR-615 G2 (firmware 7.09) to VLAN bridge mode to connect to my existing WRT54GL.
I decided to try on method 2 without downgrading my firmware to 7.05, and it's working perfectly thanks for the guide rizvanrp ! |

QUOTE(rockccf @ Apr 20 2011, 12:56 PM) Hi sifus, Of course not. The BTU is just like a bridge. Dialer in still in that RG. Why don't you connect via wireless. If I got more than 5 devices to connect (wired), the RG only has 4 ports to connect to, can I connect the 5th device to the BTU directly? So far ok but I got 2 questions:I decided to try on method 2 without downgrading my firmware to 7.05, and it's working perfectly thanks for the guide rizvanrp ! 1. Why is the speed using LAN cable is lower than using wifi? When I connect directly to modem via LAN cable, it register 100Mbps and when wifi it register higher upto 130MBps. Is it due to cable limitation? I always cable will always be faster. 2. The technician mentioned that if the fiber cable has too many bends (ie. more than 3), the speed will be slower or might face connectivity problem. I can't get the answer whether is it true in the internet. Anyone got any idea? Fred |

QUOTE(tanghm @ Apr 19 2011, 10:42 PM) Welcome on board, every night it has been like this. It will surely get worse mind you, seeing how they push all out asking people to sign up. I just wrote them a mail asking for rebate, they inform they will only calculate the rebate after my case ID is closed. wonder if they calculate start from when I lodge the report or they already know something's wrong at their end at a certain date.Warning to those in Old Klang Road and Puchong area especially those who want to sign up, you will get <1mbps at 8pm+ everyday. Areas affected: OUG Tmn United Taman Desa Puchong Fuiyoh almost whole stretch of gardens around OKR is 0.7mbps download speed now ![]() ![]() Added on April 20, 2011, 1:39 pm QUOTE(alkt @ Apr 20 2011, 12:44 PM) Siebel, I put google dns in the router Have u try to PM rattan in this forum? btw guys, what DNS are u using? my DNS : 202.188.0.133 202.188.1.5 cheers! QUOTE(fredcwk @ Apr 20 2011, 01:25 PM) Installed VIP5 sunday. So far ok but I got 2 questions: 1. The difference is that wifi speed can vary.. sometimes it may fluctuate to < 100 Mbps depending on your location or how much data you are transferring or how many devices connected or your neighbour's wifi interfering.1. Why is the speed using LAN cable is lower than using wifi? When I connect directly to modem via LAN cable, it register 100Mbps and when wifi it register higher upto 130MBps. Is it due to cable limitation? I always cable will always be faster. 2. I can't get the answer whether is it true in the internet. Anyone got any idea? Fred 2. It is true that you should not bend fiber too much because it increases signal loss. However I'm not sure of the spec of the cables TM provides, but generally the bend radius should be at least a few cm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_fiber |
