Can someone explain in more details for me... I go through unifi website and read carefully their installation matter but I still confuse.

From my understanding they will pull another cable from the TM box to your house then will pull the fabric optic cable...ok this for landed but I'm staying in a high rise aka condominium.

The salesman told me that the installation will just pluck in from the existing telefon point. Isn't that for streamyx only?? another salesman told me they will pull another cable into my house and the cable will be expose or conceal in a ugly pvc trunking!! I dont want that

so please please i begging you all i need help sad.gif help the poor girl here..I didn't want any expose cable to been seen since I just move in with complete renovation done.

U stay in condo right... Means the same way as streamyx. Just from then wall socket. They will disconnect ur streamyx and connect unifi to that socket from outside. No worries xD. If you're still worried, confirm with those contractor before they come or confirm with TM before you subscribe.

For condo, straight forward installation - using your current copper cable (telephone RJ11 port). Telekom has already terminated their fibre optic at your condo riser. Technician will patch here to your unit. Then proceed to your home. all less than 10min job.

Now you gotta find your RJ11 port at yr home, usually may have more 1 port (living room/study room).

VIP package consists of BTU, Dlink router, VOIP & IPTV.
Gotta decide whether to use IPTV, if no using would less devices & all near the port.

This will be minimum devices & no extra cables flying around.

Hi, just a couple questions. Would be awesome if anyone can answered!

1. Why my TV volume becomes so loud whenever it enters Commercial?

2. I have a fax, it was running well (means, when fax came in, it will automatically cut off after 5 rings), until I installed Unifi, it keeps on ringing, i.e. failed to receive fax; otherwise I have to manually press the "receive" button.

Thank you.

Hi there,
I am in Bdr Puteri and have been facing terrible speeds in the evenings for the last couple of weeks. Called Unifi and was told server problem due to migration. Other time I called they said cable problem. Called yesterday, they said have to check dunno what is happening - Different people giving different answer. Half the time no one picks up the damn line for my complaint. Hope they fix it soon cos it's really pissing me off. I am tempted to file official complaint with MCMC. Why do we have to pay in full when they don't fulfil their end of the contract. Pure BS.

1. Business men tactics for advertising and cronies get away all the time.
Louder volume to get your attention.

2. If the old telephone is important to you, do not cancel your service and retain it.
Unifi's VoIP service is inferior to POTs. It gets cut off in the event of blackout, does not allow conventional fax, dial out and retaining of your old number.
If the telephone is important to you where you need to make emergency or receive urgent calls, PAY for your basic telephone service.

Actually managed to speak to someone who works inside TM. He said there are so many complaints already, so mine will be just another piece in their already big pile of sh*t. He laughed when I told him abt complaining to MCMC - it'd be a case of same shit, different toilet. Just did another speedtest, now running@ 0.23Mbps. Damn, my grandma can deliver messages faster! LOL!

He also said that we can actually ask for rebates if we complain to the billings department with proof of slow speeds. Can anyone advise how I can monitor the speed automatically in list form instead of having to screen capture fr speedtest every time. Thanks.

Hope everyone else is having better connections...

Guys I just got Unifi today and I have some questions, hope you can help:

Ok so at the start I switched on a laptop just after installation on ground floor (my house has 2.5 stories). It was very slow, but it worked.

At the same time I switched on a laptop on the top floor (so approximately the same distance away from the router as the previous laptop, because the router is on the middle floor). It was also very slow.

Now the people told me it is like this, it takes some time to stabilise. Soon after, the laptop on the ground floor was working fine, not 100% stable, but downloading fast, surfing ok. It sort of disconnected (not sure why) for a while but came back on.

On the other hand, the laptop on the top floor had an erratic connection. It would be very, very slow at surfing, and for downloads it would get fast initial speeds, then die (0 KBps) after a few sec/mins. After a while, though, it managed to stabilise and get good speeds (seeing 3MB and hitting 4, 5, 6MB).

However, right now, it is super slow at browsing (not tried downloading again). Reception bar fluctuates between 2 and 3 and 4 (mostly 2, sometimes 3). How slow? Took me more than a few refreshes and a lot of hassle and delay to load this lowyat forum text webpage! Most pages timeout.

My questions are:

1. Is this normal for a new Unifi user (i.e. will this go away shortly/eventually)?

2. Why is one laptop working great while the other is suffering terribly right now despite being usable earlier in the evening, though both are equally far from the router (moreover, the laptop I am having problems with is newer)?

1. Not that I had noticed. I actually ran speedtests to local and US reference sites when the installation was complete and TM contractors were there with me.

2. My guess is a combination of DIR-615 having weak signals and walls, furniture etc may have different effects on signals. Also too many wifi networks in most urban homes nowadays and the fact the 2.4Ghz spectrum supports only 3 bands. Anything more is going to have some interference big or small. Some vendors 802.1n routers uses dual channels ie. 2 bands which makes it even more congested. Your other option is to go to the 5Ghz spectrum which is free from congestion at the moment.

guys, i got a question for u all

normally after u apply for the connection, how long does it take for the contractor/ TM staff to come to ur house and setup the connection ?

i applied on 12th April and they sent me an e-mail that my appoinment is on 20th May, this is too long as the reseller promised me that the connection will be up and running in 2 weeks after i applied.

Im living in a student hostel and gettin it to share with all the housemates. The date they give me , we all finish holidays and start college again d... We NEED to get it up and running in the next 3 weeks time.
