That custom firmware is meant for UniFi only and do not have the option to change the vlan & re-map like the DIR-615.
You may consider the RB250GS or RB750/750G if  you want to re-rag or re-map ports.

Well, whether it's beta or custom, that firmware is good to use for UniFi now  nod.gif
I don't really bother whether it's released officially by TP-Link and/or certified by TM  icon_rolleyes.gif

Assuming you are talking about the Huawei HG850a GPON for landed property, there is really nothing much to play around, it's TM's property, better don't around or mess with it.  If you still want to go-in, do some search on past postings wink.gif

I have my unifi since April 2011, so far ok but I don't monitor the speed every day.

I am suspicious whether TM guys really uses fiber optic from the TM box to the house because in my connection they pull a black cable from the TM box to a "connection box" before connecting a white fiber cable.

I scrape the covering of some thrown black cable and found white metal inside.

see my picture attached: Pic1 is the black cable (sorry blurry, snap with my h/phone) and pic2 is the external box.

Does anyone know anything?

Huh, suspicious?
Just because it is black, already suspicious? doh.gif

Normally, it is black fibre cable until your DB.
Black one got metal inside, and being used for external wiring generally, as you need some metal that enable to pull (can be stressed up) the wire along the pole.
The white one is "soft" as compared to black one.

It is really fibre cable lah.

Any idea for me to change the router?
I found out that the orange Dlink Router not good, poor wifi, poor LAN connection.
Can't use NAS Storage, bloody slow transfer rate.
Any Router can support Unifi that have Gigabit Port & High Transfer rate like media streaming, gaming?

...Does it make much difference that my side is biz-5 package.
... so is there anywhere to purchase this DIR-615 router?
The vlan tagging is the same for both VIP (home) & BIZ (company) package, only think it's VIP home has additional vlan.600 for IPTV.

I don't think you can get the DIR-615 Gx at retail market except from TM, I guess that's the reason they are trying to protect their "business" cool2.gif

For me, I personally prefer to go with RB750 or RB750G (Gigabit) for some key reasons:
- the RB750/750G is really robust with tons of features & functions, Linux base, frequent firmware upgrade & it's really easy "drag n drop" through WinBox;
- can just leave it on together with BTU 24hrs permanently;
- use any existing wifi router or buy own prefer wifi to configure as AP, only switch on if needed;
- wifi upgrade may be inevitable, so moving forward only consider wifi bandwidth upgrade without the hassle of re-setup router gateway again, who knows by end of this end the 450~500MB become more popular and affordable ?!

Anywhere, just my personal preference, take your time to evaluate and choose the right combination base on your requirement icon_rolleyes.gif

Worrying about our weather here, I purposely requested them to pull the hard casing all the way and installed the DB inside my house tongue.gif

the wire(metal) is use as reinforcement and also to tie the cable at the pole and also at the roof/building(like mine)

the fiber is very2 fine....

user posted image

inside the white box, just connector only.... in fact the just can use the black cable directly i think, but not very practical....

Haha... that's my case also. The router got "auto restart" function which helps u to get new ip every 2-3 days. Awesome right??? LOL

Why don't you try asking the Landasan guys about it? IIRC there was someone here who said that the Landasan fellas went out of their way to help him set up his unifi with the RB750.. or was it Soliton? hmm.gif

it was landasan... but they weren't quite familiar with the rb750 as they are more towards wireless deployment.. so it took them some time to figure it out..

but all and all its was okie.. good experience for them as they can add another source of revenue smile.gif heheheheh

last week unifi ppl came over my house but then they can't do it due to that TM gave them all the wrong detail including the login ID and password for them to setup the connection , which including address,
the only thing correct was name and mobile.

but then when they try to install the cable , the white box was kinda on the button of the pole, almost as high as a adult height.

they said the white box should be at the above the pole, it would be out of budget for them to pull the cable up then direct it to my house.

weird.
