Hi guys, this is my first post at lyn so if tersalah cakap, please shoot puas-puas ya biggrin.gif And I also dunno if this is the appropriate place to post this. I just had to share my excitement with everyone before it goes away. Anyway, I just installed some sound dampening mats (STP Gold bulk of 10s) & sound absorber(the cotton OEM Honda kind; forgot what it's called hehe) for my car floor at EA Autoworks today. The job took 5 hours and I've attached some pictures below.

So far, while driving home, I've already noticed a significant drop in road noise (Howie said "give it a few days for the silence to seep in") and I can converse more easily with a passenger at my side thanks to that cotton OEM mat. The people at EA Autoworks are a friendly bunch and will gladly answer any sort of questions thrown at them. I was also worried that these mats will be heavy but Howie reassured me saying that he has +-100kgs of sound proofing mats on his ride in exchange for peace of driving. Well as the saying goes, silence is golden.

As you can see, its quite bare to start with.

The poison.

Almost there. At this point Howie was joking that he undercharged me for this trouble. Aiya no sweat la bro, you pro ma notworthy.gif

Not necessary bro, soundproofing is just to deal with the problem.. It is not a formula to follow on.

Some ppl just soundproof fenders only because tire noise is their concern.

honda floors are HORRIBLE. nuff said lol.

if you've ever sat in a honda car before (city/civic at least), you'll instantly notice how noisy the tire/road noise can be

To answer that question, I have already done my doors with an unbranded product from another shop and I don't find much difference from it. I figured if I do floor, the difference will be more significant. Now that I know of Howie's workmanship, I just might as him to strip down my doors and reapply the silent STP Gold ^^

Ahahha so what the goss/badmouthing about ? tongue.gif
Indeed, a City even with 16" tyres are already unbearable. 17" like a war in progress! Need to change tyres for further noise reduction I guess but I drive slow, so not much tyre wear... blush.gif

wow real nice .. looks like the new City really bare on the floor.

How about the roof ? cuz i heard many saying that its real noisy when raining. I am getting a City soon, looks like soundproofing is a must on my list already.

Actually, which part inside a car that we can do sound proof? So far i know is 4 doors, roof top, dashboard, and at the bottom. Is that all? What about the tyre side? (called maggat area..) If we are able to sound proof all areas, it will be like driving in a vacuum with total silence? : )

even if you sound proof the whole car... you still wont be driving in total silence...

80% mayb achievable... but thats a hell lot of sound proofing already... depending on what ride of course...

and the other thing is... too much sound proof... then you might face the problem where your music being absorb by the sound proofing material as well... in the end... you created a new problem... smile.gif

Yeah, i guess we wont achieve 100% sound proof. especially for my car. But 80% is tempting enough already : ) New problem arise from over sound proofing eh? I see. Maybe like over frequency/sound pressure inside one car with no exit causing damage to your ear? Just a thought...

Vacuum?... Then how la you going to breath while driving??? tongue.gif

No la, not possible to have total noise reduction... Your window is a source of noise too.

Proper soundproofing is enough to get rid of the noise from outside....while you enjoy what's inside..... biggrin.gif

if the sound proofing and sound deadening is done right, it wont create much prob...Some car with fully sound deadening will feel dizzy when sitting inside...that's done by wrong material, area of treatment and quantity used....so at the end, adding more is not the right choice and we rather adding to be effective.

In that case, recommended place for sound proof will be? Whole car (door, floor, roof, dashboard, rear bonnet) or just doors and floors? Since the quality material doesnt come cheap cry.gif
