neway... which club are you going to be working in? or do you mean you are going to join us here?

Nah I mean I'm joining the Singapore LYN 'club' hehe. Got a verbal confirmation from the new company, finance line, 80k/year. But don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch, will wait for HR to give offer letter first.

That's great!
What's the position if you dont mind?

beside looking at the salary, u also have to consider the political stability, inflation rate, increment, 'safety', career and promotion.
I will prefer option (B).... political stability (stable), inflation rate (4~6%), increment (4~12%), 'safety' (low criminal rate), career (most of the mnc r regional hq/brighter future) and promotion (oh ya, u have work double hard as u r earning double currency + other competitors from china, india, and phillipines).

If u love to travel a lot, option (B) is a good-to-go and you wouldn't feel pain when u travel to Aus/Japan/US/Euro/etc...^^

The real issue when it comes to question working in Malaysia or Singapore, is standard of living vs quality of life. Of course this does not apply to expatriates.

Common room means a bedroom in an apartment (usually a govt type which we called HDB flats) without attached toilet.

common room at least could stay 3 people in a room.

Does the landlord know about this?

QUOTE(mea05key @ Apr 11 2011, 08:31 PM)
I think its good to venture away from ones comfort zone especially at young age to gain more working and life experience. A good pay can be a good motivating factor to work harder and ignore some of the miseries of being away from home. But I doubt I will be staying in Singapore for good in my life - looking at somewhere less stressful , for that case Malaysia is wonderful.

I gave up on Malaysia. Maybe Aussie, NZ.

OMG!R u kiddin me?!400sgd for both food n transport?!Cant be dat cheap right? shocking.gif
U muz be stayin nearby ur ofiz? hmm.gif
Say 12sgd 1day for food...12 x 30 = 360 loh...u oni spend 40sgd for transport?!! shocking.gif

My rough estimation is food - 500 or 600sgd, transport - 300sgd. << Was thnkin, if datz da case,i cant be savin much d.  cry.gif
M xpectin da worst anyways.
*
300 for transport is overkilled. I could have taken cab to work everyday with that.

Bus/MRT in singapore is cheap yet efficient. I'd say 100 bucks is enough unless you're staying at Changi and work at Tuas.

Room near MRT is very important...10 mins walk is quite OK. Busses are horrible because they can be very slow sometimes, especially if you stay in the suburbs. Around Lakeside you can get a decent single room for $450 including PUB.
Most owners won't object to you boiling water to make noodles or porridge. If it involves frying or anything to do with oil, more difficult as it can be very oily (I have met many owners that are very particular about cleanliness zzz). But to be honest, eat a 2 veg 1 meat meal is only $3 here, that's quite healthy than anything you can do at home for a similar budget for 1 person. Singapore is not Australia or the UK, where eating out can easily cost a small fortune.
Wah what kind of weekend is that? Open bottle type? =). Anyone interested to have a TCSS session at Brewerkz? The atmosphere there damn nice.

I normally hang out at Harry's bar. They have a lot of branches, and there is 1 in Clarke Quay and 1 in Boat Quay.

i appealed after getting my bonuses and salary increment.  smile.gif

im not sure, it could be due to im still new (< 2 years working experiences), perhaps my low salary  cry.gif , i moved to another place in June 2010 (residential)...neway, just my guesses, i could be wrong.
*
This is very important for most of us here, also future applicants:
1. How long has you been staying/working in Singapore, since the first job?
2. What kinda pass are you holding?
3. Which sector/industry are you in?

your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I do get corporate rates from Singtel, Starhub and M1. depending on the plans, the discounts range from 20% to 40% off monthly bills. Also comes with waiver for simcard registration fees, caller ID, and some other small perks. So are those 3G broadband on mobile thing.

hello people, I was away for 1 week and just notice that there is a gathering going on. Browsed through previous pages and the current plan is something like shopping at jusco, seafood dinner? This would be really great. Any seat left? I'm from Pasir Ris by the way.

I'm interested to join, but i have to check my duty schedule first.

i believe with limited resources, it is better to buy what you need and what you can afford..  like me and i believe most msians can only afford hdb, but for me ultimate goal is the cheapest private property with the largest area, so i can get another property as an investment...

3 room flat means 2+1? is there such a thing as 4 bedroom flat? because if there's i would like to get one to bring my whole family here..
*
3 rooms flat means 2 rooms and 1 living room. 4 bedrooms flat translates to 4+1, which also called "5 rooms style" in direct chinese translation

Or,

you can get any internet phone package that comes with a number and a data plan. Sell the phone to offset the cost of your new phone. keep using the line and data plan. I'd say iPhone plan might works better in this case because the resell value of iphone is higher

guys, if any of you shopping for headphones/earphones/whatever, highly recommend this shop named Jaben, 4th floor Adelphi (city hall mrt there). super friendly owner, and best part is you can sit as long as you like and try all the headphones/earphones as you like until you find a pair that suits you.

You must be speaking of Uncle Wilson.
