Hi all,
I have got a question as I was called by head hunter for a phone interview.
Since the position is based in Singapore, she asked me for my asking salary.
I have read in this forum that, the reference is minus 25% of your Malaysian salary but the get pay in Singaporean dollar? Right? So this is on top of the SGD1300 living expenses?

Please let me know if the calculation is correct.

Thank You

yeaps, gross estimate according to a experienced forumer here... what do you mean by on top of living expenses?

and living expenses is subjective..
*
Meaning salary in SGD after -25% plus 1300SGD living expense

I checked that single room rental is about 700 + Transport 80 and meals about 400

Does the SG job have the same job description as your current job? If it's practically the same, and in the same type of company or industry - then I would ask for the same salary as your current (in S$) as a minimum. Why would you voluntarily factor in -25% when the fact is that they called you, not you call them.

If the job is significantly different, ask the recruiter what the salary range and average salary is for a job of that nature in SG. Do this BEFORE telling him what your current salary or expected salary is. Also ask around, ask your friends, colleagues and your network in the industry.

Right? So this is on top of the SGD1300 living expenses? Please let me know if the calculation is correct.

Since when is your salary based on a "cost plus" formula? Don't even bring up living expenses with the recruiter or hiring manager unless it is in the context of ADDITIONAL relocation allowances ONLY. If you bring this up in a salary negotiation, then I know automatically you have no idea what you should be paid.

Ok thanks, If that is the case I will try to ask for dollar to dollar. I just read in forum that the reference is -25%.
Let's see how it goes.

Yes you are right again, i will nego a total package including allowances rather than itemizing.

Thanks yo

Hi all,
I have question on how to fill up the disembarkation card,
http://www.ica.gov.sg/data/resources/docs/...s/DE%20Card.pdf

Please refer to the link and can anyone advice me what to fill up at the center portion of the card that says,
1) Place of residence
2) City, State, Country

For this part do i fill up my Malaysian address or Singapore Address?
I'm confused.

Thank You

Tumpang a bit. Is it in SGD or MYR?
1. Place of residence is just a tab. You do not have to fill in anything.
2. City = Shah Alam, State = Selangor, Country = Malaysia

Source : I been to Singapore 100 times.

Hahaha, thanks yo....got it...

Hi all,
I have questions as I will be driving to Singapore this coming Friday. I expect to be at the Causeway at about 11pm Friday.

1) Do you think it's jam on 11pm Friday at Causeway (or should i use 2nd link?)
2) Do i Need to pay ERP on Sat, Sunday and Monday (Public Holiday)?
3) Where is the nearest Mobil/Esso before entering Singapore at Causeway?

Sorry for the many questions, first time driving into the Republic.

Do remember to buy the VEP card. It's illegal to drive in without it.
The VEP counter can be easily missed. I missed it once went in and drive back out to johor and come in again.
The counter is just immediately after they passport verifying counter but before the car inspection.

I would call them but maybe 3-4 weeks, instead of 2 weeks.
Sometimes it works like a reminder and also it shows ur interest to follow up and to go get wat u want. HR staff sometimes dun really care about the urgency, since their perfromance is not measured on whether ur hired or not.
Yes, it may sound desparate, but if they take advantage of it and offer low salary, then u still can reconsider and negotiate.
Of course at the same time apply other job lar.

Thanks for the reminder.

Wanna ask further, when i reach Malaysian Immigration, do park my car and all my passengers go to the building to do the passport thingy or it's like drive though? Is Singapore Immigration also the same? I will remember to bring my Road Tax slip, car insurance, and registration card, and driving license. Let me know if i miss anything.

Thanks ya

Hopefully I get hired smile.gif as I like the lifestyle there.
But I'm unsure on the working lifestyle there though, especially in semicon engineering industries. Anyone had any idea?

Hopefully i dont end up living like a bangla
