Another option which what I did when I first came to work in SG.  I rented a hotel room in JB for the weekend (Sat-Sun).  On Saturday morning, I went into SG and got myself the Straits Times.  Look at the rental section and started calling.  I know it's a pain but I managed to get my room that way.  Relying on the internet is fine but I think this is one effective but I do waste a lot of time.  Sometimes, when you call up the agent, they will tell you that there is a room that just vacated and it is not even advertised.  I have gone through Yishun, AMK, Bishan, Toa Payoh before I found one in Bishan previously and this room is not even advertised yet.  I drove in during the weekend and a GPS is really helpful when you are not familiar with the roads in SG.
thank you for the heads up.. appreciate it a lot.. smile.gif

anyway... around AMK area, where is the cheapest HDB?

Thanks!

You are planning to rent the whole flat?  Well, base on my experience, the distance from MRT to the HDB plays an important part.  Also, the condition of the flat as well.  You will need to go have a look to determine what suits you.  What I suggest you to do is to come down here the weekend or two weekend before you start your job and hunt.  You might be spending a whole two days to do that. However, I believe that will be worthwhile in the long run.

Sat NST.

But no point calling 2-3 days in advance.  They will only entertain if u wana c the unit today or at most tomorow.

Internet not really accurate. most of the time i call, they say already rented out, even on the same day they advertised!!

U can use internet as reference of the prices.
But to really rent, u have to do ur home work fast erly in the morning and and start calling around 10-11am. just like playing the stock mkt.
If u say wana start renting next 2 months they won't entertain oso, cos owner won't hold for u extra months.

It may be good also u come down few weeks before u really wana rent to get a feel of how does HDB flats and rooms looks like, and pretend u wana rent it immediately. then find some excuse to say u dun like the place.

Really appreciate the time u put into the reply! notworthy.gif

Thanks for the advise. smile.gif

The medical checkup would include your blood report n that mini chest x-ray right? Will probably take 1 working day normally
