hi.. my wife is in this situation now. she has two offers in hand, two also well known MNC company..
1st company: they ask her to sign letter offer first, then only apply for her EP
2nd company: they will apply her EP first, if EP approve only sign LO
we are more incline to the 2nd company due to the job profile, pay and location. however, we are concern that if her EP got rejected, they wont appeal for her since she havent sign LO.
will this be the case?
and also the election is around the corner, will the EP approval get stricter?
thanks...

hi, i have a question here regarding the home broadband. we are planning to sign up the starhub max online. however, we are only renting a room. i can see that there is a starhub SVC square thing in my room and the tenant is not using any broadband service and the port for internet at the spliter is available.
so my question is, can i use the internet port to subscribe to maxonline? do i need to get the tenant's consent and etc? i have asked a few starhub shop but everyone is giving me different answer. some saying i need to get the tenant's consent letter and some saying only the tenant himself can sign up.
anyone experience this before? thanks.

QUOTE(crapp0 @ May 6 2011, 08:26 AM) You'll need to either work in the marine or construction line as a general labourer to get the "bangla" living status. $150-200 for their dormitories which they usually share 4 guys in a single room. Added on May 6, 2011, 8:32 amYes you can use the SCV. Not sure about tenants consent but it would be a safe option to inform the landlord you are going to apply and if there is anything you need from the landlord on their end on how to proceed, if necessary. You mean "the landlords" consent letter right since your the tenant? There isnt any problem for the tenant to sign up since the contract is tied to your name and not the landlords, its just the premise which you are currently occupying that you want 2 apply the broadband for. Most if not all landlord would prefer that the tenant apply for his/her internet since its one less thing to worry about. thanks. actually the SCV is for home broadband or TV only? or in order for the home broadband to function, i need both the SCV and internet port? thanks...

QUOTE(crapp0 @ May 6 2011, 10:58 AM) SCV in multi function. Its used for both cable tv and cable modem. One cable to rule them all. I dont know about the tv part since im currently on starhubs cable modem internet service, i didnt sign up for their cable tv since i dont watch tv so often since my work schedule is erratic most of the time. ok. clearer now. last question, so with the SVC in my room, i can subscribe to the home broadband. do i still need the telephone port from the splitter? thanks.

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Jun 6 2011, 11:20 PM) Thanks bros I'm now deciding between M1 and Starhub cable broadband... then will go to IT Show this week to check out best deals... M1 still can find 6 months contract but Starhub minimum is 2 years... i am staying at ang mo kio and using starhub maxonline now. to my surprise, i am experiencing FREQUENT disconnection. it is a CABLED broadband which i thought this should not happen. the speed is quite ok though. my package is 16mbps and max download rate i got is 600kbps...

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Jun 7 2011, 08:59 AM) It depends on the speed on the other end. I usually download my internet shows and i get around 1.2mbps consistently. Torrents varies around 300-600kbps. my torrent can only run for like 15 mins and my line will be cut off, disconnected. i suspect they are controlling torrent downloads. have u ever face the same problem?

QUOTE(paranoid @ Jun 7 2011, 11:14 AM) if you normally sleep with a/c, then you need. it's not that hot until u can die and not sleep. i keep myself busy all the time. most of the time you're somewhere at the mall, office, etc.. i can live without 24hours of a/c. u want free a/c (aunty style?) when u do ur laundry hang your clothes in your room with fan on. it'll be like a/c not controlling torrents, i have the same problem last time. it will dc every 15-30min, when u click refresh, it connects back immediately. it's like the line gets chopped off every now and then. i can never play dota with that line.. lol u can actually call and complain, they'll replace your modem for you. i tried calling them before, but waited for 15 mins no answer. i will walk in to their vivo outlet later since i am working at the next building only. btw, after replacing the modem, u still face any disconnection problem? and the replacement will be provided on the spot?

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Jun 7 2011, 01:52 PM) Nope, so far on starbhub maxonline 16mbps, i do not experience any cut off period so far. Thats cable. Mobile broadband is a different story. I used to have a M1 line and iniatially they didnt restrict torrents but after 16 months into my contract they started throttling the hell out of torrenting whereby you cant download anything at all. Talk about an over exaggeration but all ISP nowadays have a clause which state they can basically do anything they want which contradicts their them giving you the speed which you pay for but control what you do with it which is actually part and parcel of the internet. Its like saying "you can have your cake but you cant eat it". But i dont so much torrenting nowadays since you can watch netflix with a paid subscription and their tv and movie library are fantastic. Since its streaming video, most ISP's dont block the protocols so its smooth sailing. thanks. this morning alone (~30 mins) i have experienced 2 times of disconnection. this is what i am thinking as well, a cabled connection should not experience so frequent disconnection. i will drop by their outlet at vivo city later. see what's their comment on this issue.

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Jun 13 2011, 03:33 PM) Of course you have to expect that you may get disconnected on a mobile broadband plan. A cable connection is always the best for speed and reliability. The only reason you would want mobile broadband is mobility and not being tied to a house in singapore. true. if this happens on mobile broadband then i have nothing to complaint. but cabled broadband also can be so frequent... aih..
