Hi people,
I need some help here. Will be working in Wilkie Edge on 01/09/2011.
I have totally no idea where is the most ideal place to stay. Affordable rental, and clean environment, which is quite near to my office.
MY friend suggested Little India. Is it ok?

Hi, would like to know whether it is safe to stay in Kallang area, especially that my job requires me to go home late?
Thanks.

Lolz...cause I saw that Kallang area rooms are relatively cheaper than other areas. So I was just kinda wondering whether its some dodgy area not.
I need to look for somewhere near the Purple line.

Added on June 15, 2011, 4:25 pmWhat's the difference, Kallang and Whapoa?

I'll check out the system map again.
Do you have any better suggestion?

Hi,
I will be working at Wilkie Edge, and it is within walking distance from Dhoby Ghaut. Therefore, Punggol and Sengkang area would be slightly too off for me.

Yup, I'm looking into Boon Keng, but whenever I google Boon Keng room for rent, it'll lead me to Kallang =.='''

For me, i like Red and Green line MRT as compare to Circle or Purple line. Red and Green line MRT is bigger and their air-cond is much cooler.
the down side is, green and red line is always pack like sardine. But even when u sardine, u can still feel the air-cond nicely.
If i were you I might stay in Toa Payoh (hear ppl say a lot good food) or Ang Mo Kio (I love this neighborhood, very complete and have everything we need) area.
*
OOohhh..I also just realise, actually I can stay at Toa Payoh...
Do you all reckon to rely on agent to look for room, or I should personally head down on my own? sweat.gif

Someone told me to do that too. By the time I resign here, I'll be left with a week to look for a room. So I'll need to go see, and move in there and then. sad.gif

Why are most of my friends working in Singapore depressed?
One of my friend who just graduated and now working in NUH said this:
"Working life here sucks. Room small small, old old, rental so damn expensive. Pay low. Working hours insane."
Lolz..I hope not everyone experience the same thing.

ALL my outstation classmates at Taylor's College were depressed, in that's the definition of depression. All of us were not from KL, just finished SPM, never been away from home before... suddenly have to rent a little room (a couple of us even did a Harry Potter ie. rented the utility cupboard underneath the staircase), cook/buy our own meals, find our own way to school, manage our own budget, organise our own lives etc... basically take care of ourselves.

That my friend, is called growing up.

Lolz..I have been away from home since 7years ago.
My friend has been studying in Sgp since 5yrs ago! And she just came out to work for less than half a month. and now she's so depressed. lolz. Maybe I should introduce her this forum. icon_idea.gif

According to news reports, there are more job openings in singapore then applicants. Why not try since alot of companies are now headhunting for people rather then the other way around.

Just curious anyone travel back to KL on 1st Jul and back on 3rd Jul by car? Tried firstcoach and aeroline all fully booked sad.gif Have not tried fivestars yet..

Five star sucks. I had very bad experience.
Horrible driver. No manners.
Sat the bus at 7.30am reach Singapore at 3pm. Nearly miss my interview.
No jam. No queue at the immigration place.
The driver kept flirting with a group of "look like school drop-out" girls. That refuse to get up the bus, playfully pushing and shoving each other, whenever the bus stop for breaks.
If you're planning to sit that bus. All the best.

Still, one must not overspend till there are no saving at all.

I thought when a company agree to hire you, they will process the work permit for you.and only when it is approved, that you come over?

Hey guys, i went thru some of the job application in jobstreet, many of it indicated that they want singaporeans or pingapore pr in their jobs.

Is it true that most of the big company think twice before hiring people from malaysia?

Thx

Many of my friends manage to land a job in Singapore.
From people with SPM qualifications only...to people with Master qualification.
Nobody seem to have difficulties. Unless they are picky with what's offered.

Why don't you call them up? Or email them?
I just got in one. And recently heard other friends who just secured an interview.
