Well, unless if one enjoy office politics, one can suck one's way up.
If not, one would at least need to work a tad bit harder as time goes.

Sorry if you feel offended but I find that line utterly stupid.
If we were to say it is not worth it, you were not going to work harder so that you can continue staying where you are?

Hi,
I will be working at Wilkie Edge, and it is within walking distance from Dhoby Ghaut. Therefore, Punggol and Sengkang area would be slightly too off for me.

Yup, I'm looking into Boon Keng, but whenever I google Boon Keng room for rent, it'll lead me to Kallang =.='''

For me, i like Red and Green line MRT as compare to Circle or Purple line. Red and Green line MRT is bigger and their air-cond is much cooler.
the down side is, green and red line is always pack like sardine. But even when u sardine, u can still feel the air-cond nicely.
If i were you I might stay in Toa Payoh (hear ppl say a lot good food) or Ang Mo Kio (I love this neighborhood, very complete and have everything we need) area.

kallang is in Geylang area lo. so beware of which lorong u enter. scare later u enter the wrong house tongue.gif.
Are you a guy or a girl? if guys then nvm la, worst come to worst also ppl say u go cari ayam.
if girls, someone might come over and ask u for your price. hahahha

one of my colleagues said that geylang got "code" one, the lorong number will roughly correspond to (1) whether got ayam or not and (2) what country the girls are from ... haha!

was during dinner at the beef noodle & frog leg porridge place that he said that biggrin.gif

@yinyum/ivan: not so hard to plan one. within your industry/company/job scope, you look upwards you will also know agak agak how high you need to climb in order to achieve your target $$. so the question then is just building whatever needed education, qualifications, certifications, experience, and skills so that you can rise to that target.

example i'm currently sort of a hybrid IT/projects/finance line. in order to sit in my boss place, i need experience in running projects and some sort of formal qualification - either PMP or MBA in Proj Mgmt. The former will come naturally in my current role, the latter I need to plan with regards to sacrificing time & money & effort to get that qualification. Then after that it's a matter of looking for opportunities, whether it's within the same company or elsewhere.

Not for his customers, maybe... for the undertaker - earning more is better.

Why would a teacher or lecturer be better off earning less?

QUOTE(r1v3r)
minister
As above. What's the upside for a minister to earn less?

OOohhh..I also just realise, actually I can stay at Toa Payoh...
Do you all reckon to rely on agent to look for room, or I should personally head down on my own? sweat.gif

My suggestion:
Do some research thru internet to gauge the pricing. I can't rmbr the website, but u can check the first page of this forum.
Then come 3 days, starting Friday morning, buy newspaper and start calling. 90% of the time the advert is thru agent. That doesn't mean u just 'rely' on one agent.
Agent or not has its pro and cons, as discuss/argued in this forum. So just go with flow, and whichever unit u fell is rite.
Btw, make sure u have enuf $ (1mth deposit + 1 month advance+ 0.5 month agent fee (if any) + few hundreds for utility).

Good for u. Better ask all the stupid question u wan now. Ur chances of asking stupid question gets lesser wen u climb higher ranking.

Better to be stupid for a day (espcially in forum where ppl dunno u), than be stupid for the rest of ur life

0.5 month agent fee is painful. normally landlord or tenant pays? few hundreds for utilities? why is it so expensive?
