Recently I just bought Grundfos CM3-5PC water pump from Zean. Get my plumber to install it on Thursday & have a chance to test it today.

Here is my experience on this water pump & conversation with my wife after I tested it...

Me : Oh... I felt so stupid & regret after I bought this Grundfos water pump.
Wife : Why? I tot u said it's good? hmm.gif
Me : No! U listen to me... I tested it just now... Now look at my pants... cry.gif
Wife : Huh? OMG... U pee on ur pants? shocking.gif
Me : Urrrr.... No lar...
Me : Hai... Becoz of the water pump lar... Just now I opened my water stopcock in my bath room. The water is coming out from the water tap hole (I haven't installed water tap yet) & shooting at me around 1ft long... Where I'm standing 5 ft away from it... Then, I asked my contractor to open water pump to test... shocking.gif The water just shooting at me directly on my pants... Damn... I'm standing 5ft away from the water tap hole!!! My contractor & I laughing non-stop...
Wife : I tot u said regretted buying it? sweat.gif
Me : Ya lar... I should have bought this earlier... tongue.gif
Wife : doh.gif

In conclusion, this is a MUST BUY item. thumbup.gif

High pressure doesn't mean good. When pipe burst, you will have nightmare.

A correct pressure is the correct way.

+1 high pressure... = risk to joints and etc..

ngam pressure + correct pipe sizing = perfect flow at ngam pressure smile.gif

My new house is using polypipe as well as its joint, stop valve is using metal/copper type, water outlet all using copper type. So I guess this would be ok. tongue.gif

For those who are scared of burst and wanna get the right pressure, can consider Grundfos UNI E model. This model comes with a control panel where by u can control the pressure from 2.5 bar - 4 bar. This is a variable speed pump and it can maintain constant pressure
*
Zean, do we required to mount the water pump using wall screws? Mine is sit on the concrete slab. The plumber just place the water pump on top of the rubber pad & connect all the joints. He said it can be installed this way unless u r on the wooden surface.

Moreover, I heard "Tok Tok" sound when I open my water pump, sound like someone banging the wall. Follow by hissing sound then no more sound but I haven't have a chance to go up my roof to check again whether anything is loosen or else.

tok tok is water hammering or in another words, pressure shock wave movement in the water.. usually happens when the pipes are loose and also

no use the "ladder" method of piping after the pump
*
Pipes are loose? This is scary... I need to check it out then. If no further hammering sound happen then should be ok, right?

About the "ladder" method. Any picture or diagram to show? I'm kind of noobs. smile.gif

Some houses do not have water hammering noise at all, some are very noisy. If it is the pump's problem, every1 should have water hammering, so it is quite true that water hammering is due to poor installation but water pumps like UNI E start slow and stop slow could reduce water hammering
*
Hammering sound no longer happen after I use it for few times. This just happen when I first installed & tested it, so far so good. smile.gif

Zean, thx for your hospitality last Saturday, couldn't get more from you since tight budget... tongue.gif

cheap pump, small flow rate , frequent start stop quite annoying.

if Rm400 for installation only= expensive,

additional piping for the pump installation or @ other area?
*
RM400 installation is expensive? I tot Zean also mentioned it's around that price? tongue.gif

I also got RM400 water pump installation with direct water bypass after I show my plumber the installation diagram I got from Zean. Before this he quoted me RM300.

Hi skng03,

Thanks for your prompt replied, according to the plumber, he'll be doing a direct pipe to master's room toilet, and addition pipe to the water storage tank on the roof (believe to fill up the storage tank water as fast as possible). other then that i'll to get him to install an additional tap at the back of the house.

I'm also considering Hitachi pump as well, being offer for RM700, but i do not know whether if it is 100gp or 180gp series. The seller is from JB Hardware provision store, he can do postage for rm30. But the issue is im from Klang, can't find dealer dealing with Hitachi pump other than Panasonic which is located in meru.

Anyone got any shop to recommend me for the above brand pump or reliable plumper that doesn't charge an arm or leg.

Thank you

Hi mhhee,

thank for your replied, i assume rm400 is the standard rate for pump installation and etc. mind i ask what diagram you are referring to?
*
You can get Hitachi water pump in Klang too, so far the nearest I got is few hardware shops around Econsave Jalan Kebun, Klang.

The installation diagram of Grundfos water pump with water bypass. You can get the same as well in Hitachi water pump brochure. smile.gif
