hey guys i need help here. I just bought an SE Xperia Ray few days ago and now the RAM is running at around 200mb out of 335mb usable RAM. I've been constantly killing the useless apps running in the background but the RAM usage just wont go lower. My phone kinda lags now when i play games sad.gif

I suggest you refer your problem here, from the use itself

Answer:

1. If you're in the web browser, you can try change URL to touch.facebook.com. Or better change the agent settings of your browser to desktop mode, not mobile. So facebook will always be in full desktop form.

2. Probably not. Use the "facebook chat" app.

3. That's the supposeldy best experience on mobile and tablet, that's why there is a "facebook" app. Going via browser is only done if you have no choice, or you use a PC.

usually in the browser for facebook site scroll to the bottom of the page should have a way to switch to desktop version or get a browser like dolphin browser and change the user agent to desktop then should work.

I just bought a second hand that still runs Froyo for my lil sis. What do I have to do to the phone so that it starts with a clean slate. I notice some apps weren't running properly. Like they're blocked or something.

I am new to Android and I am deciding whether or not I should root my phone.

The only reason I want to root my Arc S is to remove the FB application. Cant tahan see it running on the phone when I dont use FB. It takes up my precious 4mb dry.gif

But since ICS is going to be out soon, I want to have ICS too, I dont know, can I upgrade to ICS if I root my phone. Or must I unroot it back.

My GF have a Samsung Galaxy ACE, just a few days ago when I connect the phone to kies it says that there is a firmware update for it, I didn't do it cause I dunno if it'll delete anything on the phone / memory card

1) will updating firmware delete anything on the phone?
2) any other downsides I should be aware of before I update?
3) any benefits at all updating??

1) Usually it will ask if you want to remove previous data
2) ALWAYS backup your data, be it sms, contacts, etc...
3) usually firmware update will improve user experience, battery optimisation, etc..

Make sure you are running stock firmware with locked bootloader.

In your familiar PC term:
Locked bootloader - unmodified bios
unlock bootloaded - OCed bios
root andriod - administrative account in windows
custom kernal - modified windows settings

don't take it 100%, it is just similarity.
