my guess is maybe no more complimentary cards, and everyone need to provide salary slips or EPF slips from now on, just wait and see
Man ... i hope not. I hope they are doing it Singapore style and banks can still provide complimentary credit cards to whoever are eligible for it biggrin.gif

New BNM rules help the increment of CL of my DA CC which has not increased since last year JUNE.
Huh ? How so ? I mean how has the new BNM rules helped you to get a higher credit limit ?

QUOTE(Fall guy @ Mar 19 2011, 11:10 AM)
That's the thing I am really curious about. Based on 2011 data, the CC NPL is only 1.7%? Not bad what.
Low NPL is a good thing but that is not what they concern the most. What they are worried is that many people are accumulating debts by paying the minimum every month or like 30% - 50% of the total amount owned only. This is the reason why they are imposing new rules so banks can no longer simply grant any credit limit to their credit cardholders.

For those that hold many credit cards, If they not cancel the cards to 2 cards issuers ,what will happen???
This is so new and the informations available for the time being is so vague. Even the banks are still digesting this news now. Guess we will have to wait for announcements from our banks.

Hey guys, I came across with Airasia frequent problem in flight delay, luggage delay..how am I going to claim the travel insurance?? anyone got idea?

I used MBB card to purchase the air ticket online.
International flight or domestic flight ? The credit card complimentary travel insurance is only applicable when it happens when you're overseas (international flight).

Another news about this new BNM credit card rules. The CEO says that there aren't many people fall into this RM36k and below group.

i read newspaper and credit limit would be 2x of your gross salary
Only if you belong to the RM36k or below group. Otherwise, this new rules doesn't apply to you.

QUOTE(yhtan @ Mar 19 2011, 08:44 PM)
i wonder which period would they implement it
By the end of this year.

QUOTE(wongpeter @ Mar 19 2011, 09:04 PM)
Correct me if I am wrong but I think the new guidelines requiring the credit limit to be 2x of your gross salary only applies to new card applicants. I don't see how it can apply to cardholders having the card for a lengthy number of years and probably maxed out on the CL.
New as well as existing credit cardholders belong to the RM36k and below group.

QUOTE(Robin Liew @ Mar 19 2011, 09:45 PM)
but how will banks know?

so if we are earning less than rm36k, and say if the bank does not know, will it be an offence to have a higher limit cc ?

for ex now my cl is rm30k but my business is closed
so how?
As i mentioned earlier, this is so new and not even the banks can answer you question right now. We just have to wait for the announcements from our banks.

QUOTE(chemistry @ Mar 19 2011, 11:36 PM)
Haha. It's not easy to be top management of local banks  tongue.gif
Gov likes to suka-suka implement, then suddenly terminate, they say it is due to "suara rakyat".
That's typical of them.

Yes. They do but not all. Kinokuniya in KLCC is one of the few merchants that accept CUP.

Thanks hye. You beat me to qualifying my inappropriately threaded posts wub.gif Anyway, for the time being, based on BNM's current list of regulatees, the Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad is not a credit card issuer. Perhaps MilesAndMore can update the debit card thread and link the FAQ on Bank of China's Great Wall Prepaid Card posted above earlier so that readers can click there instead of asking questions which answers can be found with some diligence. Information on UnionPay with respect to Malaysia can be found here.

BTW, I like the card design. Clean and tasteful.

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Mar 21 2011, 03:04 PM)
anyone having their credit card credit limit reduced already ?
Way too early for this to happen. As i have said, the banks too, are still digesting this piece of news and their CS cannot give you more information regarding this issue until they all get an official memo on how this is going to work and whether or not the existing cardholders with high credit limit have to re-submit their latest payslips.

QUOTE(choonkeong @ Mar 21 2011, 03:37 PM)
New and old cards share credit limit, nothing to do with transfer limit.
To whom is this reply directed to ?

As mentioned, there is no more information available for the time being. We just have to wait for the official announcement from our banks.

First time I heard MBB giving checks to cardholders, 0% interest somemore. How much the handling fees?

I used to receive cheques from CItibank but they never offer 0%.
It's very common for Maybank to issue cheques actually. My mom had got it twice last time when she was still using their cards.

It means he probably has spent at least RM36k using his HSBC credit card as you need 36,000 Rewards Points to redeem 3x RM50 Giant vouchers from HSBC.

Anyway, CIMB bank customers have an additional convenience - reloading TnG at CIMB ATMs is FOC. Please refer to the  press release dated 19 August 2010 and entitled "Free Touch ‘n Go Reloads at CIMB Bank ATMs!" here.
How to use this actually ? I tried it at the CIMB ATM last month in KLCC 4th Floor, right outside of Kinokuniya but i kept getting this error message.

QUOTE
Separate credit card criteria for retirees

PETALING JAYA: The new credit card application guidelines do not apply to pensioners or retirees, said Bank Negara.

An official said the raise in income requirement to RM24,000 from RM18,000 per annum was solely for those with a monthly income, adding that banks had their own guidelines to assess the credit worthiness of retirees.

Association of Banks Malaysia executive director Chuah Mei Lin said pensioners would stand a higher chance of getting their applications approved if they had a good track record of servicing housing or other loans.

AmBank Group public affairs head Syed Anuar Syed Ali said applicants' credit rating was assessed individually.

Citibank Bhd public relations officer Jaya Menon said an internal guideline would be used to assess the credit worthiness of applicants who are not on a monthly income.

Cost 36K reward points , but I think overseas transaction get more than 1 point per RM spent
I'm not eligible for any other cards , I know HSBC rewards points isn't the best (works out to 0.5% back) but better than nothing.
It used to be around 0.5% but not anymore due to the points inflation.
