assuming if one have an existing card (non plat) which is more than 1 year and CL at 10k, can use it to apply plat grade card?
May be ... may be not. It's hard to tell really and it depends on which bank too i guess. Why don't you try it first anyway ? If my memory serves me correctly, you can get the Citibank Cash Back VISA Platinum with just an existing Gold credit card with a minimum credit limit of RM10k.

Hi, I would like to ask whether AMEX uses any safety feature similar to Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode?
No. They don't.

I am asking because I was using my MasterCard to purchase a GSC ticket online and I wondered how am I going to purchase using AMEX in the future as AMEX is not listed, but MBB is. Anyone has puchased a GSC ticket using AMEX before?

Thanks
GSC doesn't accept AMEX.

CIMB Bank credit card call centre phone number can be found behind your credit card. And when you call then, just tell them which transaction you want to convert into installment plan and ask them to explain to you what installment plans they have now.

Or with MBB2 AMEX, you can sign up for 3 autopays and get 10k to waive your gst (until 15 Mar 2011 only, hurry!)
Is this a promotion or something ? Didn't know about this at all sweat.gif

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 12 2011, 06:43 PM)
Just a little update ...

I used my MBB2 AMEX to purchase my hotel room from Agoda recently. Just before finalizing the transaction, I was given a choice to either be charged in RM or USD. (The RM rate is slightly lower than the USD rate before conversion to RM)

I checked my M2U and it was charged exactly as the RM rate as Agoda mentioned without any surcharge. Bear in mind the transaction listed "AGODA HOOFDDORP NL" which I believe is based in the Netherlands.

Yup ... 5x points for me!
And thanks to the folks who gave me the tip earlier !
Great info. Thanks !

thanks for your feedback....
i already tried CIMB, Maybank and AEON
and they all rejected my application... sweat.gif
they all stated that the minimum salary was RM18000/pa
my question is are the bank also look at your EPF statement??
becoz my EPF was deducted from my basic salary which is RM1000

p/s: are the rm18000/pa is base on the EPF deduction??
It is based on gross salary. Your basic salary is RM1k, i guess this is the reason why all your applications were rejected.

how did you guys manage to apply on so many CC from different bank???
Just submit your payslips or attach a photocopy of your current credit card from another bank that you've been using for more than a year as reference.

QUOTE(budakdegilz @ Mar 13 2011, 05:49 PM)
did you doing banking regularly with those bank??
No. Not at all. Currently i have 5 credit cards from 3 different banks, 4 of which are issued by Maybank and Citibank and i don't even have a savings account with them.

QUOTE(budakdegilz @ Mar 13 2011, 05:49 PM)
how did you make your payment?? thru saving account in those bank??
In my case, i pay my credit card bills mostly through Interbank GIRO and sometimes using cheque.

Just to share

Transaction date 13th Mac, Posted 14th Mac
SGD$83.00  RM200.70   Rate 2.41807
Which bank is this ? Maybank ?

By the way, i just booked a hotel room through Agoda.com several days ago. I used my HSBC MasterCard so i can get the x% rebate and just like you mentioned, their system automatically detected my card is a Malaysian credit card and gave me the option to pay in MYR or USD. The MYR rate quoted by Agoda.com was pretty high actually. The hotel room i booked cost me US$310.49 and if i were to pay in MYR, i will have to pay RM970.93. Luckily i chose to pay in USD because the rate given by HSBC is actually lower thumbup.gif

Anyway, here is the exchange rate for your reference :
HSBC
13 Mar 2011
- US$310.49 > RM963.38 (US$1 = RM3.1028)

**Wawasan Sentosa's USD rate on 13/3/2011 was US$1 = RM3.037

I am sure my Maybankard 2 VISA can give me an even better rate but the rebate i can get by paying Agoda.com using my HSBC MasterCard gives HSBC MasterCard an edge in this case.

I am interest in the OCBC titanium credit card, but is there any simple way to pay the credit card other then wasting RM2 per month doing internet transfer (cause I only spend like RM200 a month)?
Another option is to open a Basic Savings Account with the bank you currently carry out your daily banking needs. The first TWO Interbank GIRO done in a month is just RM0.50/transfer.

In fact, the only country in the world is practicing keying in PIN when swiping your credit card is UK. Not even in the US they are doing it.
And credit cards issued by banks in South Korea too.

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 16 2011, 05:27 PM)
OK ... that I did not know. I assume you are confident of this information as we're advising people in here.
So it is UK and UnionPay China is PIN based.
I also have a UnionPay card but it is issued in Hong Kong. It is just a debit card though biggrin.gif And yeah, we do need to key-in our PIN whenever we buy something with the card.

The rates posted were Maybank. (Already updated the earlier posts) I don't have access to Wawasan rates thus I can't provide the reference figures.
It's here mate smile.gif It is the only money changer to publicly list its foreign exchange rates online, as far as i am concerned. And the rates offered usually are one of the lowest thumbup.gif

Emm ... I was in Korea around this time last year and I didn't remember the locals needing to enter their PIN. Maybe it is new.
Oh, is it ? Because i always see them having to key-in their PIN number here in Kota Kinabalu. And i also saw one Korean lady keyed-in her PIN number at City Superstore Supermarket in Hong Kong last month.

reason ?
Because there are other cards that are better than it. Besides, i am going to help my mom to apply the Maybankard 2 for her next month when the Maybankard 2 MasterCard comes out. We'll be able to save RM1200/pa from using Maybankard 2 AMEX alone rclxms.gif

By the way, has anyone ever redeemed your shopping voucher at those on-the-spot outlets using your Maybank credit card ? How is it done ? Do we need a PIN or something ?

but mbb2 card cap at rm50 for the rebate. CBP might help u to get more rebate, unless u got OCBC titanium, then u can throw CBP into dustbin tongue.gif
Was rejected for OCBC Titanium last year around Hari Raya. Anyway, will try to reapply next month. Will request for a very low credit limit. Hope i can get it approved this time around. Fingers crossed tongue.gif

By the way, it's going to be a few more months before i want to cancel the Citibank Cash Back VISA Platinum. And i am about to have two Maybankard 2 AMEX in my house very soon (RM50 x 2 cash back a month). Pretty confident my mom can get it since she is a government servant. Besides, she recently received a mail from American Express. Offering her a pre-approved AMEX Charge Card. She canceled her AMEX Green Charge Card about 1 1/2 years ago.

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 17 2011, 06:17 PM)
And be realistic ... you can't get the best rebate and cash back all in one card. No such product exist in the market today. (Unless MBB2 Amex give out 5% unlimited rebates every day and 5x points then I'll change my statement)
That ain't gonna happen because it simply is too unrealistic. Maybank will have to shut down its entire credit card business in no time biggrin.gif

HSBC and Citibank both have such thing but they don't send a text message to you each time you charge something to your credit card. The new rules require all banks to send you a text message each time you use your credit card.

Just clarify me, if my current CL is RM24k, will it be reduced or just stay? Also the CL thing , will it only affect new applications? tq.
Depends on how much you are earning every month. If you are earning RM36k per annum or less, then it will be reduced. All new and existing credit card holders must comply with the newly introduced rules.

Anyway, i wondered how is this going to affect those who are holding a complimentary credit card and those who applied for their second, third and so on cards using their existing credit card as reference. How do they determine we belong to the RM36k income group or above RM36k income group. Everything is just so vague right now.
