You can cancel and you should get charged. Banks that agree not to charge in such cases are just doing you a favour.

But hong leong bank even though i cancelled without using, but still need to pay rm50

Got a SMS from Maybankcard informing me about my application has been approved. Surprisingly, I haven't officially submitted any application. I think it's a pre-approved card.

I found out from CS, MB offered me MB2 Gold card. The CL is not attractive, is just 3K more than my current MB Classic card. I think they used my old income record.
If I do not activate the pre-approved card, will MB still charge me the GST?

I am more interested in Platinum. Or, should I just accept it and then apply for MB2 Platinum Master when it is available in April? If I manage to get hold of both cards, that means I can enjoy the max rebate of RM100 (RM50 X 2).

What's your advise?
*
if u did not apply, you can request to cancel and no GST should be charge
if you can max the RM100 from 2 sets of M2, then go ahead, only you knew whether you can do it

another good service by MBB.

i did cancel my CC last year in August, before anniversary to avoid the GST. before cancel, claim all point.

in Jan, i want to do BT as MBB give 0% for 12mth. then, i call CS & they said just apply for reinstatement & my acc will go live again. new card will be sent as i cut the previous card. rm50 will be charge for reinstate. ask about GST, CS said will be charge on the 1st bill.

now, c my statement in m2u. no reinstate charge & no GST. BT successfully done. hoho.. lucky me. hope next month also no charges for both.

another loop hole to avoid GST?!

Don't jump for joy .... GST not necessarily charged on the 1st month. Normally to appear in the 3rd or 4th month.
Appreciate if you could amend your last sentence as well. Too many folks here will become too happy and start to think GST can be avoided.

Actually last week I went to MBB to get my MBB cards link to M2U but had to wait so did not do it. Today went to a different branch as wanted to change autodebit for my wife's celcom acct and there was a MBB branch there. Walked in and was greeted by a young friendly exec and I told him I want to link my MBB cards. He has never done it before for people without SACA but he say will try. When he went into the system he could detect the system showed I had 2 accounts where my all my Platinum cards and my Amex gold Charge Card were linked to my Old IC AC and my Amex Gold CC linked to my new IC. So I told him to link all my Plat cards (Petronas, MC, M2Amex and M2Visa) to one new account since I am going to cancel the Gold Amex CC.

Well, this young chap managed to link all four of my Plats on the first try, After he said he done it, I went to ATM to register for M2U with my MBB Plat MC. After this, went back to the guy and he printed out my records to show me all four cards linked to M2U. After this I went online with the branch's PC and registered "first time login" and when I click Account Info - all four cards were shown rclxm9.gif

So, as what wshoh said, MBB can link all your cards to M2U even without you having SACA. I guess the young guy that serviced me was more computer savvy biggrin.gif

My wife decided to get a MBB Debit Card for her online shopping so she opened a SA with RM250 and linked her MBB Dua card to her account.

Dun think so, or else you have a existing CC with enough CL then only u can.

To me, DA is a good start for CC holder. Slowly build up good credit record, request for CL increase.
With enough CL, you can apply what ever card you like~~

Now I am having platinum cardS... although my current salary less than 3k..

Sifus..help to clarify... notworthy.gif

I'm a Principal Cardd holder for over 1 years (HSBC)
I'm planning to apply for MBB2 cards.

Question:

I would like to have higher CL when using MBB2, should I increase my HSBC CL first then only apply (reason is new card applications will follow CL limit from another CC)?

Or

I straight away apply for MBB2 then ask for higher CL? or need to hold another 1 year on MBB2 before ask CL increase?

Comment/suggestion are welcome thumbup.gif

Thanks

Credit limit is not determined by you but the bank.
New card CL does not necessarily follow the old one. As such, even though you manage to get HSBC increase your CL, MBB may still reject your application , or approve with a lower CL.

Most bank charges the GST the moment the card is approved. Just MBB is slower as usual rclxms.gif Good for consumers

Just noticed a CIMB Credit Card adv on The Star today.
It seems that the CIMB VI has a new design.
