QUOTE(rockefeller @ Feb 28 2011, 03:52 PM) Hi guys. I have a friend who is intending to get her first credit cards and she has decided Maybank is her bank of choice. She earns approximately RM 3,500 monthly. She has been using Amex Personal (Green) Charge Card all this while and intends to get credit cards now to allow flexibility in repayment. Question is, should she get: 1. Maybankard 2 Combo of Gold Visa & Amex or 2. Maybank Visa Gold Card & Amex Gold Credit Card Which is wiser you think? Points wise. She insists on having one Amex credit card and one Visa credit card and intends to maximize her points earnings. Definitely go for 1. Maybankard 2 Combo of Gold Visa & Amex

QUOTE(zenquix @ Feb 28 2011, 04:31 PM) Actually I suggest making a post detailing places you get 1% (when you expect to get 5%). 1) The list will be shorter and more manageable 2) stand out - the exception and not the norm 3) less avenues for ppl to complain (they tend to it alot in the forums) -? post 5% get 1% -> complain list wrong, we bluff them etc. etc. . on other hand, if post 1% but get 5% it will be "good for them!" 4) merchants might be monitoring the thread and will quickly change their wrong MCC I created the list for both areas... just wait for TS to post it.

QUOTE(MGM @ Mar 1 2011, 12:13 AM) Using Amex for spending at O'Brien gets 30% discount but offer until 31/3/2011. In addition you gets 5xTpoints and 5% rebate if spend on weekend. Better than using OCBC Ti. O'Briens in 1U gave me 30% on the whole bill. O'Briens in Empire Shopping Gallery gave me 30% on the ala-carte items only (this is the right way)

Assuming overseas CC charges is paid by the company, which cards offer the best to the employee
1. Maybankard2 AMEX with 5% on weekends and 5x TP 2. SCB Business Visa with 0.5% and 3x ChoicePoints 3. Maybankard2 Visa

Maybankard 2 AMEX and Standard Chartered Business VISA, no doubt ! In terms of priority of use, should be Maybankard 2 AMEX, followed by Standard Chartered Business VISA ??

Let's do some examples :-
USD1 = RM3.00 Convert RM1 = 200 TP/CP
Spend of USD100 Maybankard2 AMEX charges 2.5% = RM307.50 = 1537 TreatsPoints [RM7.69] SCB Business VISA charges 1.0% = RM303.00 = 909 ChoicePoints + RM1.52 [RM6.07]
Spend of USD3000 Maybankard2 AMEX charges 2.5% = RM9225 = 46125 TreatsPoints [RM230.63] SCB Business VISA charges 1.0% = RM9090 = 27270 ChoicePoints + RM45.45[RM181.80]
Somehow, Maybankard2 AMEX still tops !!!

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Mar 1 2011, 12:03 PM) er, how can M2 Amex comes on top? after deducting the rebates from TP/CP, you pay more if you use M2 AMEX, unless you factor in 5% on weekends, but that is up to max of RM50 only Comes up top in terms of rebate.... not in terms of nett paid to the bank. If calculated based on 2% for SCB (more likely), Maybankard2 AMEX have lower nett paid to the bank.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Mar 1 2011, 02:33 PM) OCBC should counter MBB Dua by reverting back to their earlier promotion where the cash rebate was capped at RM120, or offer max rebate RM100 where it is cap at RM50 each for the 5% and 1% cash back. This would wipe out Citi Cash Back Plat, HLB Essential & Fortune credit card and make OCBC talk of the town again. OCBC marketing - hope you guys reading this Great Idea They should offer RM50 for 5% and RM50 for 1% : Total spending: RM1000 + RM5000...that's a jump of 6x more sales.

QUOTE(xjeez @ Mar 2 2011, 11:22 AM) Even the qualification is not easy, since Dining and Utilities is not included. Swiping a minimum of RM640 - RM960 a month on groceries and misc items across 8-12 transactions does sound challenging to plan for even. You can always buy vouchers form Jusco or Isetan Added on March 2, 2011, 11:29 amWe need to buy RM90 voucher for 10 swipes & RM50 voucher for 2 swipes to maximise the 12% Public Bank cashback ;-) This post has been edited by ronnie: Mar 2 2011, 11:29 AM
