Normally the banks would not consider bonus as annual income as it is not categorized under fixed/regular income.Credit Card v15, Ask general questions here, Please read the 1st post before posting

I have just received a mailer from Citibank Shell card, apparently they are claiming that they are offering "MORE" rebates to customer....
Yes, they do give more rebates, but the rebates are only applicable to SHELL PURCHASES. OTHER purchases can help to push ur rebate tier higher but not entitle for rebate. Arrghhhh I think I wanna re-consider about the card already!! Any credit card that offers a good rebate scheme? |

QUOTE(yeahh @ Mar 14 2011, 05:37 PM) It is a special benefit for Alliance Premium (Privilege Banking) and Platinum (Alliance Personal) debit cardholders. In fact, Alliance Premium or Platinum debit cardholders are also given complimentary access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.Do read my post #2 at Airport Lounges Thread. |

My Alliance Platinum Debit Card is having very low balance now. Can I use it to enter the lounge? Will the service person swipe the debit card?
Some more the card is left in my drawer since April last year. This post has been edited by choonkeong: Mar 15 2011, 02:59 PM |

You can use the card to enter both KLIA and LCCT Plaza Premium Lounges, as long as the quota has not been hit yet. It is FOC for principal cardholders. If you bring along guests who do not own Alliance Premium debit card or Alliance Platinum debit card, it will be subject to charges.By the way, you will be charged RM35 per month if the average monthly balance of your Hybrid Account falls below RM50,000. Alliance Bank will send you reminder before charging you. |

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Mar 15 2011, 02:25 PM) Thanks for info, in fact i am thinking of cancelling the citi-shell card, coz my monthly petrol transaction is normally less than 100, while my other retail spending could go up to few thousand, so this card is consider useless for me. Coz I only get a very limited rebate with no points. Argghhhh But one thing good with citibank is that they have a lot promo with the merchant |

"For 1st time CC applicants with Degree: DA (Direct Access @ CIMB)"
I looked at the first post and saw this. May I know what is the advantages for getting this card instead of OCBC or Maybankard2? Is this for students that are studying for a degree or a fresh graduate? There is the 0% interest for education, insurance and hospital bills for 10 months but what does it mean? |

QUOTE(wshoh @ Mar 9 2011, 10:32 AM) *UPDATED* I think I've got my answer from the Taiwan thread post as below:10-Mar-2011 08-Mar-2011 Merchant EDFS Taoyuan TW RM41.02 (was NT$380, chose to pay in MYR) (FX Rate 0.1070900) - to dispute with DA/CIMB? *[WTA]* Transaction slip states RM40.69 and not RM41.02! Difference of 33 sen is insignificant, but is DA/CIMB entitled to charge admin fee or has there been a mistake somewhere? Transaction with MBBKard 2 Visa (see transaction on 8/3/2011 at Merchant EDFS above) is as per transaction slip. QUOTE(McCabePlace @ May 17 2010, 01:24 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « For CIMB, what happened to me was I opted the RM amount coz I can be sure of the amount and the rate was stated there, which was cheaper. Mana tau hor, the stupid Twn bank changed the RM to NTD at dunno what rate which is higher to charge into my CC and CIMB then took that converted NTD and re-convert into RM. Double whammy!!! |

QUOTE(LOLsim @ Mar 15 2011, 06:33 PM) "For 1st time CC applicants with Degree: DA (Direct Access @ CIMB)" If you searched the thread carefully, you may have seen that the original suggestion was for 1st time CC applicants with Degree to consider applying for DA (apart from OCBC Titanium MasterCard and MBBKard 2).I looked at the first post and saw this. May I know what is the advantages for getting this card instead of OCBC or Maybankard2? Is this for students that are studying for a degree or a fresh graduate? There is the 0% interest for education, insurance and hospital bills for 10 months but what does it mean? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Anyway, in a nutshell: 1st time credit card applicants (including those who currently only hold a supplementary card) with a degree (ie undergraduates excluded) should consider DA @ CIMB as a backup measure in the event their application for OCBC Titanium MC/MBBKard 2 is not successful. One 'benefit' is that CIMB (of which Direct Access is a subsidiary) tends to be more generous when granting Credit Limit ("CL"). Banks like HSBC are known to give a paltry RM3k to those who have just joined the workforce. This can be inconvenient if you really have the purchasing power but CL is insufficient hence requiring a call to temporarily increase your CL or disabling you from taking up those real [I]zero percent installment offers. If your temp CL increase is not approved, well...you miss out on the points/cashback. Another reason why a high CL may be useful is that it provides a good reference card (after you have used it for more than a year and consistently make full payments promptly) to apply for 'premium' cards. Please do not take this as an encouragement to 'chase' cards as most of us know some 'uncle' who deliberately carries a classic/gold card but which in fact has CL dwarfing others who hold a Platinum card. Anyway, if you are a member of any of DA's affinity partners, you get fast tracked to Platinum status. No airport lounge access for DA's Platinum but you do get free travel insurance if you charge your full airfare to the card. As to Visa/MasterCard, generally there are more promos with MC in Malaysia as opposed to Visa such as the 5% Sunday rebate. Visa may be preferred if you are a frequent GSC movie goer and can benefit from the Buy 1 Free 1 GSC promo, but do check out the restrictions eg not applicable for online booking, couple seat etc. Also note that the GSC movie promo is only for Platinum cards onwards. As far as we know, DA doesn't waive the RM50 GST. One way to indirectly go about it (if it applies to you) is to apply under the Member-Get-Member programme ("MGM") and get your relative/close friend who already holds a CIMB/DA card to credit the RM50 back to you. Caveat: the current MGM form indicates that the programme has expired as of 31/12/2010 but it seems to be still valid according to reports in this forum - do check with CIMB/DA prior to application. You are warned! Since the topic is on DA @ CIMB cards, perhaps the prospective applicant should look at the CIMB Prime Account (read the T&Cs carefully) and see if it suits his/her needs. The RM50 Bonus Cash campaign (ending 31/3/2011) may be used to offset the CC GST for the 1st year. A further benefit of CIMB is free Touch N Go reloads through their ATMs. Simply put, the 10 months 0% interest programme for insurance etc divides the sum by 10 equal installments. Just pay the installments in full monthly to enjoy the 0% interest. |
