the asus transformer is sellin at 1498 for tablet and 1799 with the keyboard dock? wow..that seems fair enough O_O..still cant make up my mind on which to get

There's a few reason actually

1) The dock has extra 8hour of juice to power up the tablet.
2) From time to time, it's nice to type on the keyboard than tapping the screen like madness when you're chatting with friends via ebuddy or facebook.
3) USB connectors!
4) It's detachable so i can bring it with me if i want and leave it at home if i don't want so it's a bonus ++!

Not all laptops are as portable as the Eee Pad Transformer?

Those who has netbooks probably won't consider the Transformer anyway 
For instance, AlexLai sifu has a 14 incher & Virus has a gaming rig (don't think its portable)...
The keyboard dock would be an additional feature which could really come in handy, but then of course its up to personal preference whether to get it or not..

Those are really expensive gadgets, lol  People with those won't even consider a Transformer

It's the same size and weight. Personally, I would pay more for the Transformer because it's both a tablet and a netbook.

It's not useless when you consider that it has USB ports, extended battery and a physical keyboard. Once you use a tablet, you will know how annoying it is to type something out on a flat surface virtual keyboard. The pad itself is not that worth it when the retail price is RM1498, I would rather import it. The combo itself is since we are only paying an extra RM301 for it compared to 149 USD.

My laptop is there for work and other heavier tasks, but when I wanna go mobile, it's still heavy and the battery life is abysmal.

Will be using it in lectures for notes and also travelling. Yeah will be carrying the tab+dock together. I always carry my laptop around and the weight difference of almost 1kg makes a lot of difference. I do type pages for reports and also some reviews when I'm free at my campus and I'm quite lazy if you ask me to bring my power adapter along since it adds another few hundred grams to the total weight I carry.

You can't really run far from the specs. But this is by far the cheapest Tegra 2 powered tablet in the market now.

my laptop 18 inch, hard to carry everywhere bro 

for me, its useful when traveling : on the go, just bring the pad + camera, back to hotel use the dock, update blog + upload pic from camera 
without bring my 18 inch laptop !!

my experience with Galaxy Tab, is that it's heaps lighter than carrying a laptop, while offering much more screen estates to read documents and websites than a smartphone...

top that off with integrated 3G modem and u can literally access the Internet as and when u like it...

the dock itself is really up to u... personally i would really like to ve it... the virtual keyboard can be a pain in the ass to type even if u re juz giving a short reply in forums... granted there are alternatives like Swype, but i dun really like it... and u can juz detach it and leave it in ur bag while using only the tablet alone

the dock has additional features like full USB ports, extra battery and 5-in-1 card reader, which imho ss Asus' attempt to make it more netbook like...

Transformer is designed to replace a netbook if u ask me... for a start Asus has a full office productivity suite pre-installed in it...

Guys, need ur expertice on this; I would like to buy a tablet someday very soon but not sure which one suit me..i like to watch download movie, i also love to take picture (using camera) when traveling and see it at large screen, gps is great as option but i already have phone with gps support, don't care much about tablet camera, long lasting battery and easy to buy an accessories (screen protector/tablet cover/spare batteries etc.)..what tablet u guys can suggest me?     

cloud is the trend now... computers are getting more and more redundant now...

but cloud storage is disaster proof. Actually my plan is to backup only long-term data on the cloud.. not the type of data that you would need everyday

on a consumer level, yeah it's pretty limited right now... but on the flip side, u dun ve to worry abt things like maintaining ur data, back ups etc...

cloud has been around us for a long time... web mail is the simplest form...  smartphone is combining all the cloud services into 1 place... things like Google Music, Google Maps, Evernote, Google Cloud Printing, all these make full use of cloud computing... and iCloud pushed it to another level...

as broadband gets cheaper u will get to benefit from it...
