Hmm.. Well apparently, Toshiba Folio AS100 can support Honeycomb with its tegra 2..

but rumours say that it probably wont be getting honeycomb due to some hardware issues.. still no idea what would it be.. RAM size??

Added on April 5, 2011, 6:37 pmregarding Folio (from Wikipedia):

]Tegra2, 8GB ROM, 512 MB RAM, 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3G, SD and MMC card readers, 1.3 megapixel camera, FM tuner (does this exist??)

similar spec as Iconia A100... more than sufficient for Honeycomb...
*
Corrected.

I think that is the Toshiba AC100 with built in 3G modem and a lil bit better specs.. and I think its with a keyboard too.. I do not see it in Malaysian market. But googling does show results.

Even the current Toshiba AS100 have replaceable battery too.

Nonetheless, I really want to know why Toshiba does not want to update honeycomb for this AS100 tablet.. Its a FREAKING waste of its hardware.

And for the record.. Toshiba make lousy ROMs.. Notice almost everyone is using the custom ROM for the AS100 tablet..

I do not hope much in the coming AS200 tablet.. I am turning into LG optimus Pad is possible!

Added on April 5, 2011, 9:47 pmTS,

IIRC, ViewSonic has a tablet called G-Tablet which carries Tegra 2 as well!

haha.. I mentioned that in my previous post..

I just hope some how Toshiba or Viewsonic update their 2 potential budget tegra 2 tablet.. It is such a waste to see them running on froyo..

Just hoping the coming Toshiba AS200 tablet.. comes with pretty similar hardware with the AS100 and XDA folks would do the job in porting up honeycomb!

hmm.. pretty cheap for the viewsonic eh.. last time I searches.. promotion price was USD299 now.. i think around USD349. But not sure. haha..

Its just pain to see tegra 2 not being fully utilized..

THe new toshiba tablet has no announced Specs yet but most probably come with Tegra as well. but no confirmed specifications yet thou.. only pictures and ads..

well.. Its the bad thing about android devices.. They tend to ignore the older generation devices which their hardwares are still capable of delivering performance.

Newer android OS are focused on latest productions to boost sales so people would buy the latest devices just for the sake of the latest OS..

Added on April 5, 2011, 10:02 pmIt is possible but it wont be easy.. different kernels and hardwares will make them quite impossible..

Customs roms can run easily on Android phones because most of them have similar hardware like Qualcomm chips or ARM chips.. and their drivers can be easily extracted from the latest phones and be ported into other phones..

When time comes, I guess when more Tablets with Tegra 2 are released, they would probably stand a chance!

is toshiba the only one available in malaysia with honeycomb? what other tablets are threre avail here?

The toshiba folio AS100 tablet is around but it only runs on froyo 2.2 and the ROM kinda sucks..

Most people like me opt for a custom rom from XDA which makes it alot smoother..

No news regarding honeycomb yet.. Honeycomb AOSP has yet to be released and the only chance of getting honeycomb for this Toshiba AS100 will be when the 2nd Gen of the Toshiba Tablet is released and ported over to this 1st Gen since they both run Tegra 2 and hopefully have the same hardwares.

Added on April 12, 2011, 3:31 pmI would certainly agree that iDevices is much more user friendly and smoother in their software compared to Android.

Android has more customization ability and users and freely explore and try out various roms or softwares developed freely by people all around the world. Makes android a big sharing community.

It is a very subjective matter and it all depends on how the user want to user their tablets smile.gif

I kinda doubt the price would be this low.. even Aussie is selling for like AUD549 each..

we should expect at least rm1599 to 1899 for malaysia price..

Performance of their new chip I guess. Much more powerful than the Tegra 2 apparently. Also, the unibody shell is more expensive to fabricate as usual.

The pricing came from SoyaCincau.com which says that MacStudio allow you to preorder the iPad2 at iPad pricing and pay the remainder if it is more expensive.

Nah.. Well.. Ipad2 reso is only 1024x768 while tablets support 1280x800 edi.. tegra 2 benchmark is lower than Apple A5 chip but I think its due to the different resolution involved.
