Is it possible for a 3GS on 4.2.1 with 06.15.00 BB to update to 4.3.1 ?
Need custom FW ? Possible to unlock with ultrasn0w after that ?

Would appreciate it if anyone who has a custom FW for 3GS FW 4.3.1 BB 06.15.00 to share it with me.. or any links where i can DL it from.
PM would be nice.
I already have the custom FW to restore 4.2.1 BB 06.15.00 .. just in case anything happens.

hmm.. maybe u can try using another pc to jb .. or re-dl redsnow & try again..
i havent experience any prob so far with redsn0w to jb 3gs or i4

jb won't restore your phone. was it back to factory after u update 4.3.1 ? previously you were on which ios?
is there a backup in yr itunes u can use ?
if the backup is corrupt or can't be restored, important stuff like contacts , sms & notes can still be retrieved ..

hehe.. there's another way to retrieve sms & contacts.. cos i kena b4.. lost everything..
only have the backup file which cannot be restored back in itunes..
managed to get back contacts & sms & notes after 1 week of research ...
so i'm not gonna share it here ..

what did u select when u jb with redsn0w ? install cydia ? any other ?

i don't get what u mean. i didn't experience any prob with redsn0w.
mayb u can share with us what steps was taken when u jb? & which box did u tick in redsn0w ?

redsn0w works well on 3GS 4.3.1 .. no issue .. give it another try.. follow the steps on page#1 ..
since yours is maxis set, even easier cos no lock .. dun give up..

redsn0w_0.9.6rc11 now.. go get it...

anyway, i JB 3GS with redsnow rc11 & was stuck few times after select boot logo animation ..
if dun tick boot logo no prob with jb..
i hope rc12 no more issue with this lo..

are there anymore good free tweaks in cydia anymore ?
i see all the useful & good ones also need to pay ..

iPhones on 4.2.1 i think got 3 types -
- 4.2.1 official factory unlock. therefore no need care about baseband.
- 4.2.1 carrier locked but baseband remain when upgrade from 4.1 or earlier ver.
- 4.2.1 carrier locked & update to iPad baseband 06.15.00 to unlock

step by step guide will have to be very precise .. otherwise 2nd & 3rd type of iPhones will have prob ..

last week, i update a 3GS for a friend of mine. cos he screwed up cydia when it was updated to a newer ver. cydia icon missing. he told me it's factory unlocked. so i didn't bother to check. after update from 4.1 to 4.3.1, only know it's a carrier locked set. lucky SHSH was saved in cydia. downgrade back to 4.2.1. then only can unlock & use. if SHSH not saved, i think that he walloped me already.. lesson i learnt, no matter how fren, don't do for free anymore.. & better to check the model..

if still can't then if u give more info eg. what model, fw, jb tool etc etc .. maybe you'll get an answer..

check out dev team's blog.. google for it..

cant say snowbreeze is not that good la.. its very important to cook up custom firmware to retain baseband and other stuffs..
redsnow is just a simple jb tool .. even for beginners.. for factory unlocked sets..
b4 you use redsnow, better to read dev team's blog first & understand what you are doing ..
