First time doing a JB since I just got my iPhone

Currently on 4.3.1....so i used Redsn0w for Windows (Vista).

Kinda nail biting...but ahh...the Redsn0w got error halfway after DFU and had to close it...the iphone screen hang at "downloading JB data" for quite a long time before rebooting back to the original...fhew..lucky...tried again...same error..

Well, not my luck..maybe need to wait for another JB software....wonder when is greenpois0n coming out with a 4.3.1 JB.

Not sure but my lappy is currently is login as 'Guest'...but with administrative mode....kinda stupidly deleted my only administrator user name...and seems like I can't add more users as my lappy is 'locked' by my previous company server.
But so far all softwares got no probs to install. not sure why Redsn0w got error and had to close.

I'm not sure abt greenpoison or what cos this is first time for me as I'm new much new to Iphone4.

Only thing I know is the redsn0w software crashed after I did a DFU...and the iphone screen just hang with the "Downloading jailbreak data" (HDD picture).
Lucky the iphone reboot back to the original

I'm running Vista....yes, I did that...click properties and run this mode in compatibility mode for Windows XP (service pack 2)....also same thing....got error halfway..

Redsnow got error halfway...snowbreeze can't even launch

I think something is wrong with my lappy

OK...I think I've JB my IP4 ...yippy..

Here are my steps:

1. Off / ON the computer...
2. Exit the AV virus
3. Make sure your computer has Control Panel -> Adminstative tool->servies->Windows update must be in manual and also started (not sure if this had any effect...but you can try it)
4. Click on the redsn0w.exe properties->Run this program in compatibility mode Xp service pack 2...make sure you are have admin rights for the current user
5. Just try and do an installation again....hope it works for you

Seriously...snowbreeze can't even launch...finally redsn0w worked for me...after 3 tries..just follow my steps bro..that got it working..


I forgot to add...try off/ on the modem also when you restart your computer

chokia...I got my ipsw from the itune upgrade..

If you upgrade your iphone using itune, try to a search for .ipsw
%Userprofile%\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

err..just one question,

Will using JB, Cydia or Inst4 create issue when using RHBMobile or M2u?
I feel uneasy..

argh....just when i wanna upgrade to 4.3.2 and JB it.....

now comes 4.3.3

I'll try to get the 4.3.2 from another source....itunes only got 4.3.3 now..(i think)

But if the 4.3.3 is much better than 4.3.2, i can wait 1~2 weeks for the JB software to be out

Anyway, I've update my ip4 to 4.3.3 using the latest RedSn0w..

err..if anyone encounter "white icons"...just "install" using it will bring up the icon image again...

I'm abt to JB a friends 3GS with redsnOw....he is using SG set...so I think its unlocked set..

Is the process of JB a 3GS set similar to ip4 set?
I'm familiar with JB ip4...but this is first time JB a 3GS

Whats wrong with the R15 version?...I tried it out and it works just fine on my ip4...the side vibrator also works when someone calls in silent mode...or is it something else?....I can't be certain but a few games did sound even when in Silent mode (the side switch)... not sure related to R15

If you have no issues with rc15...no point JB again to rc16...just wait for 4.3.4 or 4.3.5 to JB again...dun make it a point to JB like crazy every time there is a new version out...unless it improves the iphone significantly.

I just jailbreak my friends 3gs with 4.3.3 and RC16...but his is Sg set.

If thats the case..upgrade first to 4.3.3, after that do the JB

funny, I'm using a maxis set but redsnow OK, specifically, what do you mean you can't JB...is there an error that comes out?

Whatever t is...just sync it with itunes and let it update to whatever current latest.

Well, jailbreaking is NOT something you should do without proper homework. Especially for first timers.
Afaik, you need to know if your set is a locked or unlocked set, and to a certain extent, the production dates from the serial numbers if it's required.

Also, each version of jail breaking tool Is very specific for the firmware. You cannot simply use redsn0w Rc16 for any firmware. Pls google around to get more info
