hi sifus,

i was wondering if it is safe to install .apk files downloaded from non-market sources?
specifically i want to upgrade my google maps app from 5.0 to 5.3 as found here Google Maps 5.3 apk

however, my phone is unrooted, therefore unable to upgrade via market (as with all other google apps which ban malaysian carriers).

No harm i think, and Google Maps is free btw, so its not illegal smile.gif

I suppose what I'm more worried about is the possibility of these non-market .apk files are trojans/virus disguised as legit apps. Can recommend good sources to download .apk files online?
