QUOTE(kykit @ Jan 22 2015, 02:53 PM) huh? SSPN tax relief is up to RM6K per annumthus if your tax bracket is 26%, that's $6K *26% = $1560 Now the fun part... I put in another $5.5K only BUT i've $6K tax relief DUE TO the interest re-invested which is counted as "additional invested for the year" heheh - U do the maths for that |

Is the SSPN interest calculated on the same basis as EPF (interest calculated from the last day of the month even if the deposit is made on the first day of the month)?

guys, I have been thinking about SSPN. Hope someone can shed some light on this. Is SSPN really a good medium to save money?
Let's say I save RM6k this year, and get the max deduction of 26%, I can get RM1,560 refund. Subsequently, this 6k might entitle to a dividend of say 3-4% every year? I can't withdraw this money until my children are being offered a place in tertiary education (no flexibility). what if I can save the same amount of money in another investment, which generate more than 5% every year, in the end I will have both higher savings couple with flexibility. Is my analysis correct? |

The other instrument you can consider is PRS which offers tax deduction also... please ask in the Income Tax threadLet's say I save RM6k this year, and get the max deduction of 26%, I can get RM1,560 refund. Even saving in SSPN has its own risk, I don't think our money is guaranteed, right? what if one day PTPTN declare bankruptcy as many defaulters.. there goes our money.. Some investments which I can think of... shares with more than 5% dividend yield (probably REIT?), unit trust (like ASW, ASB...)... |

QUOTE(IceQTurbo @ Apr 3 2015, 09:06 AM) Firstly, don't get me wrong of rejecting SSPN, I myself also invest in SSPN. I'm just thinking whether this is the best option with my limited funds. YES,...there are BETTER option* out there if the saving /investing horizon is longer.I don't think there is any investment which has no risk.. it's either low, medium or high risk. PLUS having the withdrawal flexibility.... * if one know what to do and have the risk appetite for it. This post has been edited by yklooi: Apr 3 2015, 10:41 AM |
