i personally feel swimming pool is cheap to build, but expensive to maintain.
need service now and then. word of caution, as my fren builds swimming pool and large ponds for customers, he said the fiberglass work must be good and experienced. if after a while, your pool is leaking, you will spend alot of money to redo.

In my narrow limited view, swimming pool is like a high end bathtub.
Bathtub = nice to have, have to maintain often(wash la), do not use much if ever. biggrin.gif

Hi dear,

I think most people having the same prospective as u, let's share this from my point of view:-

A pool in the living place, create harmony feel, elegant and better scenery. It also make your property value appreciate if u compare to yr adjacent lot. With a good system can make yr pool less maintenance, what u need is just to check the pH level, chlorine level & brush vacuum 2x a week. Let's make it as yr weekly routine to get yrself sweat and exercise.

As a comparison, i am sure u do own a car...... yr first car might just a simple local make car, with yr career progression and achievement, today i m sure u deserve to appreciate a better life style with a better car..... it apply the same to yr house.

hi sebastian,

thank you for your explanation..however i'm very keen on the concept of poolnleisure which is a ready made pvc type pool. from the looks of it, the cost is much cheaper and low maintenance..

FRP Pool aka fibre glass pool is not suitable in malaysia weather.. how true is it?

if you have experience in it, could you list down the cost as i also intend on building my family pool.. currently my eye is on http://www.poolnleisure.com/ as it is far more cheaper...

tq

Added on December 29, 2011, 4:16 pmfrom the talks i had with the sales from poolnleisure, the cost of maintenance is quite low compared to conventional.. i'm not sure which type of filteration they are using..most probably skimmer (but the suction is at the wall and not on the floor)..

heard that maintenance of swimming pool cost about 50-200 per month.. is it true?

Hi,

For yr info, standard swimming pool come with filtration & disinfection system, means the pool water circulate and for years u dun have to change the water. Due to evaporation of hot sunny day & user in & out from pool, the incoming water float valve will fill up by itself. If during raining season, the excess water will overflow to the nearest drain. Yr water bill is high when u commission the pool, long term not really too much consumption.

I will advise if maintenance cost is a factor, why not just vacuum clean it by yrself as it is very simple as u vacuum yr living hall, get yrself sweat mate.... if u engage a pool maintenance guy who visit 2x a week, they usually charge 200- 300/month n depends on yr pool size.

Hi I've always dreams to have a pool in my house,

as im still in progress in getting my 1st property, im opting for two things, 1) to have a spool , 2) if its too expensive - just have a carpet grass + one or two golf holes tongue.gif

1) i was wondering for a budget lets say 18k, what's the biggest pool we are talking here...
2) since i know that having an olympic size pool would be impossible for me, + i love swimming , is there any swimming pool system with current ? just like a treadmill but in a pool..donno how to put in words here sweat.gif rolleyes.gif
3) how much is the estimate monthly budget of having a pool..200? 300?

4) im not fancying a high end pool since i might be on tight budget, but incase ur a pool contractor, here's the land that im talking bout, ive yet the exact measurement/floor plan

for me 18feet x 10 feet is adequate for a family pool..or maybe smaller perhaps? think it this way, are you willing to perform the maintenance for a big size family pool?

talking bout maintenance perspective, how much does it cost for the chlorine, etc to maintain the pool and to avoid algae building up...

i was quoted 6k for the 18x9 feet from poolnleisure . not inclusive of the finishing such as sinking the pool down,etc.. looks like its cheap..

so actually what is the price range to build up a family pool from scratch..

above ground is cheap. i checked with one supplier buy the pool is like 5k, if you want to make it nice add a bit extra (can also be sunken in) : http://www.poolnleisure.com/RectPool.html

given a choice i'd take a traditonal one but we dont really have space (or the money). dont think 8mx4m would do a lot of good huh?

I have a pool and it's one of the best decisions I've made for my family. We spend more time together and now instead of going out, the kids bring their friends over. Construction of a freeform pool is expensive but if you have the budget, It's worth it! There are also other options like fiberglass or liner pools which are cheaper. I know Classic Above Ground Pools in Malaysia offer DIY portable pools. Not sure about maintenance but it shouldn't cost so much.

My pool was done by Aquarius Swimming Pools, they were highly recommended to me and I would do the same too. Super easy to work with smile.gif
They have fiberglass too if I'm not mistaken. https://www.aquariuspools.com.my/
