I think it depends on how long it's been since it expired.

If only a few days, try renewing at Pos Malaysia counter. Maybe when they punch it into the computer, it will turn a blind eye.

No guarantees if already expired for few MONTHS.

the road tax expire at dec 2010....I bought the car second hand...when driving the car after paid back to my home damn kena road block..

sien 1st day got the car already kena saman...

No such thing. If expired a few days, can rayu but in your case, 3 months! No way...

Pay the summon, take receipt and head over to JPJ to renew road tax.

because I staye far away from the seller place, so I only have specific time to go and get the car, I already know the car tax expired already, still I take the risk to get the car back to my place only kau tim the road tax cus need some time to get the name transfered...my fault la

Last wednesday i went to court bcoz kena saman driving under influence (alcohol)... Got 1 case b4 mine, court case bcoz roadtax mati, a young lady driver.. She kena 750.. If u x kena court notice, considered lucky alrdy...

Maybe court notice and saman RM750 only because she ignored and won't pay normal saman? I don't think they will serve court notice immediately at road block.

Even so, RM750 seems a bit high... You sure it's not because BOTH her roadtax AND lesen memandu mati?

AFAIK Expired Road Tax or No Road Tax is a serious non compoundable offense. Need to go to court.

Check and reread the summons again.

Lucky for you. It's compoundable since the issuer did not cross the boleh/tidak boleh di kompaun.

I called and confirmed with an officer from Balai Polis Trafik Klang (03-3372 2222) that you can just pay the summon.

I wasn't that lucky last time.

this is my 2nd offense, 1st offense was 8 years ago.

Count your blessings.

1) Legally your car can be detained by the police. (No valid road tax and insurance) But they did not.
2) You are fortunate that the officer did not make the summons non compoundable. I had to go to court just because I lost my LKM years ago even though I have a valid road tax and insurance.

I don't make a habit of breaking the law. But from my experience, if you want discount then you need to go to the Traffic Police Station that the summons originated from. (Not sure from the bad hand writing) See or give a call first to the police officer whom gave you that summon and ask for a discount nicely.

till now I still havent go pay...does it have a certain time period before kena sue to court? because I stay quite far away from K.K, can I just pay in where ever police station or have to go to that municipal's police's station?

Better do it FAST before they blacklist u.

if the roadtax is not renewed yet means the name is not transferred yet means it is still under the old owner's name?

But don't do things like that. Not honest. Just pay for it to avoid problem in the future. Currently JPJ and PDRM doing some integration which means you might have problem renewing in the future.

Last year, i was driving my car with expired road tax for maybe two weeks...passed one road block...but police didn't see...hahaha!

i got one, road tax expired and no insuran offences. and hav to face court on 8/9/2011. damn it.

Tumpang Thread awhile,

I get a summon from JPJ where my has already expired with the following offense:

1. Cukai Jalan Tamat Tempoh
2. Insuran kereta tamat tempoh

But I straight away went to renew it after the summon since JPJ is lazy to directly keyin into computer and my renewal success. After a week, the summon list appear on JPJ online.

But!!! When I check back today, I do not have any JPJ summon. What is this mean because I am required to attend the court session at 28th September. I am nerveous here and need some guidelines. >"<
