Had a very bad experience with Genius Game at Sunway pyramid last night. I was looking at getting a 3ds xl from them so I enquired about the price. They told me the console itself is RM680, but the pokemon game is 170. I decided to do more surveying so I went into the digital centre and got quoted 750.

Upon returning to genius game, I spoke with this guy. Let's call him A. A told me that the console at 680 was a refurbished set, but still comes with the 1 year warranty. I was more interested in the red one, so I asked if he could order one for me. He said he could, so asked for a better price than 680, because it was going to be a refurbished set as well. He said if I want, I would have to wait till 28th of November for a price drop (not sure if real). I finally decided to get the red console on order, due to arrive on Wednesday for 680. I then left.

10 minutes later I returned because I decided to get the blue console instead. A was no longer there, so I spoke to another guy, B. I asked what's the best price for the blue console and the pokemon y game, he said 700 for the console, 180 for the game. I told him I came earlier, and was quoted 680 for the console only. He said he would need to speak to one of his seniors, a girl called C. C then proceeded to tell me I could get the console alone at 680. Being happy with the price, I decided to try and get a free screen protector, at which point she said she can't do that.

I decided to get the game elsewhere, but purchase their console for 680, as I was about to pay, she told me the price is now 730 for the console only. I asked why the sudden increase and her reasoning was "I thought you were gonna get the game too". She told me the prices for refurbished sets are going up too. I told her she quoted me 680 at first, but then she cut me off and said it has been priced at 730 for two weeks now, and that she didn't know because she was off for the past 2 days (f*** logic right?). So I asked if I took the game, how much would it cost? She quoted me 830 for both the game and console. (730 + 100)

Honestly, I think some side business is happening with the staff and it's not something I appreciate. So I left.

TL;DR,

In the space of 15 minutes, I got 3 different prices for the console (680,700,730) and 3 different prices for the game (170, 180, 100) from 3 different staff members, with all prices going up instead of down.

Add on, friend just told me that she wanted to purchase a game boy advance sp from them last time, and asked for a better screen protector from below the counter. She told them to install the screen protector while she went to withdraw money. Upon returning she noticed that the number of screen protectors below the counter hadn't changed, so she asked for the packaging of the screen protector they installed for her. They tried to dodge it but finally produced the packaging, which was of a cheaper and lower quality. Sigh.
