Same here. I also bought a 3DS system from Play-Asia.

Bought the Aqua Blue instead plus 2 games, PilotWings Resort + Ridge Racer amounting to a total of RM1,200.

And of course, got taxed also. 10% from total value. I think for all imported electronics devices/videogames, 10% is the standard taxable amount.

Actually, your adaptor is not fried.

You just can't use it in Malaysia because our voltage is different.

The adaptor that is included in US 3DS has the classification of 100-120V while the
ones that are included in Malaysia/S'pore version is the 220-240V.

I know this because I learned the hard way and had to buy a
stepdown converter from Play-Asia to be able to charge my 3DS.

That's okay because we get to register our 3DS in Club Nintendo and earn points!
