Ok guys, after driving my proton waja for nearly a week, here is my 2 cent review.

The engine is good to vroom, vroom but having some difficulty with the gear box. The comfort level in the car is good but i'm kindda curios with the odo meter panel where my steering wheel is blocking my view from seeing temperature gauge and the electronic signal such as airbag, handbrake..

My problem that i encounter with waja is the funny noise coming from dashboard, quite hard to engage the gear in 1, 2, 3 and reverse gear, my ABS light keeps on flashing even though i'm driving.

I took to Service Center at sec 13 and i can tell u that they did a good job on fixing the noise and the gear. The gear now is smooth but my abs light is Still on.

I cant blaim the service centre because when i took it yesterday, the light was off. Guess this time, i can show the proof and ask them to fix it.

Apart from this problem, the rest is ok and i'm kindda enjoying this ride after years driving my old car. Fuel consumption for full tank is kinnda ok. My ode meter is at 400 KM and my tank is alrady half tank.

The light is white-bright at night, can really see the road clear, and u can adjust the height of the lamp by changing the radius of the display.

Car has 4 holder for drinks, comes with enough space at the back. U can also put the back seat down and can carry longer things cuz there is a medium opening at the booth where you can extend the space.

The brake is quite responsive and the sound system is excellent.

I drove my friend's vios before and i can tell that the comfort in this waja is better than vios.

I'm not complaining of the defect in proton cuz there is no car that has no defect. Even Ford, BMW, Mercedes has fair share with their abs.

bmw abs issue --> http://www.unitedbimmer.com/forums/e36/223...lease-help.html

merceds abs issue --> http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w140-s-cla...-abs-light.html

Proton may not produce great car but i can say for Waja CPS, they did a good job after few problem in previous waja edition.

If only proton put full focus is fixing the common issues, i can dare to say that proton waja cps can be a really good challenge to the foreign car on its class.

anyway happy to drive it, and if there is a problem later on, Just fix and drive biggrin.gif.

Steering wheel is not adjustable? I tot all new proton models except savvy have this?

My persona has this, one time I sent for service the mechanic chanegd the postion i realised after I took it back and notice I cannot see the metres so I stopped and readjusted it back.

Even my old Satria (mitsu colt rebadge) had steering wheel adjust lever below the wheel column.

BTW Waja CPS is the bestest waja campro model, engine makes 120 bhp, more than regular IAFM campro.

I heard this car will be discontinued this year, that's why got another tered telling about huge discount to finish up the stock.

To bad it's a bit cramped inside, persona interior is somewhat bigger....

Cheap car of course dashboard looks a bit cheap.

Why people always complain about cheap looking plastic, you are buying cheap proton not luxury mercedes...

Hmm, I guess when persona gonna be replace in 3 years time, we will get Persona CPS with all the gooding stuff for it's final sendoff....

Accessory fail 2nd year
Aircond fail since warranty habis
But no mechanical failure
3AT is a fail
1.5 12v 86hp is a fail
Soft suspension and chassis is a fail too

TS,

nice to know that you are enjoying your car.

however, I think it is not acceptable to think "its ok" to have problems with your car because even other (more expensive) cars have it.

proton has been too complacent because they just make cars and they will sell because they are cheap. not because they are desirable. also, other cars are expensive because of proton. not because they are really worth more.

I hope you don't just accept the problems that you have. proton have been surviving because of 4 things:

1) the gomen
2) ppl cannot afford anything else
3) ppl don't bother about car, cheap can liao (as long as got wheels and can move)
4) tidak apa atitude

Sry, not flaming you or anything. Just that you should get what you pay for and don't let them get away with it. You paid for a new car, so you should get a new car, not a semi broken car

TS,

nice to know that you are enjoying your car.

however, I think it is not acceptable to think "its ok" to have problems with your car because even other (more expensive) cars have it.

proton has been too complacent because they just make cars and they will sell because they are cheap. not because they are desirable. also, other cars are expensive because of proton. not because they are really worth more.

*
cars nowadays will have some annoyances, making a car is no simple process.

i agree the car should have the quality, and i see the quality is there improving over the years.
there was a time where the quality dipped, but now proton have made many effort to get better quality as they realise they losing huge market share to various carmaker.

i beg to differ.

Satria GTI R3 (the one in black, recaro leather and lots of gooding stuff) pwns regular satria GTI.

waja mitsu is good, but still infamous as the power window problem really became apparent here.....

Waja driving experience nice, maintenance experience "might" be hell...
Will be good if have:
1) Shave 150kg off the kerb weight
2) Up at least 4 star safety rating
3) Good reliability on all parts (all)

Until then I no wan get proton rolleyes.gif

CPS still got torque dip at 2500-4000rpm or not? Because the torque dip is the cause the non-cps engine thirsty on non-highway driving...

no more torque dip because of the awesome vim uses long intake runner below 4400 rpm for more torque while the the cam will shift to higher cam lift profile to provide more horses and torque at 3800 rpm.. so how icon_idea.gif hmm.gif

most people who drive dunno technique.

always make sure you shift to highest gear possible as qucik as possible.

if u use auto trans, make sure the shift changes during peak torque (rpm metre at 3k rpm).

Must use your foot properly, or manually 'force' the auto gear to change.

also drive at steady 80km or 90km, no sudden accelerate or decellerate.

no idling (meaning standing still with engine and aircond turn on), if you have to wait for someone, wait outside of car, turn off engine.

I open window just a bit, and open all windows, including the back even if there's no one.....

Oh, ok, I forgot that IAFM somewhat improved the torque dip, as long as you shift gear before 3k rpm, torque dip will not appear

yes, it's hard to explain.

I drive both manual and auto car (my wife's myvi is manual) so I have experience both almost everyday.

On auto, you can 'force' gear change if you lift off the foot from the accelerator pedal when rpm metre reaches desired reading (Campro engine peak torque is at 2.5k and 4k, in between those two are the torque dip everyone here keeps mentioning).

So if you press accelerator and reach say 2.5k rpm and engne starts to vroom, lift off foot and engine computer will shft up accordingly.

Soemtimes if you always drive like this engine computer will also copy the style and shif automatically at the targeted rpm.

Well don't say In b4 proton basher because the people who owns whatever car will defend his dignity with it.

Malaysians. rolleyes.gif

And that's why you get more butthurt proton owners because it's enforced by the Government.

Imagine Buying an Altis at Brand New for 68.900.00 OTR price, then you will understand my meaning.

People will switch without 2nd thoughts.

Imagine Buying an Altis at Brand New for 68.900.00 OTR price, then you will understand my meaning.

hi bananajoe

wow what a review, i cant even believe am i reading about a proton car or a continental car in UK. it's just too good to be true. oh well, i am referring to their service.

i guess you are extremely happy with your waja right now and it's better than vios according to you. i agree with you. not only waja have a masculine look and agressive, it also have the best engine in the world, CPS 1.6 where it's exclusively use only by proton. it's way better than world recognize VVT-i technology by toyota that has been implemented in vios too.

proton is the best car manufacturer and they really care about their customer, that is why they have sponsor a thread in lowyat.net, the only thread where all proton car owner can get together and share all their never ending problem in one thread. i believe you will be regular there.

in case you lost, here is the link http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/499062

your car is few months and the dashboard got rattling sound? that is consider good, because it's the power of CPS engine roaring, causing neverending vibration. it didnt happen to vios at all. maybe because the engine is so weak it cannot vibrate at all. so silent, so smooth.

again, are you sure about how proton treat u for the service? they really did a good job? i am just too amaze.

inside sure feel new cuz no weather inside to affect
it's the outside / wear and tear part that won't last long
car's lifespan only around 200k...at that point...it's either the engine fail or the gearbox fail which need repair
and repair isn't cheap
manufacturer now very smart...all thing got lifespan...if no lifespan..how they earn money

car lifespan is 7 years or 200k....depending on usage

1) Dont try to say that with RM 50k, you could buy a Civic or what so ever. As this is Malaysia, you cant change the fact that Civic cost you RM 100k+ in here.

2) A bit disappointed to hear that your new Waja dashboard got sound although it just came out fresh. Try to get the Proton to service and settle these issues for you. I would not be happy unless I get all the problem fixed.

3) Thanks for TS sharing. However, I understand your standpoint to buy a Waja compared to getting a Vios / City, as you might got limited budget or not willing to commit to higher commitment level on car thingy.

the waja cps is the perfect choice for the mid income group.

you want the luxury and feratures found in (much) more expensive cars,
but you also want the practicality of economics in a market where cars are overpriced.

Its perfect for family use, or for a punchier drive without sacrifice the comfort and luxury of the leather steering, leather seats and cruise control that make it so nice to dirve.

yes. i agree

it's a perfect choice. with such price you will get a lenghty specs

and it comes with a very minimal and non serious problem

with just after few days of owning this car, the dasboard will start making noise, which is of course tolerable and it's nothing serious.

and after a year of owning, the power window will broke, but it's ok and tolerable since the repair cost is only around rm150-200 (im not too sure)

<RM50K for a waja is not stupid man. It's value for money.
Those can afford for sure go for Civic or even Conti.. But not forgeting as the premium cars, it will comes wth premium parts pricing too..So as wear & tears kick-n, can start to cry liao.

Proto although having lotsa problems in the past, has improved a lot but this slow improvement abit too late as ppl thinking.mindset still of the olden day when Waja still having power windows proble.. Yeah my old waja also facing this. Well that's past and they learnt. and reoplaced the "Plastic gear" to metal. That I think solved the problem. Furthermore, nowadays they already started Their predelivery QC programme liao that does not exist prior to 2010

for funny noises, just highlight them to the SC during every service. its not that bad really.

power window issue for waja cps is very less. common problem is window come off the bracket. its a quick fix rm20 for labour at most workshops. the problem is due to the rubber strip gripping the window not tight enough, and sometime the window "sticks" to the rubber strip on the door, so when you wind down, it partially comes off the bracket.

all cars have their share of problems.

its whether you are willing to live with some extra miinor annoyances. i drive proton since forever, and i like it.

i like the fact i can have a comfy, cheap car that does its job pretty well. its taken care of me over the years.

i like the fact that i saved a good portion of money to afford a nicer home.

when i am more capable, i will buy a more expensive car. till then, the proton is helping enable me to that goal.

July 2004 my check brake light (rotors) came on. BMW of Manhattan told me the problem. And I got new rotors and (i think) pads at their BMW dealership and since then over the year I've put 17,000 miles on my car.

This morning my ABS check light came on....but of course my brakes are working fine. I'm not sure what should I be looking for. Does this mean I need new pads, rotors, sensors, what?

you can play a little game when driving
just take notice of the colour of the car and see the driver.

u think things last for ever. even though premium and can u read their problem? only occurred after years and years and tens of thousand of miles just minor stuff doh.gif u failed sir...

why dont u find few threads regarding annoying problem like power window failure and door handle broken just after few weeks of purchasing a brand spanking new beemer and merc

else u can take ur failed wajunk and drive off cliff

after 2 years of driving it - it's still the same except that i broke the 5 years warranty by using the Royal Purple Fully Synthetic oil and feels my waja cps just woke up from sleep with better fuel consumption.Power window are all ok,AT gearbox is ok.

the waja cps is the perfect choice for the mid income group.

you want the luxury and feratures found in (much) more expensive cars,
but you also want the practicality of economics in a market where cars are overpriced.

Its perfect for family use, or for a punchier drive without sacrifice the comfort and luxury of the leather steering, leather seats and cruise control that make it so nice to dirve.

no to forget the auto folded side mirror and the drive by wire thumbup.gif

those who said Satria Neo CPS cramped & not comfortable, i guess they never try drive in it before

i've experienced it liao, but my friend's car la...already modified Exhaust Pipe)...its not that cramped, & surprisingly comfortable for a person like me (172m tall 82kg weight..yes, imma fat ass)...

& I like the force when the car speed up 140km & onward...shit man..its awesome, unlike Vios (i've tried it, Vios G...it sucks, honestly...), i can feel the CPS power, no gegar2 wan...only dare to 160km, sked la...

Satria Neo CPS rocks...!!!
*
of course - with that kind of body + 150hp (waja cps is 125hp) - surely it rocks.

my neo cps almost 25k and still running good.. yesterday vroom2 with golf gti at elite around 190kmh but later gave up due to heavy traffic.. im must say that once ur cps kicking in, speed can easily went up and for my neo, cps is activated on around 4500++ rpm.. for what i paid, i think im quite satisfied.. will continue using it until i can afford civic..

depend on part one la

most car maker punya warranty refer to the item with longest warranty

most other part after1 yr no more warranti they will state in some obscure section of the manual or guide
