Based on the countdown on the Asus Malaysia FB page, looks like official launch and pricing announcement is on next week Wednesday 18 May, 8am. Wonder how much will be the price for tablet alone without dock? Based on SG pricing for dock alone is S$199 (RM480), and if the RM1799 is not a promo bundle price, best guess for tablet standalone could be ~RM1350 - 1400++, somewhere closer to ipad2 price. For further comparison, Asus Philippines FB page admin commented their local launch for Philippines is in June, price PHP 21999 (didn't state tablet alone or bundle), equivalent to around RM1527. Added on May 9, 2011, 10:19 pmDigged up more info: 1 year Global Warranty for the tablet, same as singapore units. While the asus tablet is lacking in a normal USB port for us to plug thumbdrives, mouse etc., some forummers on XDA have managed to use a normal female to female USB converter to change the charging cable into a useable USB port, although not 100% compatible with all USB hardware yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056592

QUOTE(Cynox @ May 13 2011, 02:42 PM) rumour is August this year. Of course it is US time, Malaysia launch will be much later if the rumour is true. Tegra2 is actually long overdue to make it into tablet, it was announced more than 6 months ago. I believe the delay may due to the readiness of OS - the Honeycomb 3.0. So it will not be a big surprise if they launch Tegra3 in a short time since the OS (honeycomb) is already available now. I can wait.... Just need to get a tablet that can last longer. I waited for my Desire HD (best phone ever ) and I think it can last me for few years. By the time the Tegra3 tablets launch in Malaysia, Tegra4 launch will also be 3-4 months after that, so it will be a never ending cycle of waiting

QUOTE(alexwks @ May 16 2011, 09:31 AM) Seems like tmr is the launch? anyone knows where's the venue? need to queue up from midnight onwards? The countdown date has no indication whether it's a sell launch or just a pricing announcement. If immediately available for sale on the date, I'm sure the garage sales vendors here would already have pre-orders lists going. But from their silence it seems Asus has yet to give them any info or stocks even. Anyways no need for those queuing activity lah, only those hipster mac fanatics want to copy orang putih eat too full nothing to do.
