Got to know from Youtube about Eee Pad Transformer launch in Taiwan.
These are short sketches about Eee Pad Transformer, which I find it entertaining and hilarious. rclxms.gif

Cool. Do you know roughly how heavy is the pad?
The detachable touch screen and keyboard docking sounds cool.

Yes, that were the reasons I find it interesting. Not like iOS with so many limitations.
But I heard this initial batch of Eee Pad is only equipped with WiFi feature. 3G version will come in only about 2-3 months later.

Judging by price tag on Taiwan $500 tablet extra $100 for keyboard... it seem won't be so cheap compare to iPad...

The keyboard is a extra battery...

Asus states 680g...

that's slightly lighter than Xoom (720g), but way heavier than iPad2 (602g) and new Galaxy Tab (595g for 10.1, 470g for 8.9)...

But it's with android apps. So should have whatever other android tablets can have.
And good news is... my friend in Taipei told me it's Android 3.0 honeycomb!
The performance and interface should bring greater satisfaction than those tablets with Android 2.2

Can't it has an ARM Processor( Tegra 2)

I had played around a tablet with Win 7. (Viewsonic VPAD 10)

Win 7 on a tablet = Blasphemy

Anyway, can't wait for it to land here.
Now to get find a proper office Suite for Android. sweat.gif

there's no doubt that windows will be coming for ARM chips very soon, it wants a piece of the (tablet) pie very badly. anyway, there are some tabs that runs on atom chips, these can be dual booted, like the viewpad.

if i'm going to buy a tablet, i really want one that has windows OS and also android in it. plus a proper USB socket for my pendrive and also bluetooth connection to my wireless keyboard and mouse, not to mention a stand that is built into the tablet's back so when I'm using Windows, the tab itself could act like a monitor, and the whole thing will become a laptop. this will be the ultimate tablet / laptop / netbook. how hard can it be?

one thing i don't like about ASUS, they make crappy motherboards, always fry within 3 years. i had 3 different ASUS mobo in the last few years, all fried. i used MSI, GIGABYTE, INTEL and even PC chips bought in the same period, all are still running. in fact, the longest running mobo is PC chips! it's 10 years old and still going strong, from windows 2k to winxp. i even installed win 7 in it, although it's lagging a bit, but it's still usable! and i'm not saying i choose which one to abuse, all of them are running almost 24/7

of course i'm serious. well known doesn't mean it's reliable, proton is also well known in malaysia, does their brand makes them good? i can confirm it's their motherboard's problem, because when it fried, i took out everything on it (processor, RAM, PSU) and put all of them into another brand's mobo, it worked fine until now. 3 units of Asus mobo from low spec to high spec (celeron 2 years plus, P4 and dual core not more than 2 years) also faced this problem before and all 3 also i swapped out the cpu, rams and stuff into other mobo. after swapping to other brand, the hardware is still running until now (24/7 as usual). and 1 year ago i purchased a core2 duo with Asus mobo (giving it one last chance), the mobo spoiled within 6 months, brought it back for warranty, now keeping it in store room collecting dust because i bought a GIGABYTE mobo to replace it when it was sent back to claim warranty.

i swore i wouldn't use ASUS anymore. i'm not bashing this brand, i'm stating only facts.

of course APPLE apps store is better. Android is just new. BTW, I think they will having bigger apps store than APPLE in the future.

Added on April 1, 2011, 12:05 amseems cool, but one thing to be concern is the sensitivity of touch screen, hope the touch screen is not slow as the TOSHIBA AS100 tablet.

The rumor said the prices are as below:

16GB - RM1.5k (~NT$14900)
32GB - RM1.8k (~NT$17900)

Hope the bundled keyboard will price at RM300 (~NT$3000).

All 3 of my rigs are on ASUS motherboards, with the oldest at 5 years. Still going strong and one of them is where I'm typing this from. I love their little innovations too.

Gigabyte one was fried on my 2nd rig 2-3 years back.

r u serious? Asus is well known in MOBO... IMO u jz the unlucky 1~ whistling.gif

QUOTE(stormlcc @ Mar 30 2011, 01:52 PM)
of course i'm serious.  well known doesn't mean it's reliable, proton is also well known in malaysia, does their brand makes them good?  i can confirm it's their motherboard's problem, because when it fried, i took out everything on it (processor, RAM, PSU) and put all of them into another brand's mobo, it worked fine until now.

Added on April 5, 2011, 11:18 pmBTW the videos posted by TS looks like an excellent parody by ASUS of the US comedy "The Big Bang Theory". If you watched the show before, you can see ASUS's ad company really did a good job imitating the show, lol! Even the name, "The EeePad Story" rhymes with the original show's name.

if you read the review itself, its not bad, but the reviewer is a Apple fan, thus the rating for this tablet is totally off

I mean..

THE GOOD
Lovely IPS display with wide viewing angles
Tegra 2 dual-core processor
Dock adds connectivity, keyboard and battery life
THE BAD
Broken camera software
Highly reflective glass
Honeycomb still has issues to iron out
Ipad 2 itself has a terrible cam, ALSO a highly reflective glass, Honeycomb performs better than iOS as a tablet OS in terms of multitasking and notification system,
how does this get a 7/10 but 9/10 for iPad 2

Seems like software issues in the Xoom are still present. Will see how fast the updates come, for it's a shame if that is slow considering how good the whole package seems on paper.

how can it be around the xoom's price, its 399 for the lower spec.

399 used times 3 = thats less then 1300rm. so it will be around 1300-1400rm.

right now the us dollar is weakened, that it competes 2.995 ringgit to 1 us dollar.

Anandtech has a favourable review of the device, although there's still some niggling issues with the dock detection and camera/video.

android honeycomb tablets manufacturers are having a very bad marketing decisions here, ipad2 most likely will be launched this friday.

if they want to compete with ipad2, they should release it before ipad2.

i've been waiting for honeycomb tablet to be released here for so long, if ipad2 coming this friday, i will get ipad2 since i need it for travel purpose.

hmm ... isn't it only USD399 for 16 GB at state ? That's quite a big difference from RM1750.
*
that price excluding local US states tax and cost of shipping + tax in malaysia + profit margin.

do you think people sell things for charity and bear all the cost for you?

i'm not trying to be a b**** here, you can always buy it in singapore starting middle of may for SGD$699. just a little bit cheaper than the price irwan stated.

i hope maxis price it right, i know xoom is expensive everywhere.
i already sold my ipad1 anticipated for any reasonably price honeycomb tablet or ipad2, whichever comes first with the right price.

regarding ipad2, with all the rumours and sightings of ipad2 stocks in some resellers store, plus some stores secretly taking pre orders, it is pretty much confirmed ipad2 will be launched on the same date as singapore which is 29th april.

- maxis also hiring part time promoters for ipad data plan for the weekend throughout the month of may.
- machines hiring temporary sales assistant for 29th & 30th april.

According to transformer hardware review video posted by asus... It's say 3G "module" is optional... If they say model I can understand... But I kinda feel asus gonna come out with something like 3g usb stick..

But I may be wrong...

ok, my mistake, confuse that was the official Asus launch and pricing.

Comparing iPad2 with Transformer, It is USD399 vs USD 499 at US but it is SGD699 vs SGD728 at Singapore. For whatever reason, it seems the Transformer is price higher for this part of the world.

The reason is currency exchange... But with RM going strong against US... we might see the price become reasonable...

1USD = RM3

i will wait for maxis xoom pricing first (provided they announce it before ipad2 on sale), if it's too expensive i will buy ipad2 as well, no other choice. i can change to honeycomb tablet later on and sell ipad2.

apple product very easy to sell, i sold my ipad1 last sunday after a few hours posted it online for sale. laugh.gif

I couldn't wait and ordered one from Taiwan through Ebay, got it yesterday smile.gif

This little baby is gorgeous, but as has been reported, the Honeycomb software is still buggy and had frequent crashes. I got an OTA firmware update last night, hopefully that stabilizes things a bit.

Impressions:

1. Screen is nice, but very reflective, especially in bright conditions.
2. Fantastic for reading ebooks and magazines - form factor just nice and easy to hold for long periods.
3. Not many Honeycomb optimized apps yet - most are just direct ports from Froyo versions.
4. Asus built in apps all work great.

Yup, there's a mini HDMI port on the tablet itself. I tried it just now, it worked for 5 mins then suddenly the eee pad died and refused to start! I think cheapo hdmi cable, sigh. Luckily, after 10 mins the eee pad restarted without any side effects.

with the ipad2 launching with very low price, they better price it right.

so far ipad2 is at the top of my list unless xoom and eepad launched with attractive price and their availability are before 12th may.

I dont think Android tablet will be cheap. Apple has got the volume to mass produce as compared to Motorola, HTC, Asus, Acer, Samsung fighting among themselves for the small piece of pie. I really wish Google speeds thing up a little bit and standardize Market so that everyone has access to pay-apps. I also hate the fact that I had to use market enabler to download updates for Google Apps like Youtube, Maps etc cos I lose 3G data when doing so. Even though I hate Apple for not supporting Flash, I like the fact it does not discriminate where you are, have same access as those American.

Im so tempted to get eee pad but iPad 2 launch earlier make my hand itch.
I already have an iPhone don't want another oversized iPhone. Gotta resist.

Apple apps for tablet is just better than google at the moment.

I want a tablet to surf, my iPhone 3.5 screen make me tired looking at it, also needed an easier device to transfer all my movies.

I guess android is a better choice, I think.

When google release new version of their own apps (gmail, maps, etc... you can check if you have latest version using appbrain)... usually in here we cant update it because we cant access paid apps & protected apps... the only way to access it by using market access or market enabler... Don't know bout google device since never own one but non-google device all need to do this way...

correct, just like latest google maps. the update push based on your sim location. because google want to offer only new version if the feature have the maps support. for example 3D building rendering not available in asia here except japan. just a have fun to switch in market enabler to other region. then u will have the update, explore to US map have to look, it's cool....

official malaysia asus transformer coming soon
but the price is not attractive at all

US (the lowest spec)
transformer $399
ipad2 $499

MY
transformer RM1750
ipad2 RM1499

i purposely did the price comparison because the ipad2 is launching on tomorrow. that's the asus biggest competitor i can say that not in term of OS part, but the price part.

I want the tablet to play most of the format without needing to convert into mp4, so much hassle. Also transferring file to eeepad seems easier

One thing I like eeepad over iPad2 , eeepad has microsd reader and also optional dock with USB then can read thumbdrive.

iPad 2 camera connection kit can read thumbdrive if jailbreak?

Yup.. Ipad 2 16gb WIFI version having very attractive price tag...
I'm very disappointed with the Asus Transformer price tag... but we haven't heard any official news from Asus Malaysia yet. I would say the RM1750 is still speculation price... If that's true... I think I will jump ship...

Acer Iconia Tab W500 with 32GB+WIFI+keyboard cost only RM1699....

S$699 should include 7% GST. If deduct the 7% - S$653 which convert to only 1,568.

eyeing on this too to use as portable storage of my DSLR outing when use with a portable hdd.

Jailbreak is one thing, but what they rely on is still soft decode. 1GHz Dual Core A9 just is not enough. Even on my WinTel tablet with C2D 1.3GHz, it barely play 1080P content. Neither Apple or Google has release GPU Video Acceleration API for software devs.

Singapore Pre-order already sold out, but the tablet comes with free docking only for SGD 699 [~RM1689]
have to wait the official launch with price revised.
*
This price was only for first preorder for 100 units. The actual retail in Spore will be S$ 898 ( RM 2173 )

Thats why Android tablet having hard time catching Apple outside of US. They were heavily subsidised in the states but here, its just not worth it.

Is a simple decision - just ask what you wish to do most on the tablet and you have the answer. Decide based on your NEEDS not your wants. Both has its pros and cons. Do not decide based on pricing - this is the worst criteria as pricing of both is not much difference. Pricing is only of consideration if there is a vast difference

IPad2 is cheap because of the volume that they can sell. Apple do huge bulk purchase for the components they use and they can get really good price with that. In term of spec, the only thing IPad2 have less is RAM ( mainly effect multi tasking ) and their GPU is about twice faster than Tegra2.

I'm not sure how many units Asus have for the launching date but all the stores in the US are out of stock... with all the promotion plus huge list of resellers, I thought it would be easy to get stock. But now all those resellers are either preorder, or just out of stock.

Yeah, the worst thing is some of them actually sell cheaper than ipad2 at US, it is like the vendor doesn't really care about the market here.

I would just say choosing a tablet just purely based on pricing alone is the worst criteria. One need to understand the differences among all the various tablets - on Android OS alone each brand has its unique features. iOS is a completely different OS and using it to compare with Android OS one needs to study both OS pro and cons and decision made based on which OS features meet your needs better.

Ya, I understand that. but since android tablets prices are much more cheaper than ipad2 in US but it is in another way in Malaysia/Singapore. That makes us felt that psychological imbalance somehow.

Seems like the Asus EEE Transformer production line has been crippled by lack of parts. Could it be Apple hoarding all the IPS screen production? Possible.

I suspect Apple took some of their stock as well, given that the iPad 2's screens are sourced from 4 different manufacturers, one who most likely was supposed to supply Asus.

Hi all, in regards to price difference in US & SG for Eee Pad Transformer, there're many factors to it as different countries will have different pricing structure which we cannot release anymore information as it's confidential. In addition, warranty for US purchase is only local warranty (covered in US) while for SG units, it's international warranty. Thanks.

Because the production of Asus too slow. Only 10k per month, they expected 200k per month. The japan quake effected the production speed.

I haven't ever handled a Wifi only Android device yet but anyway:

To buy paid apps on a device, you need to use Market Enabler or a similar tool to fool the Android Market to assume that your SIM card is from a telco in a country that can buy paid apps. What about the Transformer?

Based on the countdown on the Asus Malaysia FB page, looks like official launch and pricing announcement is on next week Wednesday 18 May, 8am.

Wonder how much will be the price for tablet alone without dock? Based on SG pricing for dock alone is S$199 (RM480), and if the RM1799 is not a promo bundle price, best guess for tablet standalone could be ~RM1350 - 1400++, somewhere closer to ipad2 price.

For further comparison, Asus Philippines FB page admin commented their local launch for Philippines is in June, price PHP 21999 (didn't state tablet alone or bundle), equivalent to around RM1527.

Added on May 9, 2011, 10:19 pmDigged up more info:
1 year Global Warranty for the tablet, same as singapore units.

See pdf page 16:

acer iconia a500 is launching soon as well..
with price 1599..

it have a better build, and better function with USB port and SD card reader..

personally i perfer acer, cause asus tranformer always out of stock(in US),and asus after sale service sucks.....

the tranformer is so highly rated because of its price in US,but here in msia v can get IPAD 2 with cheaper price....

+1 for asus.
beside 16G internal storage; or maybe there is 32G launch soon, not sure
The extra storage extend options = tablet itself have microSD card slot / keyboard docking have SD card reader / 2 USB ports
and also second battery on dock, just love it...
1 thing missed out, if there is extra HDMI port on dock, will be perfect... but not that bad, the tablet itself have a micro HDMI port.

While the asus tablet is lacking in a normal USB port for us to plug thumbdrives, mouse etc., some forummers on XDA have managed to use a normal female to female USB converter to change the charging cable into a useable USB port, although not 100% compatible with all USB hardware yet.

So many tablets. After playing with Ipad2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab firsthand, I would wait for this year's lineup for android tablets, besides Xoom.

So many choices, so little money but hope this one would be like a very good choice for my first tablet. tongue.gif

If it's indeed below 2K, I won't mind that! tongue.gif Ipad2 is a nice integration of both the hardware and software, hence the smooth operations and all, but

for me the OS is just the too boring for me. rolleyes.gif Plus, with the said batteries life, can't get better than that. thumbup.gif

Then it is better you ask your bro check for you since he is there. Apparently the international warranty offered is different in different country . I read on ASUS Singapore page, Singapore sets are with international warranty which they advertised it as a prominent feature.

rumour is August this year. Of course it is US time, Malaysia launch will be much later if the rumour is true. Tegra2 is actually long overdue to make it into tablet, it was announced more than 6 months ago. I believe the delay may due to the readiness of OS - the Honeycomb 3.0. So it will not be a big surprise if they launch Tegra3 in a short time since the OS (honeycomb) is already available now.

By the time the Tegra3 tablets launch in Malaysia, Tegra4 launch will also be 3-4 months after that, so it will be a never ending cycle of waiting smile.gif

but i think product with tegra 3 will be the highlight of the new model in US mobile conference or exhibition end of the year, then at the same time reveal tegra 4..like wat last yr happened... then the process repeat again

and if refer to samsung's product, after 3-4 months time samsung might just only launched their new tab for a while.. samsung wont go kill off their own new device like tis within 3-6 months....so do other manufacturer like sony or asus or even acer.. dun forget they still got new model not yet launching and might using tegra 2 also.. so in my opinion, tegra 3 is still need some time to wait.. fastest will be dec ..or even till beginning of next yr or later.. they wont do such rugi business ... just my 2 cent tongue.gif so its really no ending waiting game...

Well, i don't care much on the video or photo quality of this device... how much time you will really using your phone camera to shoot a quality picture? And now,it's a tablet with huge screen and size... i don't think it's practical to shoot using it.

And yes... the Honeycomb is on the way to the Transformers soon. The Asus Eee Facebook confirm that too. So, it won't be an outdated piece of antique gadget for the next few months...

Am pretty much hyped about this device already. Just waiting for the official pricing for our market. brows.gif Other devices have the 'brightest, thinnest

or lightest' as their forte's, but Asus, for me, has practicality and competitive pricing range. rclxms.gif With that battery life, very much appreciated in a

long journey and watch at least few movies to kill the boredom, not to mention other things you can do with android devices. brows.gif

The countdown date has no indication whether it's a sell launch or just a pricing announcement.
If immediately available for sale on the date, I'm sure the garage sales vendors here would already
have pre-orders lists going. But from their silence it seems Asus has yet to give them any info or stocks even.

Anyways no need for those queuing activity lah, only those hipster mac fanatics want to copy orang
putih eat too full nothing to do.

i think there will at least some ready stock for sale at launch day coz Singapore also has limited stock for sales but most did not come with the dock bundle.

selling like hot cakes or not also depends on where are you. In JB here, ppl dun have much urge to get the latest gadget (or maybe those who really cannot wait already get theirs from Spore tongue.gif ). When DiGi launched the Desire HD, many run like headless chicken in klang valley to hunt for it - the stock was so limited everywhere. But when I went to 1 of the 3 DiGi outlets that has the stock on launch day, only me there waiting for them to process the packages just arrived from KL. No one else seems to care about it. Even some DiGi staff din know about the phone. laugh.gif

I was at Challenger Spore ( Funan) and on one big table - all the tablets were displayed. I tested the Xoom, Iconia, EEE Pad and I must say I am most impressed with the Iconia performance. The Xoom seems heaviest and not so slick as the Eee Pad/Iconia. The Eee pad was the ugliest of the lot

Really? Benny
Hmm..., then, I think I shld really consider buying Iconia and no need to wait for eee pad.
But, Iconia has the lowest battery life among all the tablets according to the review.

Went to senheng n test out xoom vs iconia. Iconia is much more value for money with almost same spec but cheaper by RM500. Some slight lag noted when zooming +/- web sites but immaterial. Asus not out yet n senheng will not distribute so I will wait n see as 1799 with keyboard is worth consideration. Besides, I am also eager to compare both screen. From video review, Iconia screen colour looks a bit washout compare to Eee pad. (maybe I got use to samoled screen)

i also tested a500 and xoom this afternoon..my first impression when compare both side by side, xoom looks much more compact... but when hold on hand, xoom feel so much heavier although not much different in real figure.. and playing with both, i also feel iconia is smoother a bit..but the screen's saturation, i feel xoom perform a bit better and more colourful..iconia looks a bit pale.. tongue.gif and the built, iconia as usual acer's quality.. doh.gif but acceptable..i played a game come original with iconia, forgot wat name.. abt warior.. first when opened loaded as normal..then i closed it and flip among the home screen, then reopened that game again, it hanged...nth appear for more than 2 minutes.. so i closed and reopened again doh.gif sweat.gif rm500 is really quite a big difference.. i will also vote for iconia if let me choose.. tongue.gif i am also waiting to see eeepad .. whistling.gif

i also tested a500 and xoom this afternoon..my first impression when compare both side by side, xoom looks much more compact... but when hold on hand, xoom feel so much heavier although not much different in real figure.. and playing with both, i also feel iconia is smoother a bit..but the screen's saturation, i feel xoom perform a bit better and more colourful..iconia looks a bit pale..  tongue.gif and the built, iconia as usual acer's quality..  doh.gif but acceptable..i played a game come original with iconia, forgot wat name.. abt warior.. first when opened loaded as normal..then i closed it and flip among the home screen, then reopened that game again, it hanged...nth appear for more than 2 minutes.. so i closed and reopened again doh.gif  sweat.gif  rm500 is really quite a big difference.. i will also vote for iconia if let me choose..  tongue.gif i am also waiting to see eeepad ..  whistling.gif

ya..i also feel 3.0 is not as smooth as wat i want.. not only iconia, even xoom also a bit lagging feel.. heard than 3.1 improve a lot.. and i read a few review also saying transformer also lag a bit.. guess is the honeycomb problem..but so far, i am attracted with the tegra zone's game.. drool.gif

i read from some users saying it support pen drive.. and external hdd if i am not mistaken.. but better confirm first.. usb port on a500 is really a plus.. and transformer's built on the dock is not that convenient and i read many users complain that it just like u bring a netbook if u bring the dock out..lose the purpose of tablet oledi.. hmm.gif

for me the tablet works great with the keyboard dock.. i for sure will bring both together everywhere coz still feel weird/uncomfortable holding the tablet alone for long period .. great for movie watching as well.. some more with incredible long hours of battery usage when docked!

If you can, don't buy those android tablet until it is updated to 3.1 . The 3.0 release is more a beta quality release that's rushed out to launch before ipad2.

Yes, Google had resolved the driver and lag issue from Android 3.0. I'm more interested on Android 3.1, waiting and searching for review.
the real tablet battle start from Android 3.1....

except that he only need to wait for a few months, while you need to wait for a year or more.
you do know that Tegra 3 is coming really soon? Tegra 2 devices actually took longer than it should to be launched
the same thing can happen to Tegra 3 devices though, but that is still unknown now
and I doubt that it will be the same as Tegra 2.

Rumor is that Tegra 3 will be released by August, and soon after that Tegra 3 tablets will come, which WILL be within this year.

but of course its just rumors after all, you can choose to not believe it tongue.gif

wait for another year is a bit too outrageous.... laugh.gif

It is very logical to expect Tegra 3 will be launched very soon. Coz Tegra 2 is already an out-dated product as it was waiting for Honeycomb 3.0 to launch. Since Honeycomb 3.1 is due in June, the OS is really get ready for the Tegra 3 in Fall. And all the other Asus accessories will be readily available by then. wink.gif Sometime in tech gadgets world, it is not a very good move to jump into the first train, the second batch normally will be more refined with all the bugs ironed out. A good recent examples is the sandy bridge chipset launched by Intel. icon_idea.gif

transformer is really tempting. but i cant deny the "ugly" look of it, i mean, the design, cant it be better? sighh.. and i guess this is the first gen of tablet+keyboard device, so the next gen should be lot better...arghhh..buy an ipad 2 and use it while waiting for better android tablet, then DITCH the ipad2 into the drain. (the reason i said this is coz Apple device hard to drop price, means can sell a bit high later to get an Android..haha)..urghh.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif flex.gif flex.gif

so might as well wait till Fall for the Tegra 3 new Transformer II.
wait for another year is a bit too outrageous....

Remote desktop only for Win7. The Tegra2 processor (and all other ARM processors) cannot run the Intel x86 instruction set natively.

Win8 could be possible depending on the awesomeness of the folks on XDA-developers.

i pre-ordered eepad with docking. now got email says my order got transferred to asus malaysia midvalley and docking not available. argh! why their business is like this!? (they refunding my money for the docking tho).

and since i pre-ordered earlier than anybody else before they announce in their asus fb, hopefully i can get free leather pouch to pay back their nonsense behavior. kinda disappointed overall. hopefully am not disapointed with the tablet.

^Heres the latest update for you guys to refer.. NO DOCKING UNTIL END OF JUNE!!! my tablet will only survive 8 hours++ without it.

Windows 7 was compiled for running on the X86 CPU instruction set. This is only supported on Intel, AMD, VIA and one or two very small CPU makers.

Nvidia, Qualcomm, TI, Samsung and other CPU makers are using ARM instruction sets. If you want Windows on ARM, wait for windows 8 as it will support ARM processors.

Window 7 wasn't design to run on tegra2 system and etc but you can install and run other linux distro like ubuntu .You have to chroot it to run ubuntu ontop of android.
http://trsohmers.com/2011/03/06/how-to-run...-motorola-xoom/

Wanted to ask , it's a must to buy a bundle of docking to get best price RM 1799 or buying tablet this month 1499 and getting the same price for docking RM 300 if buying at next month ?

How would an IPS panel screws up gaming experience? If that's the case, all iPad is screwed too.

Only for games that requires high rate of refresh rate. Generally, most IPS suffer from this problem, except the higher end model like H-IPS where it has been improved dramatically. Still, not all would be affected. Perhaps those who play FPS (First Person Shooter) game will be critical of it due to the ghost image.

cannot replace your laptops functionality to run windows. as far as reading/writing normal document and powerpoint files i believe should be no issues but not so sure about the formatting (its like using staroffice and editing your word/powerpoint files -> could lead to formatting issues). photoshop..there's photoshop express for android but not sure if available for android 3.x (honeycomb). photoshop express only allows basic editing, not sure about other photo editing software on android. conclusion is that it can never replace your laptop, its just like ipad 1 / 2 cant do the same either.

seriously? why would it look weird when the concept is 98% same as other tablets in the market right now? i am getting sick of all these kinds of comments. without the dock it would be vehicles without wheels, pens without papers, men without women? ying without yang?

come on, guys just need to chillax. the dock is NOT a must, but rather, it gives you an OPTION. if you justify a tablet's utility that a tablet is useless without the keyboard dock, then what would happen to iPad, Xoom and Iconia?

i for one is not willing and will not get the keyboard dock, i want my portability, i am not lugging another piece of hardware just because ASUS offers an option to do so. tablets do not require dock especially in mobility. keyboard docks are not a necessity, period.

i would not get the dock. even if i had an iPad, Xoom or Iconia and even if they all come with the same option (keyboard dock) i am not buying as well. i have my laptop/desktop that does all the things needed with keyboard. and they are so much more efficient.

RM300 for a Battery pack with keyboard and touchpad. Consider a bargain already.
Buying extra BT kb + mouse + battery pack sure more than RM300.

I would said Eee pad + dock is a good option. Worth a wait.

Anyway, everyone have their choice. So Cheer up and be patient a bit lo

a bargain? are you a reseller in disguise? do you just happen to walk into a hypermarket and momentarily sweep all the items that come with 10% discount tags because they umm.. are a bargain? tough nut to crack that kinda thinking man.

at the end of the day, i want my tablet to be just a tablet. i'm sure a lot of people out there agree with me.

Yes I agree if I want a keyboard I would buy a laptop.

But mouse function sometimes is necessary especially when you want to set profile picture in Facebook webpage where you have to use mouse to crop your picture.

its really a bargain at 300 actually since its battery + keyboard dock + 2 usb ports + card reader..it suits my need when i want to type with a physical keyboard and when i want to transfer stuff to the tablet. for those who are ok without the keyboard dock then go ahead just get the tablet lar..no biggie, this is just up to you entirely, no need to get snappy rite? tongue.gif

my point exactly, dont like then dont buy lar..not a big deal..so many choices out there. also the analogy of buying all the stuff at 10% discount is just..haha..nothing to say lar...why i said RM 300 is a bargain is because of battery pack + 2 usb port + card reader. Apple's "awe-inspiring" keyboard dock which only works in PORTRAIT mode (lame right?) already costs RM 228 (if i recall correctly) not including battery pack + usb ports + card reader. I think if those extras thrown in probably about same price or even more (cos its an apple!). anyway, no need upset, dont like, dont buy. simple as that.

Not even one confirm , so it's not suitable discuss yet.

Maybe the raise the price for tablet and reduce the price for the dock ?
dock = price fine
tablet = price expensive since US only 399x3 =Rm 1200

tablet = price expensive since US only 399x3 =Rm 1200

It is S$100 in Singapore

I can tell you guys one thing for sure..The initial plan is to sell the keyboard more expensive than RM300 in the market if purchased separately. Its only RM300 if you purchase it together. However, now that ASUS has stock problems, they are revising this again and might be selling it at RM300 regardless.
Source : ASUS themselves. lol

I'm going to be starting a new thread for the Transformer. This can be the official thread, I have no problems. The other one will be for actual support since I have the device here in my hands smile.gif

Also, please bear in mind that you’ll be getting the Eee Pad tablet this Saturday at RM1,498.

As you were well informed, the docking keyboard will be available later in Malaysia.

Therefore, ASUS will offer a special rate for dock purchase at only RM300 to the first 150 loyal pre-order customers.

uncle benny, are you sure one can buy the keyboard for just S$100 ?? I thought that price is only applicable if you buy tab S$699 + dock S$100 = S$799

but if it is S$100 outright buy without the combo deal, indeed its a very nice price

hhaha, i'll take asus malaysia's offer anytime.

of course, if they are so generous to sell the keyboard at rm100 only, who would complain tongue.gif haha

my point exactly, dont like then dont buy lar..not a big deal..so many choices out there. also the analogy of buying all the stuff at 10% discount is just..haha..nothing to say lar...why i said RM 300 is a bargain is because of battery pack + 2 usb port + card reader. Apple's "awe-inspiring" keyboard dock which only works in PORTRAIT mode (lame right?) already costs RM 228 (if i recall correctly) not including battery pack + usb ports + card reader. I think if those extras thrown in probably about same price or even more (cos its an apple!). anyway, no need upset, dont like, dont buy. simple as that.

yeah u right ..... even my power bank cost rm 180 (pls don't compare those imitation) ......

The apps issue is an overplay hype/problem. 99 % of my smartphone apps runs without problems, resolution still full screen without any bluriness issues on my Acer Iconia A500 ( Honeycomb 3.01 ) - I have about 100+ 3rd party apps that I similarly use in my SGS II

this is what posted in iconia's thread for market enabler... but of cause need to root your device first..
maybe someone can try it out...

The country limitation can be overcome. Follow these steps.

1) Root the device.(Don't ask how to do it..google)
2) Install Market enabler
3) disable the location and security settings (uncheck all three)
4) under the application setting, go to manage application and then look for Market. Under market, force stop and clear all data.
5) Setup US VPN account(if you dont know...thn Google) and then create a new google account through this VPN. DO NOT use the existing one.
6) Run Market enabler and use one of the us carriers settings
7) Log in to the market using this new account. Run Market and it should work now

Strange - I could find and install Flash Player 10.3 onto my Iconia A500 from the Market. If you have FP on your SGS II - use ES File Explorer - select Apps Manager - scroll down the list of apps - right click on Flash Player and select backup ; the APK file will be backup onto the SD card/backups . Copy the apk file over to the EEE Pad and just install it

is there any other way of enabling apps download from market other than root/download from net?

this "your country cannot install" issue is quite weird i would say as i own a xoom, i don't have this issue!

rooting will void the warranty...thats the main reason im reluctant to root my fren's transformer icon_question.gif

Actually I don't feel any lag in Lowyat forum on my iconia. The issue was more on replying and is true the default keyboard is not very responsive. Using Steve Lin gingerbread keyboard is very much better is worth the 99cent I pay for it
