Guys... deciding between DHD and IS.. I am a person who wants to customise his phone. But before that, is there any benefit to flash custom rom?

Benefit..? You get the chance to test the latest system... Any bug on stock rom will be fix much faster... You can save more internal storage... You can save more battery... DHD bow to you not you bow to DHD...

If you looking for to heavily customize then DHD is the choice... IS can customize but hard since the bootloader and recovery is locked with signed image...

If you mean customizing, the DHD is the only way to go for now, since the IS's bootloader is locked which makes flashing ROMs very difficult, not to mention it not being cracked yet, so no ROMs for IS at the moment.

Benefits.. Why not take a good look at the front page? All the info about custom ROMs and all is there Take a look at those screenshots too, some like syuki's are fine examples of customization

Saw it.. but do you think its worth waiting for a community to be developed or should I just get the DHD?

The DHD and the IS is similar enough, the only significant difference is the screen (4.3 inch on DHD, 4 inch on IS) and build (aluminium unibody on DHD, soft touch plastic on IS). Not to mention the difference in amount of ROMs for now, and the fact that the IS is similarly priced to the DHD.

Simply put, both are essentially the same (processor, RAM and all) except for those things I mentioned. The DHD is slightly more expensive, which, understandably, is cause of the extras I mentioned.

P.S Just a side note, the DHD's ROM has Dolby Mobile and SRS systems for both music and movies, while IS has SRS only.

Oh. ok... will now decide between AP DHD or Ori DHD... hopefully the price will fall in the next few months.. but I'm only gonna be here for only 1 year. Leaving to UK, so 2 years warranty is not really necessary right?

Most probably your build is 1.84 base custom ROM, as I am still on 1.72 LeeDroid v2.2.2 Kernel 2.2.8, I will have to sacrifice the sound boost and quality
if I move to 1.84 base, feel gatal want to try Gingerbread ROM CM7, but feel sayang have to wipe LeeDroid

Will wait for a better Gingerbread ROM with Sense
