Netbooks used to be dull and monotonous, picking a netbook back then is as easy as picking the design of the netbook.... But not anymore, netbooks are becoming more and more fancy lately and that's why I think it'll be good to add in this thread~

Oh just install a new OS yourself. I plan to chuck an SSD into it once I get my hands on one.
*
LOL, I'm very susceptible to poison one lo laugh.gif
How much SSD are you planning to put in? Planning to do it yourself? It'll be blazing fast, worth considering laugh.gif
I don't really mind installing the OS myself, just abit worried about the drivers since I'm not very familiar with Asus, anyway I can always ask you later haha thumbup.gif

Then get the Corsair F60. 60GB of SandForce goodness for <RM500.

I should probably come back here after 10 years laugh.gif
"Good" and "Bad" SSDs usually only refer to their speeds right? iirc, even the "Bad" ones are way faster than 7,200rpm HDD drool.gif

Power consumption, Trim, etc..

Oh I see laugh.gif
"a TRIM command allows an operating system to inform a solid-state drive (SSD) which blocks of data are no longer considered in use and can be wiped internally", what does it mean anyway? Delete? LOL laugh.gif

TRIM:
When you delete a file, windows only deletes the index pointer, not the data itself. This is not a problem with an HDD, which will simply overwrite the data, it doesn't make a difference for it if it's empty or not. To the contrary, an SSD will take up to four times the time it takes to write something on a partially written block, as opposed to a fresh block, would the data be marked as valid or not. TRIM makes sure that when a delete command is sent to the drive, the drive actually indeed eradicates the data so the cells are really empty, so the next write to them will be as fast as possible, keeping then the speed of the drive. TRIM was implemented after ITGC, because of it's inherent limitations.

Wow, that's a very very good article that even noobs like me can understand LOL laugh.gif THanks for sharing! notworthy.gif
So which SSD has TRIM and which one doesnt? The ones above all have 1 right since they're so expensive laugh.gif
