Your budget?

AMD also has their quad core Phenom II X4 Mobile range which is essentially a lower powered desktop quad core Athlon II X4. New generation AMD procs are much cooler than their predecessors.
*
Since i only use for msn and surfing, think budget Rm1.5-1.8k.

If you want AMD:

Asus X42DE, AMD Phenom II N830 + ATI HD5470@RM1599, FreeDOS
Can also consider these for Intel based laptops:

Acer Aspire 4743ZG, P6200 + Nvidia GT520M@RM1749, 3 years local limited warranty
Asus A42E, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1699, FreeDOS
Lenovo G470, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1599, FreeDOS

Can safely say these ones can last you a while with your usage. If you want cheaper can get those using AMD Fusion APU.
*
Yea i know, so far never use Intel processor before, lol. Still got time for me to survey, cause my old lappy haven die yet. biggrin.gif

If not i will go for Asus K43S but seem this model not available in Msia, saw at SG...

Actually, it's known as the A43SV here.
*
I see, just price check at garage sales, found that Msia price is slightly cheaper and also 2gb of gc while SG K43S only come with 1gb...

Another question, u not recommend to get AMD's laptop?

I won't say not recommended, but it's up to your usage and budget. Fusion based laptops is good value for money in the netbook sector while the Phenom II X3 on the X42DE is good for rendering work at a very economical price. But then, the Intel based laptops are generally better value for money.
*
Franky say budget no problem for me, just dont want to spend much on laptop. Last time i still got gaming, but recently very less already, that's why i think of get AMD laptop again. But if Intel processor can last longer, i dont mind spend more to give a try... smile.gif

I see, my 1st laptop also AMD, but is Compaq CQ40. So far i think only my another friend using Acer 4530 with AMD processor, others all use intel. Ur X42DE good? Since u change to Intel, think u will prefer Intel than AMD... hmm.gif

If don't have the E-350 option, I might just settle for a new notebook instead.

Performance-wise: AMD E-350 + AMD HD6310 > C50 + AMD HD6250
But availability of OS and also size of laptop may affect pricings
*
I see, Asus 1215B 12'' come with Win7 starter, Asus K43U-VX006 14'' only dos. I think another reason should be, 1215B come with 6 cell batt, longer battery life compare with K43U-VX006 ... hmm.gif

Very much an Asus fan. biggrin.gif

Currently using an A42JV.
Performance difference. The E-350 is way more powerful compared to the C-50. Heck, I can even run Crysis 2! The 1215B I'm looking at comes with the E-350 and Free DOS at the same price.
*
I see, haha. So far i only heard 1 of my friend who use Asus laptop, then got problem on his laptop. He send to service center then wait for 2 months to fix... sweat.gif

Then is possible 1215B on E-350? I think i prefer 12'' cause lite + longer battery life... icon_rolleyes.gif

Asus seems to be able to get things a little bit budget than Acer and have certain built than no others did it, most notebook expect eeePc range comes with 2 years warranty, how is the after sale? Hmm, tempting indeed
*
Yea, some more in SG, some model come with 3 years international warranty... drool.gif

After sales well, there's nothing to shout about. I sent my current laptop in before for a HDD swap. Quite painless process. Just was left without a lappie for 3 days for testing and replacement. That's just my case. Not sure about everyone else.
*
My friend 1, forgot is lcd or gc problem, sent to service center wait for 2 months... doh.gif

At my hometown, Kuching Sarawak. Got friend work at pc shop, he say they dont sell Asus laptop due to warranty proble, so they only sell acer, dell and toshiba brand...
