As suggested by siksa , notworthy.gif
I'll include all laptop pricelists into this particular one so that it doesn't get too messy...

Credits goes to lee_what2004, astria, marcus20125, MSI-MY, siksa, Borsch Soup, Ricky Ling, Beouwulf, miahahaha, JYong, AlexLai and all the others who helped, much appreciated!

Nice thread. Mod should made this thread sticky replacing the OLD, not updated and outdated sticky price thread.

The old topic only has 803 replies. I don't see any reason for the new one.

We need Mod to remove the old thread from the sticky section and put this one there.

In stock, GT540M should be slightly better than AMD HD6630M...
Need to wait for official benchmarks for the AMD HD6630M to confirm this though laugh.gif

Why Toshiba?
You could probably get an Asus G series or even an Alienware for that price laugh.gif
Anyway, there's a prototype "Qosmio F60" which supports non-glasses 3D technology, perhaps you should wait for that one?

Hello all, I have a question.
Is there any differences between the casing material of the Asus N53SV and N53SN?

I heard one of the seller saying that the case material of Asus N53SV is made of fully plastic, while Asus N53SN is fully aluminium. Is that true?

where has miahahaha go?

ts should just combine all size(<12.5",13",15",16">17") here and change the title and ask for mod confirmation, which i think is not a bad idea. i think one reference is enough rather than multiple.

LOL, I thought you were asking whether there's the AMD GPU option sweat.gif
Anyway, "All mobile processors use Intel's Graphics sub-system HD 3000", quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Bridge
Should be reliable? hmm.gif

since asus n53sn i7 is priced at RM3200, I assume n43sn i7 would be price the same, or lower by RM100, right? biggrin.gif if that's the case then I can upgrade to at least 8gb with my budget biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I think the N43SN (if available) would be priced the same as the N53SN laugh.gif
8GB is abit overkill if you're only using for normal tasks...
Might as well use the money to get better accessories thumbup.gif

same price is it... ooo.. I thought 15" would always be a bit more expensive than 14"

anyway I think doing PHP and Java programming (eclipse), running mysql, apache, tomcat, photoshop, running linux on vmware, and encoding videos and listening to winamp all at the same time warrants enough reason to get 8gb ram, no? biggrin.gif

anyway can anyone recommend me a shop in lowyat who can do the upgrade of asus n43sn's ram? because I read somewhere some shops will only sell the asus laptop as given to them by asus.. means no upgrading thingy.. and any precautions before upgrading the laptop? because read somewhere here too, that some people have problems when they tried to upgrade their rams...

Imho, as long as its a reputable store and is selling cheap, just bring the laptop and let them put in the RAM, it won't go wrong that way laugh.gif

Sandy Bridge processors have a "2" prefix on their codenames i.e. i7-2630QM; old ones are just i7-740QM nod.gif
As for the chipset. All the laptops available now are free of chipset problem, except certain Sony models iirc hmm.gif

well u can use usb odd to play ahem lar

acer 3750g would have been a steal if at least with gt 525m but ppl can get it at 2k so it would be nice but it has the same old boring cheap looking aspire chassis.

about u41sv are u guys sure its coming 2 months later? i found a pic which looks insteresting it compares u series with acer timelinex series in terms of weight and thickness

another question is some sellers selling n53sv here at 2500 or even lower then what will happen to the price of a43sv/a53sv around 2.2k?
gives me hope that n43sl will also come down to 2500 and so does u41sv

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_cUimoxfQ...40/IMG_5079.JPG

Added on April 7, 2011, 1:24 pmalso whats the detailed spec of ge620 does it include blu ray? 750gb 7200 rpm hdd? usb 3? some ppl oready seling n53sn at 3200 so msi have to lower the price as 8 gb is now useless

I'd prefer TimelineX 3830T, specs' nothing much to shout about, but for the looks and price, its worth it wub.gif
That aside, the 3750G would already be a steal since there's not much contenders laugh.gif
I don't think the U41Sv will take so long to reach Malaysian shores.... by the time it arrives a majority of the market share would have been "stolen" by other brands, especially Acer laugh.gif

Yeah, its possible that the N43SL's price would be decreased as well. If not, they probably won't sell well laugh.gif

As for the MSI GE620:

Dear guys,
I'm the Representative here. But if one is asking is MSI a good brand, i'll leave the enthusiasts here to answer that. But anyone can feel free to PM me on anything related to MSI. For your information, i'm directly under MSI Malaysia Representative Office. So i'm not from any disti/dealer/reseller. I usually lurk around in the Notebook Specific Discussion under MSI Gaming Notebook, Sound&Performance, Best of both world thread.

Btw, thanks [PF] T.J. for updating our Pricing here. Appreciate it.

HP netbooks seldom come with FreeDOS...
But usually the price could be bargain to be around RM50+ less? hmm.gif

Err... GMA 3150 are crappy integrated GPU found in Atom netbooks thumbup.gif
All mobile SB processors come with Intel HD3000, which is more or less on par with ATI HD5470 and slightly better than Nvidia G310M
Fujitsu's aren't really good for gaming, should warn you about that haha laugh.gif

Personally I don't like installing everything myself, hence the G475 would be better nod.gif
Both the K43 and Acer 4253 comes with FreeDOS... So it depends on you because iinm, the K43 has 2 years international warranty which may come in handy as well...

Usually it takes some time for new stuff to be updated on the site. I know my laptop took almost 2 months + before it was listed.

If the AMD processor has A, C or E in the name, it's a Fusion APU.

Normally, if a laptop has a discrete GPU, it will have a HDMI port.

Well, we should comprre Asus 1015b with Acer AO522, both AMD C-50...
whereas HP dm1z should be compared to the Asus 1215b, both AMD E-350

1015b will definitely have longer battery life due to the smaller screen size..

As for 1215b and HP Dm1z, the battery life would be around 5-6hours.

Reviews on 1215B:
C-50: http://mobilityupdate.com/netbooks/asus-1215b-review/
E-350:

With that budget, you either get better CPU + worse GPU or normal CPU + better GPU..

The Lenovo G475/Acer 4253/Asus K43U is just on the netbook level sweat.gif
G470 is normal notebook spec,
HD6310 is integrated card, using shared ram.

E350 is more powerful but it will consume more battery. So if long battery life is your priority then get a C50.

G475 doesn't mean its newer/better than G470..
G470 and G475 is the same series, just the G470 is Intel CPU, G475 is AMD CPU..
The same with G450/G455, G460/G465, etc..

Ao522 have lesser battery life compared to 1015B not just because of the higher resolution.. It's because the battery capacity is smaller as well.. That's why Acer ao522 is only around 1.25kg.. Like toshiba nb550d, can last 7-8 hours even with wifi on.. Ao522 can last 4-5hours only..

If you're only interested in the physical appearance of the laptop, you can take a look at the newer Asus A series, they're the same thumbup.gif

High cache? Are you referring to the HDD space or the processor? hmm.gif
For the AMD powered lappies, it all depends on one's own preferences since they offer more or less the same stuffs nod.gif
Personally I like the Sony, Asus and HP. Dell's a bit too glossy for my taste.
For user friendliness and ergonomics, its definitenly the impressive Portege T210 even though it looks hideous:
For reliability and spill-resistant keyboard, Thinkpad Edge 11 thumbup.gif

Update: Oh ya, need to add, the Intel processors, in this case are better than those AMD APUs. But GPU-wise, AMD's better nod.gif

Quite an investment, need to add 450 or something for the SSD right? I do use iPad and iPod touch, still prefers iPad for bedtime computing, haha. Sadly, don't get to use the iPad that much, left it at somewhere else,

Edge is kind of using old generation processor, it is good and better than e350 though,

With the 60GB SSD it will become rather expensive liao at around RM2.5k shocking.gif
It depends on whether you need the extra speed or not?
Personally I don't think its worth it, not at this stage anyway... SSDs are still too expensive...

The SB ULVs were just released lately, expect spec refresh later. When that time comes, the Intel HD3000 will probably be better than the AMD HD6310 liao laugh.gif

Overall performance e-350 would be better.. Edge11 battery life only around 4hours.. Not like its gonna be ur main rig right? The slightly better CPU performance for a weaker GPU n battery life and it's a lot more expensive? For me it's a no no..

Then e-350 is better since u have better battery life.. The 1215B @ rm1299 is definitely a bargain.. Add a 80gb SSD its still cheaper than edge11 lol..

Btw it's true i3 ulv is better than e-350 independently, but they're different class n much more expensive.. But the hd6310 compensates for the weaker CPU n kicks in when doing tasks, that's why we say overall performance e-350 would be better or more or less the same..

An example is the c-50 and hd6250, it's weaker than n550 dual core atom but the user experience is much better.. U can see feedbacks from our forumers using AO522

I think having a balanced GPU/CPU power is better than having a good CPU but bottlenecked by the GPU vice versa  hmm.gif

June..... is still a looooooooooooong way to go bro haha, by that time there will definitely be better ones, wait until then, perhaps even the "1215b" would be powered by the E-450?

Why pay more when I can get an i7 for that price! I don't really care for design or speakers at all, I just want specs and good cooling. Nothing else.

The 15 inchers were released abit earlier, price dropped already nod.gif
And usually smaller sized laptops will cost more as well sad.gif
Anyway, you should pay RM200 more for N53Sv instead of the 2GB A53Sv thumbup.gif

The U41Sv has quite good specs thumbup.gif
But its a bit heavier than the U41Jf, hopefully its due to better built this time smile.gif

No news on N43Sn yet..
Spec-wise: A43Sv (i7)> A43Sv (i5) = N43SL...
A series is budget line, whereas N series is premium line~
It all depends on whether you really need the SB i7 or not, as the SB i5 would be more than sufficient for everyday usage nod.gif

Your budget?

AMD also has their quad core Phenom II X4 Mobile range which is essentially a lower powered desktop quad core Athlon II X4. New generation AMD procs are much cooler than their predecessors.

better get an 14" for study and portable as a first laptop, I suggest Lenovo G470, the i3 something, 1599?

if you mostly use on Old Town, and Starbucks moment, I think Acer AO522 is kind of good, after all it is 1149myr

/offtopic, hmm, Asus 1215B, not all comes with USB 3.0? wonders why E-350 SKU isn't here rclxub.gif

Why dun get full size notebooks then? If this is ur main, you'll suffer the lack of performances when doing heavy work..

AMD also has their quad core Phenom II X4 Mobile range which is essentially a lower powered desktop quad core Athlon II X4. New generation AMD procs are much cooler than their predecessors.

If you want AMD:

Asus X42DE, AMD Phenom II N830 + ATI HD5470@RM1599, FreeDOS

Can also consider these for Intel based laptops:

Acer Aspire 4743ZG, P6200 + Nvidia GT520M@RM1749, 3 years local limited warranty
Asus A42E, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1699, FreeDOS
Lenovo G470, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1599, FreeDOS

Can safely say these ones can last you a while with your usage. If you want cheaper can get those using AMD Fusion APU.

I won't say not recommended, but it's up to your usage and budget. Fusion based laptops is good value for money in the netbook sector while the Phenom II X3 on the X42DE is good for rendering work at a very economical price. But then, the Intel based laptops are generally better value for money.

Yeah, so so only, and it the source is correct, it runs on W7 Professional, wouldn't that be too much on the little netbook? sad.gif
And it doesn't look really good either... Asus 1215b (not sure whether there's still the E350 version) and HP Dm1z are still at the top of the coveted list thumbup.gif

If don't have the E-350 option, I might just settle for a new notebook instead.

Performance-wise: AMD E-350 + AMD HD6310 > C50 + AMD HD6250
But availability of OS and also size of laptop may affect pricings

I see, Asus 1215B 12'' come with Win7 starter, Asus K43U-VX006 14'' only dos. I think another reason should be, 1215B come with 6 cell batt, longer battery life compare with K43U-VX006 ... hmm.gif

Asus K43U should come with 6-cell battery also right? Its because of the larger screen and hence the shorter battery life nod.gif
Usually smaller laptops are more expensive for the same specs because its harder to solder everything together to fit into something so small/slim nod.gif
That's why the Portege R700/R830, MBA 11/13, Samsung 9 series are that expensive; conversely, you'll find the Inspiron 15/MSI CR650 costing only ~RM1299 laugh.gif

Performance difference. The E-350 is way more powerful compared to the C-50. Heck, I can even run Crysis 2! The 1215B I'm looking at comes with the E-350 and Free DOS at the same price.

Very good choice I would say... if the built quality is better than its predecessor, it'll be almost perfect - power + portability in 1 package~
Just need to get an external speakers only  thumbup.gif

Asus seems to be able to get things a little bit budget than Acer and have certain built than no others did it, most notebook expect eeePc range comes with 2 years warranty, how is the after sale? Hmm, tempting indeed

Price is 2.9k. With discounts and stuff, maybe can get it at 2.8k.

After sales well, there's nothing to shout about. I sent my current laptop in before for a HDD swap. Quite painless process. Just was left without a lappie for 3 days for testing and replacement. That's just my case. Not sure about everyone else.

I think buy Asus 1215B with E350 at SG is worth cause S$599 (about Rm1450) come with home premium, but saw few users in SG forum complain about the touch pad not working well, then request 1 for 1 exchanged.... hmm.gif

Get N53Sv cause it come with dedicated graphic card, better than Intel HD on gamings. For play dota, delay issue is due to internet, not laptop or pc itself... smile.gif

Get N53Sv cause it come with dedicated graphic card, better than Intel HD on gamings. For play dota, delay issue is due to internet, not laptop or pc itself... smile.gif

but from previous suggestion som1 juz told me nt to get n53 due the gpu compabilty X.X

any other models around 2.5k?

for size 15.6inch will do juz fine i blive

Even integrated GPUs can handle Dota laugh.gif
As for multilayer sessions, the connection speed will also affect smoothness (duh) laugh.gif
Anyway, the N53Sv will do just fine thumbup.gif

Well, different people have different needs... to be, the most important thing for a netbook is the user-friendliness...
Since you'll probably be bringing your lappy along almost everywhere you go, glossiness would be a problem...
the Toshiba NB520/550D offers rubberized materials which will come in handy imho~
And of course the speakers on the NB550D, tried it, and I'm completely blown away, the speakers on that tiny machine is as good as the ones I have now in the M500 doh.gif
As for the lower resolution, again, I think it doesn't matter since the screen is so small... Higher resolutions on such a tiny monitor will cause eye pain (at least for old me)

For that budget (RM1.8-2k), I think its better to get an AMD E350- powered lappy (many choices at the moment) and put in an SSD instead (as suggested by eugenechiuu) brows.gif

Err..... even a RM1.4k netbook could handle your friend's usage? RM2-2.5k is quite overkill already laugh.gif
THe ThinkPad Edge is still one of the best subnotebooks at this time, but the specs are quite outdated already, perhaps your friend would like to wait for the new SB ULV processors?

Eheh, sorry for my ignorance it's just that I haven't been keeping up with the latest stuff regarding laptops until now (gonna study abroad soon, need to find a decent laptop). Anyway, at the moment, the specs that I have in mind are:

15 inch display (Can't stand gaming on a 14 inch)
i5 (I think i7 is an overkill for my normal usage)
4GB RAM (Any higher will be unnecessary)
GT 540M (Not much difference between that and the 550M I guess?)

and all of those are found in the K/A 53SV

I was interested in the N53SN/SV initially BUT after watching this, I'm starting to have doubts.

Yeah, apparently the keyboard flex is one of the Asus N53's biggest setback.. but other than that, everything's good laugh.gif
Even my old Qosmio F60 has keyboard flex, its hard to avoid it because of the long length of the keyboard when the keypad is included nod.gif
Well Nvidia's GT550M is significantly better than the GT540M... and the N53Sn is the only one having the GT550M at the moment, which makes it the best laptop for this category at the moment...
If you don't game a lot, I guess there's no real need for the GT550M, where you can go for other 15" models like HP Dv6, Acer 5750G, Dell XPS 15, N53Sv, MSI GE620 nod.gif

I work at SG, brows.gif

For K43Sv at SG, come with 3 model, think same to K53Vs ( this i not too sure ). K43Sv got i5 with 1 gb gc @ S$1098, i7 with 1gb gc @1298 and i7 with 2gb gc + blu-ray @ S$1498. No idea for Acer laptop cause i NEVER take a look for on this brand, lol. But saw Acer Timelinex 48xx before la, so far only saw few people selling Acer 4750G i7, 8gb ram, 1gb gc (nvidia optimus) at S$900 cause they re-new internet contract and get this laptop for free. Then they dont want this laptop so sell at low price... whistling.gif
