Vostro 3350 is quite good. Upgrade to the AMD GPU and an 8-cell battery and you're good to go.

Love the ergonomic keyboard, very useful for Uni work which will require alot of typing for assignments... seen the real thing.... it doesn't look cheap at all (unlike most of its rivals at these price range)
Imho, all laptops are good provided you have warranty to cover them~
So its best to extend the warranty, regardless of what laptop you pick (except for Asus or those promotional ones already with 2/3 years warranty)

You know, you could have a section here for those laptops which are 17" and above.
