Lower spec, Aluminium case, better speaker, onsite warranty for XPS 15,
5750G, better go with 5755G, comes with 8GB, 750GB and Bluray for RM3099.. For gaming, try find HP DV6 without Beats headset, should be around RM3199.. |

Usage ?
The 4830TG has better battery life and thinner, and seemingly have throttling problem. The A43Sv don't have switchable GPU system. |

QUOTE(expertester @ Jul 22 2011, 11:16 AM) Second, warranty concern. Only Asus and Dell provide on site pickup. No need to send back to shop. Acer and others (AFAIK), you have to send back to the shop or distributor. Dell is onsite service, not just pickup..Lenovo, HP also got onsite, but that's another warranty upgrade.. QUOTE(expertester @ Jul 22 2011, 11:16 AM) Third, 4830TG has heat issue due to 1 heatsink design. This is really sucks because when you try to play games at extended period, the CPU will throttle down. If not gaming, why bother with GT540 at all. Personally, I do not play game at notebook. Has pc for that purpose. But, if I want to play but being restricted by heat issue, I don't like the idea because I already pay some money for GT540. It is like, you can play current game but....... the 'but' is I hate most. Well, the other notebook in your consideration list also only have 1 heatsink design... |

So far no,
the 4830TG isn't really heat issue, its that Acer somehow put the heat limit too low, like at 85C, it will start throttle. This can be overcome by using ThrottleStop and disable TurboBoost.. But the 4830TG battery wear level does make a concern.. This post has been edited by lee_what2004: Jul 22 2011, 01:20 PM |
