what software? seldom to see any software can't run in 64bit, blame the software developer anyway

basically you need to download the software, vmware/virtualbox etc
to create the virtual machine is self explanatory when u run the program

no la, wont mess up windows, just like running another software only
just make sure got enough ram, since virtualization use lotsa ram, compared to dual booting

can what, your 7 use let say approx 2gb++, then give your virtual xp 1gb ram, should be suffice
