Hi guys, I'm new here. I recently bought an N53SN last week and I'm facing some weird problems. Here are some of the problems:

1) Relatively slow startup time.
2) Takes a very long time to hibernate.(around 1minute)
3) After waking up from hibernation, it becomes really slow and after using it for a while the whole windows explorer hangs.. (This has been happening almost every single time)
4)  Laptop freezes when I open the task manager and "NOT RESPONDING" appears..
5) Windows explorer hangs even when just surfing the net. (Had to force shut down many times).

I'm sorry if some of the solutions to the problems above may have been mentioned before in this thread as I didn't go through the 99 pages of thread. I hope some of the experienced users out there can help to give me some advice on this matter.=) Thank you in advance.

Well, I'm not exactly sure whats the brand of my hdd..Don't mean to sound stupid but how do I check the brand of my hdd? I looked up my device manager and under disk drives its stated ST96404023AS. Does that mean anything?

Aiks.. Does this mean we have to live with this problem?? Is there anything asus can do to help rectify our problem like replace our hdd for us or smtg? Oh no, I hope I don't regret buying this laptop. Lol.

hmm so does it mean most of the N53 out there are Seagate HDD? What about N53SV? There's are suppose to be higher quality laptops than the A series so "live with it" is not a good solution.

Hibernation is always good to save time for starting up & resuming what you left.

Also doesn't make sense why Seagate would have problem hibernating, unless it's slow.

Dang. I happen to use the "hibernate" function a lot as like advocado said, I do leave my assignments open and resume where i left off. I guess I'll give asus a call soon.. Anyway, thank you for your help.=)

Can you say more about keyboard flex, 1st time i hear about this, what happens, i see people complaining?

And for the N53, is there possible any cables running past the heat vent? I saw someone posted A series AC plug is just next to the vent so need to becareful how to run the cable or else risk heating the cables.

Really need to think twice now seems they look good but heat issue is there.

Anyway hope you guys don't mind, how does the Dell 15R compare to A53 & N53? Spec is similiar with lesser graphic cards, not sure how the heat/keyboard design for dell though.

mines with WD and it has all those problems except startup time. oh this happens after sleep as well. i dont think its a hardware problem though but a certain program running somewhere. no ones found a solution to this chaos yet. its the biggest problem to me compared to heat, startups or keyboard flexes cause it basically affects whatever ur running and u have to forcefully restart it. gives i7 a bad impression.

its very unusual that most of us here have this problem due to the hard disk? is there a common program that n53sn users are using?

ok i found out its one of the service problems. after disabling all non microsoft services and restarted and put it to sleep and hibernate the problem dosent appear anymore. it may be the intel or atk problem...

yea cause if my wd is the problem and others are having the same hdd problem then thats a wow factor . let the other users try that solution and see how it goes. i suspect it being one of the drivers that could differ from n53sv

1. I am not after fast boot up as that is not my top priority as i like to press the power button only go turn on my lights / fan / aircond / go toilet / pour water & etc etc. So, when im back it sure load up already.
2. I never use hibernate. Its either turn off completely or leave it on the whole night
3. I tried juz now. Yes, it does go hengki pengki after a while including task bar and every window i opened.
4. yes...because the system seems really super bz for don't know what reason.
5. i don't use internet explorer, coz i find it slow and not reliable...
since you didnt read the previous post. FYI only, most of the N53 owner here will spend sometimes removing the bloatware installed by asus.

No, only the left pam rest get warm during gaming, but the temperature in idle mode is around 50 Celsius while in gaming is around 70 Celcius, example like Crisis 2.
