Haven reformat leh.. reformat also will have bloatwares? Like that i rather del bloatwares?
*
1st time when i start my laptop....theres a lot of bloatwares. After reformat, still got la but not as many as the 1st time...weird shakehead.gif . Some stuff was missing and I take it as a good sign thumbup.gif
Reformat better cause it cleans up everything specially your registry and your HDD is not fragmented. If you delete there always still a residue....which can be remove by some 3rd party software. For me i prefer reformat cause it will make your laptop "fresh" and "new". I manage to get 45 sec the last time i reformat and Kyozen managed to get 23 sec....which i dunno how he got it.

i got 23sec is using manual handphone timer, but when i use boot time software they stated 29sec haha...

@empire177
seriously,
1) go do backup dvd

2) reformat (can refer how to do backup and factory reset in asus manual book)

3) delete useless bloatwares http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/38068...ware-guide.html

optional ( do backup registry file and clean error registry entry by using CCleaner)

4) uninstall ATK and reinstall back (dunno why some fn key will nt work after uninstall some bloatwares, after reinstall working fine again)

5) use msconfig to unable some useless startup

6) install 'Windows Performance Tool
Download WPT: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/performance/cc752957
Instructions from sarf2k4 (at the bottom): http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1606856/+1940#entry40319554

then you could enjoy around 2X ~ 4X sec boot up time

ps. thx to all sifus in this forum who share and guide to achieve fast boot up time  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
*
Lol yea kinda true...the boot timer not that accurate, but nearly. Cause when the message pops up after you log in windows, you have to click Run fast cause the time is still running. Only when you click it then it will stop. I tried paying with it and i got 200sec boot up time just for not clicking Run fast enough biggrin.gif

oh yea you forgot one more thing
7) Use Asus Fast boot to delay some program startup....although msconfig can also do this but I prefer Asus fast boot somehow laugh.gif

" add in different kind of brand name such as kingston DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM price to my asus n53sn" shakehead.gif what do you mean by price???
Anyway by default the RAM is by Elpida. Adding a diff brand is ok as long its DDR3 and same MHz for better performance

This review is for the desktop le doh.gif
Anyway, i tried AC Brotherhood with the new driver....and i can't really max out everything or else there will be a bit lag. I have to scale down a little to get it real smooth. Still i can enjoy AC Brotherhood with great graphics....wonder how would the old driver performed.

Hey guys im just wondering if any of you experience this problem i had
Sometimes, after "waking up" from hibernation, my whole system started lagging tremendously. Although nothing much/heavy apps was running, even the background slide show is stop, Its dam laggy doh.gif 1 core(change randomly) is maximize to the fullest. The only program running using lots of resources is svchost.exe (around 100k mem) but under normal circumstances its also running around that amount of mem. Then when i restart....IT TAKES 5 MIN shakehead.gif doh.gif . Sometimes i had to hold the off button to off it manually. After doing so everything is back to normal. The problem occurred again it "wakes up" from hibernation.
Dam this is soooo frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! vmad.gif doh.gif Before and after i reformat, the problem still occurred. I really hate Asus software laugh.gif

Now, when you say you reformatted, do you mean with the restore CD that includes all the bloatware? Or like a proper stock restore CD?

The best thing is to do a complete wipe, get a copy of Windows 7 of the same version you have now, then use the CD-key you have from ASUS that way it's legal and install a complete fresh wipe. That usually fixes everything.

Note: Don't have this N53SN laptop... too poor sad.gif
*
When you reformat using the hidden partition or CD there will still be bloatwares

Why must I get a copy of Windows 7, its a bloody waste of money. I already have this and I just need to delete some stuff after reformat.

yeah with all the scary reviews, i really dunno shud i get 1.. juz 2 more week be4 i ship it over here... shud i really buy and spent fun time fixing bugs/probs with u guys or spend more quality time with my assignments..
maybe i shud jump back to bad hp with heat probs n not so stable hardwares.. after all my dv6000 lasted me 7 years with stupid probs of keyboards n heat but no glitchy software installments and random boot time.. itz all constant 10-20 min toilet breaks for me.
@trance4eva is it really bad or juz ur are soo unlucky, did u ask the shopkeaper/S.centre for a swap? the probs are overwhelming from games to boot to drivers.. i also scared...
*
I can't swap cause the problem is the software and not the laptops hardware.

Anyways, you can't really find the "perfect" laptop. Every laptop sure got some problems. Lets says, HP~Heat Problems laugh.gif , Lenovo~Design problems(internal) or they just like to lie to customer, Asus~ Driver problems maybe?. Honestly the N53SN is great cause of the specs and the design. Combining both makes this laptop worth to get but like I said everthing has a flaw. For this model is the driver problems but nothing too serious. Nv drivers so far working perfectly btw, nothing wrong with Optimus even though accused by many ppl of having problems. And if your afraid that something might happen during your usage, you always remember that you still have 2 years global warranty.

I would not call my self unluncky, maybe lucky??? lol. Im still quite satisfied la cause it did not cause much prob as my previous laptop. During gaming everything works out fine. I even got the boot up time to be normal.
So why worry, nothing is perfect in this world nod.gif

but mainly i switch to asus for their rep in cooling their comps.. i hate when my hp burns out during heated games and dell's probs with heat is no prob solver, both hav 2 lugg a mini suitcase and cooler when u join others on games at other houses.. i chose dell over asus cuz the price ber quality per performance and not choosing acer cuz built not sastify my needs for usage(hardwarefailrate)... levono leh... they charge okkaaayy... heat not significant speaker not all great, hardware okkkk... but service.. dun come in terms for asus international warrenty.. which i really nid.. c'ing u guys having fun, but overall i know itz a great choise and kudos to those who hav it, cuz after reading the spec n hardware installed i know itz good and went looking for it since dec juz hope im not unlucky (i will surely help those issues that i know how to fix dun worry)

Lenovo service?? pfttt, their service are bull crap. I emailed the them bout my GPU problem and asking where to get refund. They reply me 1 day later that my refund is in process and it will take them 2 business to reply me as they said....but the bloody bollocks did not reply me for weeks. I got fed up and just go shop ask for refund and change with N53SN. Few days later a lady called me asking "Hi Mr.... we receive your email asking bout refund." I answered "I got refund d, btw did you guys know bout the prob". She said "yea we know, we already got new batch. Yours is the 1st batch with motherboard problem so now we offering service to replace mobo FOC".........in my head I was saying this " LADY DID YOU READ MY EMAIL!!!!???? My prob was bout switching GPU and now your telling me bout this ****ing Bull****" vmad.gif
Lenovo US I think knows bout this problem but Malaysia does not........
Anyway, my point is dun rely on Lenovo service they suck biggrin.gif

Well since you have doubts with other brand, I think Asus is the best choice for you then. Hurry. Get it and join the club laugh.gif

PS: Sorry if I complain bout Lenovo too much in this post sweat.gif . Im really bloody pissed off with their bull crap service.

LOL you misunderstand me. Don't reformat using the hidden partition or CD. And you don't need to BUY a copy of windows 7. Just can use pirate version, and then when you use the CD-Key on the bottom of your ASUS it will be legal version  brows.gif .

When you do a clean format with an original(pirated) OEM Windows 7 CD, there is NO bloatware, i.e. it never get's installed, never hit's the registry and never causes bit-rot. It seriously is the best thing to do. It is a completely different thing from the "restore cd", which IMHO, is total and utter crap. Hunting for driver may be a pain, but trust me it's worth it!

Also, if you feel icky about getting a pirated version (even though it's ok as long as you use the ASUS cd-key). You can ask ASUS to send you a copy of Windows 7. Since when you buy your laptop it comes with it anyway. I'm not sure about Malaysia but I know in the US the company doesn't mind sending it over.

Give that a shot. Install all your driver's, firefox/chrome, and nothing else. Check your boot time then, it will be super fast!

doh.gif
The Serial number can only be used for your windows in your partition. Thats why when the partition is accidently deleted, have to contact microsoft to make the Serial valid for another windows.

I don't think that's true. At least from the days of Vista/XP I remember as long as you got a newer OEM than your laptop it'd be fine and would work. Either way, you can call ASUS and get a clean (bloatware free) CD if windows 7 and it will work.

But my point remains the same. Do a CLEAN install from a CLEAN windows CD and it will make a world of difference.
*
shocking.gif they provide a free CD or have to pay for it.......

Btw do you know even if you did a clean install, you still have to install the same driver which in the 1st place cause the same problems. My prob is not really bout the boot up time or lagging during normal use. My prob is when after waking up from hibernation, everything starts to lag and im suspecting it might be due to one of windows new update...

They should provide it free.

About the lagging, that will be taken care of too, could be a combination of apps, antivirus, registry issues, improper un-installation, anything could cause the hibernate issues.

If it's really bothering you what you can do is, Clean Format, Install Firefox or Chrome, Install JUST your drivers (don't do windows update), and then create a restore point or an image. Then hibernate, shutdown whatever and do your tests. Then install updates. If the same issue happens, you know it's the updates. If the updates are okay, then create restore point and create a backup image again.
Then start installing your games and msn and whatever else crap you want. This way you know EXACTLY what has been installed/uninstalled.
Side note: Just use Microsoft Security Essentials as your A/V it's more than good enough, don't get any other one.
*
They should or they will???
Your solution might seriously work...but it all comes down to this....where are you gonna get a Windows 7 that will be unlock with a diff serial number. I don't want my HDD to be lock cause of this like Springfall
Unless i could get a Windows 7 CD from ASUS FOC then I will definitely follow your solution when I have time

Btw i have doubts with Microsoft's AV after they bought MacAfee aka Garbage

Can try to call them and see what they say, I'm not entirely sure, never try in Malaysia. My school provides me with free Windows 7 pro so I use that for the clean format. Get a pirated one maybe? This is Msia after all *shrugs*. Either way can't beat a clean install, which is the point I was trying to make !!

It's what I've been doing for years. First thing I do when I get a laptop, backup the drivers and then CLEAN format.
I remember when Microsoft's AV came out they were number 3 over all for that year. The other top two were paid solutions. They ranked number 1 with the least false positives. So yea, they are pretty good. I dunno how they rank now, should check av-comparatives (I think thats the site).
*
shocking.gif your school provide you a free 7 pro...wow
Anyway, did you tried using the Serial Number, which is for you laptop Windows, and tried it on the Windows 7 pro?????
