The VC Market in Malaysia is not very big due to political/economy reason.
There are quite a number of Private Investment Group around the country. If you can prove yourself and have some network into it, you will be fund for the start up ranging from 1-3 years operating expenses with Target ROI between 30-80% depend on industries and target market.
Depend on your background, you may want to go into VC field using different route if you are not from big name company or school.
Hope this help.....

Here is my generic reply to your question. Since you are fresh grad, just get a job in any of those vc, pe or ib company. Learn about the ropes and get the connection first. Wait for opportunities and work you way towards your goal. Being choosy with jobs will not lead you anywhere.

Hi there, I am business consultant looking for a 4-5week experience in malaysia with a VC firm. Any tips? Personal situation. I am employed in London as an internal consultant and I wouldn't mind a non-remunerated job. I am seeking out for experience and exposure in the industry. Any help would be much appreciated! Regards, Joan

thanks for this, I was intending to get in touch with some local VC firms and see if they would accept having an "intern" for 4 weeks. who doesn't try, doesn't get they say. Would you have any tips on firms / websites that could help me get further knowledge of the local market / contact people? Thanks once again, your help is much appreciated. Joan

Do you think easy to work in pe and vc? I don't think it's needed to hv intern here.
Your challenging job is to find the companies to be invested.

QUOTE(chgchksg128 @ Mar 26 2011, 05:40 PM) Venture capital is still an emerging industry in Malaysia. We rarely heard people and friends around us in venture capital. Venture capital in Malaysia are mostly funded by government to nurture SME so that we are too dependent to FDI. Venture capital is a big industry in US. Surprisingly India and China has quite a lot of venture capital firms as the innovation and entrepreneurship in these countries are good. Any one here is working for Cradle fund, MTDC or MAVCAP. Share your opinion of these industry and insights here. I believe many fresh grads will want to know more. I think Private fund is the next step for those in the venture capital as the salary is really low compare to Private fund. Talk to http://massivewisdom.com/venture-capital-p...-opportunities/
