1. Brand - SE Arc or Samsung Galaxy S II
2. Budget - 2k
3. Specs - Proc as fast as possible, dual-core
4. What you need in the phone - Music, internet browsing, camera.

Although Arc doesn't have dual-core, it still included in my wishlist. Both of them using Gingerbread so nothing to be compared except some minor UIs differences. Listening to music most of the time and radio as well taking snapshots for randomness and frequent web browsing. Currently using Satio with SPB Mobile Shell mode.

How's the speaker sound, is it good enough?
My main concern is the listening to music on the go.
I knew beforehand that SGS2 wouldn't price-tagged for 2k.
It's for specific brand model 

Engadget review pointed out that the BRAVIA display or the EXEMOR camera isn't really as good as it was advertised.

actually my budget is 1k below was suppose to buy SGAce but promotion of sgsl then hear from xDarkKnightx about acer. then reconsidering. haha x10 good cam + i love timescape ALOT! . but its 1399.. i just asked ytd. its 400 more than my budget
anyway. can replace it's lens? XP. haha somehow?

the thing im worried when buying acer phone is the community support. i dont see many users and developers around. should it be an issue when it comes to choosing a phone??
another thing is the resale value of acer phones. will it be significantly lower than se phones??

I don't recommend SEX10 as anyone's first Android.  The stock UI is laggy, you need to spend some time and effort to tweak it (root, flash, etc).  For 1st Android phone, I recommend something popular, easily found, has smooth UI, easy to use, good out-of-the-box experience, etc.  HTC phones are the best, but with premium pricing.  The next best is probably Ace.  Acer and Huawei actually provide best bang for the buck, but they're not so popular, so if you have problems, the community might not be able to help.

You're using stock ROM for X10 without tweaks and there is no issue and lag?  You must be the lucky one (or have low expectations).  My factory-resetted stock UI was laggy as hell compared to lower-end models like Legend and Ace.  Even the app drawer scrolling lags.  Rooted, JIT-ed, removed crap like Timescape, Mediascape, etc, and it's all good now
