Hi! i ploughed through the whole thread but am still unsure of which phone to buy.
pls give your opinions

1. Any brand will do
2. Below 1.5k
3. Specs - if possible a not so bulky phone
4. What you need in the phone

reasonably good camera
good battery life
good for web browsing
customization
light gaming
also, probably something to track the phone if it's lost

Thank you smile.gif

SE xperia x10. Good xenon flash + 8mp camera, web browsing can be improved by using Dolphin Browser HD, battery life is above average, 1ghz proc with Adreno 200, but to track your phone, i think you have to download an app to it. You can seach for security apps and if you download Lookout defender, you can make your phone release a shrieking noise at the maximum volume if you lose it in the house.

Thanks for your reply! May i know any other features which x10 lacks?

honestly, for what your wife need, i recommend you leave the android land & go to the blackberry land

blackberry bold is better for what she use & need
email, sms[typical spammerheavy messaging]
long battery life[blackberry]

yup it's led flash. whats the downside of having the bootloader locked?
i read the x10 thread. it says something about ROM, rooting, flashing, etc. do they mean the same thing? rclxub.gif
also, people talk about the gingerbread update. does it come with the phone if i buy later this year?
i'm quite a noobie. sorry if my question sounds stupid. blink.gif

x10 is better
better camera,better processor,larger screen
furthermore can upgrade to android 2.3 soon ~

if i buy the phone now, i will have to upgrade it to 2.3 myself later on?
if i buy the phone later, will the phone come with 2.3 ??

QUOTE(xDarkKnightx @ May 2 2011, 06:10 PM)
x10= Larger screen, better camera, higher clocked processor but weaker GPU.
ALM= Cheaper with 3 years warranty, better build quality, lower clocked processor but with better GPU, pixel density is higher.

thanks icon_rolleyes.gif
the thing im worried when buying acer phone is the community support. i dont see many users and developers around. should it be an issue when it comes to choosing a phone??
another thing is the resale value of acer phones. will it be significantly lower than se phones??

The 2.3 update from SE is very simple. Just plug in the cable and install the software then follow the instruction and your done.
No need to worry.

Community support is also significantly lesser but there are still ROMS circling around. Resale value is still okay.
