I'm completely new to android phone, have not even tried it out at all.  I was thinking of getting HTC IS (Digi package) or wait for Digi packages for new phones (hopefully SGS2).  But.... who knows when that will be out right?

Is it hard to learn to use android phones?  I mean in terms of tinkering with it's setting, using push mails & browsing.  It's when i see those post on flashing, rom & bricked....that's when i get really confused.

My main concern is push mail & messenger, surf moderately & games/music from time to time.  Basically just to say in touch when I'm not in the office.

Since the 'older' phones (SG S & SL - still not too sure what is the difference between these 2 models) does fulfil my basic requirements.  I could pay less & tried them out first.  I found SGS for RM1.4K at Subang.

But I need experience users input on whether it would be better to just get IS now OR buy older model & upgrade way in the future.

Samsung Galaxy SL = My friend said this phone not bad, in term of my usage is good enough. But don't know why, I still haven't decide yet
Google Nexus S = Upgradable firm ware for future once Android unit releast
Samsung Galasy S2 = New model, dual core performance, but expensive
HTC Flyer/ Samsung Galaxy Tab = Too big for me.. I got Ipad , I need phone
Motorola Charm = Seem too suit for me but software limited
HTC wildfire S = RM 1099, better i go for Galasy SL
SE arc = Slim & nice design but over abit my budget

* MUST HAVE: Good & fast camera and video to capture the moments -- especially kids (the run around and hard to get them to stay still).
* 1080p video recording would be nice.
* nice to have flash on the phone (unless it can also take good low light photos without flash)
* gorilla glass would be nice
* play some games like angry birds
* twitter (i know its more an apps, but just stating what i wanna have)
* read news and surf web (smartphones can do all these, i know)
* wifi hotspot (pair with tablets -- so need it to me infrastructure mode, not ad-hoc)

currently using SE k618i. it's a dumbphone (as opposed to smartphone). can't do surfing, etc... but it fulfils my MUST HAVEs.

Currently i am torn between Motorola Defy and Xperia X10. The things i need from a phone is in both but then: -

X10 does have Android 2.3 update, better camera and bigger screen. But then it doesn't have multitouch, and the display is inferior compared to defy. Sound quality for both is unknown.

Defy supports multitouch, good display, durable. But the camera is inferior compared to X10, there's no and i don't know if there will be a 2.3 Android update and the screen is smaller.

I don't know which one lags more.

Ive taken note of galaxy sl, desire and huawei x5. although they seem to be alot bigger than the ip4. wfs dosent get good reviews too
