The existing Ipad 1 is more than decent enough, especially since you won't be doing anything too heavy duty on it. I currently use mine for work emails, the 'net, reading, watching stuff while mobile, and of course various apps. I'm getting an Ipad 2 because I love my Ipad, and any improvement will only be a bonus (though I know I dont actually HAVE to).
If you're conscious of the budget, I'd say the Ipad 1 will be good for at least another 1 year, when perhaps the next model will introduce some major improvement, if not, maybe even 2 years, no problem. Don't waste cash if it's an issue for you.

Actually, to be more precise, since you're a student, don't waste your parents' cash, be like me later on and waste your own

Haha well I am going to buy this using my birthday present fund. Still haven't touched the money yet. @@ just need parent's permission and good justification.

But my concern would be the resale value looking at iPod touch 1 & iPod touch 2. Itouch 1 has seemingly become obsolete as it cannot be updated whereas itouch 2 still can be updated with the latest iOS n still have 2nd hand value(although not a lot but there are still buyers).
Or am I being too paranoid?
Okla if I decided to get iPad 1, is it advisable to get 2nd hand. Yes I an very kiamsiap with my money although I know I can afford a brand new one. ><

Its better to buy ipad 2 since its already coming out...unless you have an iphone4 then ipad 1st gen would be sufficient for studies...
erm I have an itouch4, so what does make me?

IPad 2 no exact release date.. Maybe April or maybe May.. And it's gonna be rm1549.. Rm350 more expensive, u think urself whether u need to extra functions in the new one? Buy old one can get it now.. The extra money can fund for ur next lens betterzz
Rm350 extra seems quite reasonable to me. Argh.

Lens got another budget.
