I am just interested to know how long does these TVs last. Anyone out there willing to share, please do especially those that have had experience in their TV dying on them.

Manufacturer claims 100,000 hours. If used 4 hrs a day then in theory it will last 68 years.

If the panels themselves are supposed to have a lifespan of 60,000 hrs - how do manufacturers get 100,000 hrs?

On paper, TV manufacturers may claim the lifespan of 60K or 100K hours. I am sure the big boys would want the consumers to change their TV after 4 or 5 years. Otherwise, the replacement market will be dead.

do you think which will die first, the lcd itself.. or the button on the lcd?
It will cost a lot, just to fix the button..

What I know, usually your panel will last longer than the electronic components inside your tv. tongue.gif

So, how do you define "last"? Mean your tv can't function as normal? or TV's panel can last how long without considered the electronic components inside?

Quite right about it. The panel might last long as claimed but the electronic components in it might not.

With our fluctuating electricity and spikes, these components will last shorter. For my a/v equipments, I have power regulators for it.

My CRT is so durable that I have no excuse to buy a bigger sized panel TV. So the question is, do I want big sized panel TV to last as long as the CRT? Food for thought blink.gif
