you can't. have to flash to stock rom first to be able to use kies for getting firmware updates.
maybe this is for those who have external microsd card. I'm on zsjpj but I do not have the option of exporting to sdcard.
let me clear some misconception. android has built in mechanism in dealing with ram. functionality has always been a higher priority as opposed to apple where battery life is more important. It is a trade off, functionality over battery life.
When you use a lot of apps, the available ram will decrease. When more ram is needed to open up more apps, background apps is cleared off to make way for the newly launched app. Google put the minimum available ram set too low though. This is the cause of lagginess when ram is low because work is done to close existing apps to make way for new app to open
In custom kernels, the minimum available ram is set a higher value, for example, a minimum of 50mb is always maintained. Any app that uses below 50mb will not have any problem opening up and you'll not experience any lagginess.
Using task killers is really bad. It improperly shuts down apps in which later the app will simply re-open later - this will suck battery life. You will see huge ram available (like 100mb) but in reality it is doing more harm than good. killing apps = bad. Properly closing apps = good
So what's the deal with functionality? Keeping free ram as low as possible will help in multitasking because background apps will still be running - switching apps will be smooth and background apps will still be running, but at the cost of lagginess when opening new apps.
The best way to tackle this ram issue is to find the sweet spot for minimum available ram. You can use app like minfreemanager. Many custom kernel has this setup.
another concern is the speedmod kernel. it is time-tested and reliable kernel (made in Malaysia

). I highly recommend this kernel over other kernel simply because of its reliability. you can of course use other kernel such as damiangto but I'm afraid you guys will mess up with oc/uv feature and fry your battery before educating yourselves.
cheers
