Good to hear that!

Err, wait for TS to add this to the first page? biggrin.gif

Yea. Agree. But then I found that the voice kinda funny when I search for destination from Google navigation. If I set destination from Google map, then it is ok. Anyway, happy that now Google Navigation works!....

Hmm, I wonder when will we get the gingerbread officially released by samsung?
And is it safe to update to the leaked gingerbread? Well I be able to update the phone using kies in the future?
*
It is safe and stable. Future updates can still use Kies if you want but you probably won't after you learn to use ODIN.

Using your PC, try to set DNS server address manually to Google DNS. See if it works.

Titanium Backup or any other backup apps can do the job. Or you can export to VCF file format, save it in your computer and import it back later.

No worry. Use Google DNS. It unblocks everything... Or Open DNS also can.

XXJVK aka Gingerbread is probably a modified copy from Nexus S Gingerbread version. Facebook app actually detected my device as Nexus S instead of Galaxy S. laugh.gif

And we're the last Samsung flagship phone that using RFS. Heard that the new SGS2 will be using EXT4. They learn their mistake.

The Sos Kicap is in the SGS2 thread.  smile.gif

It's a good news if Sammy really change to ext4. Sgs will get the codes for dev to modify.

But I'm not too sure they'll drop RFS so soon now that they solve the problem of lag with Gingerbread on Sgs.

Who knows what FS for other Galaxy series?

Currently I'm using Galaxy Ace..but I'm planning to buy this Galaxy S infuture since the price starting to falls.
I'm kind of relieved Gingerbread update will be coming for this phone.

But how about Samsung TouchWiz? Is it updateable too?

Sorry for a silly question. I'm newbie.
*
I'm afraid you might need to wait a long time. Apparently sales demand still going strong worldwide. M'sia stocks dry up and has to be compensated with SL.

just called from samsung,
they said my motherboard got little problem too...
so if changed motherboard too is RM1200++, motherboard itself is RM 600++
so what you recommend? repair it or buy new 1?
*
If I were you, I'll buy new one. Not worth to fix at that price. Or you can try other places for repair. I knew low yat there got such service. Maybe you can get cheaper price.

Can't remember. Not the top floor and not the ground floor. It s somewhere near the escalator, right after you come up from floor below. The signboard is black colour I think. Maybe you can ask around.

IMHO..jvk modem is the best modem for gps locking....previously i tested on JVE...can only view sats..but took ages to look...

change to JVK this morning..testing under cloudy sky....got 4 sats...in seconds locked...

test using gps test apps..

but the only drawback for jvk is battery comsumption rate and signal strength...so please choose wisely...cheers
*
Agree on the fast GPS lock. Signal strength is ok for me.

I did experience the battery drain due to Android OS a few days back. Dunno why it happens, or know how it happens as I never click the software update. So had to clear data using the methods given earlier by mengsuan.

yeah..i'm using simply rom 3.0 rc2...according tu simone...he changed the modem to jve in rc2 because of battery consumption and signal strength..i forgot to test the the signal previously on JVK...

on JVK...signal strength is -75 to -87dBM 16asu...on 2G connection..
*
I think the mobile signal is fine. But wifi signal is a bit lower compare to last time on 2.2.1. Still it doesn't affect much on the download/upload speed..

Signal strength at -75 to -85dBM is considered good. We will get drop calls when signal strength falls to -112 dBM.

Go for it. XXJVK is stable. Gingerbread ROMs will slowly take over from 2.2.1 in the next 2 weeks....

I'm using XXJVK for 3 days, so far so good. rclxms.gif  battery can last for > 8 hours with data, with push mail & twitter and Fb apps on.

Anyone can teach me how to improve battery to > 12 hours... biggrin.gif
*
Your push email no force close issue?

Mine can last more than 20++ hours with 70% wifi on and 20% data (3G) on. Twitter and Fb I set to manual update. I think if you set to 2G only, you'll tend to save more juice from your batt.
