harddisk, ich78, and jujx...thanks guys
also thought the same thing but need clarification from other galaxians
...will try lookout mobile as suggested
*
Lookout Free Acct - Locate and Scream only. Need premium to have the Lock and Wipe. smile.gif

And if using any battery saving app, need to exclude Lookout coz it need an active 3G / network connection. Else it won't send any trigger reply unless the phone is active.

cacat front camera = cant use for 3g video call

sense UI = bloat like touchwiz only la XD

Is it true that it can't do 3G video call? What a waste.

It comes with FroYo first, meaning it can't do 3G video call by its nature.

If upgraded to Gingerbread, the kernel has support for video call. So I think natively (AOSP), the phone can make video call utilizing the front camera, by right. (by right la)
*
SGS can do 3G viceo call even on eclair. smile.gif

I tried Lookout MObile before last time....actually I'm a bit sceptical whether it is really useful. I have stopped using it already coz it slow down the phone a bit....always scanning...

If the person who stole my phone switch off the phone and take out the sim card, the app will not be able to locate, wipe or scream, right?

No GPS, no data, no GSM connection....Lookout Mobile also no use.

The person can easily go download mode and wipe phone with a new ROM.......all traces hilang, right?
*
Actually we cannot rely on Lookout Mobile but we can plan preventive. Lock phone using password, pin or pattern is the first line of defence. It the phone lost, the data is more important than the phone right. We did not want our contacts, pictures or video expose.

For me locate and scream is useful to find your phone when you misplace it like the HTC ads. hahahah (useful if you want to track your spouse much better than Friend Finder, or to "buzz" like Yahoo Messenger).

Lock and wipe is to secure your privacy. If the thief flash the ROM and using download mode, then our info is lost also except in SD.

Another note, make sure our CSC is correct coz even the thief change the SIM card, the phone still able to auto configure the APN and initiate the 3g network.

but previously nexus one, galaxy tab, dell streak. the heat didn't go up so much like sgs. 3 of them hardly exceeded 40 degree. but sgs easily heat up above 40 degree. wonder if the stock rom is the main reason.  hmm.gif
*
SGS can reached 52 degree, that is my record. As long it is not shutting down then it is not an issue. The phone will auto shutdown if it reached certain temperature which is believe is more than 52.

Isn't Nexus S' spec similar to SGS?

How is it comparing Ferrari engine with Persona engine?

Is that the battery temperature or another temperature measurement?

I've went up to 60 deg C before. Still not shutting down. lol

Hi guys,
today i did a camera in low light test between SE XPERIA arc (with Exmor R technology) with our Samsung Galaxy S...
to capture what inside the dark box, i need to point the lens at the tiny hole without using flash.. and im amazed with Samsung Galaxy S low light camera capabilities... i know the quality is not that good because i forgot to use touch focus but at least we still can see what's inside the box... got some guys with Blackberry, nokia and iPhone 4 try to capture, but failed.. they just got completely black photos...

Where did you run the test? Sony roadshow or centre?

actually i attend SE XPERIA arc launch at mid valley just now..
*
OIC. I may not able to attend the roadshow so Sony Centre is the best place for me to test out this phone. Maybe have to wait a lil bit longer if Maxis has the exclusive right on the phone. Need to see it real performance, Maxis always display dummy sets doh.gif

i think there's something with my accelerometer!
i was playing abduction(u know, the jumping cow game), and i tried tilting in every way possible, but it still wont move!
then i thought maybe it was just that game, so i opened doodle jump and same thing! it still wont register everytime i tilt the phone!

do u guys think its a hardware problem?
is there any way to check if the accelerometer's working properly or not?

thanks in advance.

doesnt work...still failed the sensor test and abduction
do u think this is a hardware failure?

Do you rooted your phone? We can try another method before sending to service centre.

Edit:

When you run the diagnostic test. There is some sort of graphic which looks like a compass. There is a sentence "Need for calibration" inside the circle rite? To calibrate that, just move ur phone in "8" figure movement and a complete horizontal roll. It will take about 2 or 3 complete roll and "8" to calibrate that.

tried the 8 movement..didnt work..but not sure if i did it right anyway..

do i do this:
and yeap, my phone's rooted
write this in terminal
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha

as seen from this link http://smartanuj.com/samsung-galaxy-s-trou...ptimizing-guide
*
I have another method and much more simpler (improvise from that method; can be found on XDA). To sum up...

1. Navigate to /data/system folder
2. Rename or delete ms3c_yamaha.cfg
3. Run the Horizontal Calibration from the Display settings
4. Reboot

Try it out see if it can reset your sensor again.

so i downloaded a terminal emulator,
then wrote
"su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha "

end then it says :
fgets: unknown error: 0
msmachdep_SaveGsOffset failed
calibration utilities failed

what do u guys think?
hardware problem or what? zzzz

Added on April 6, 2011, 8:52 pmread in XDA, sumone said that he encountered the same problem as mine
tried to fix it by using the emulator
failed, and then reflashed his rom
suddenly his accelerometer worked again
maybe i should reflash my Simply Rom?
*
Some of 'em managed to settle it by deleting the file mentioned earlier.

If you do not have Root Explorer, you can use terminal to access the directory

CODE
su
cd /data/system
mv ms3c_yamaha.cfg ms3c_yamaha.cfg.bak -or- rm ms3c_yamaha.cfg
exit

thank god! the accelerometer's working now!
and i've run the sensor check, it still says "need calibration" in the round thing..but this time, its rotating..and there are readings in the accelerometer and magnetic sensor
Thanks for the help bro!  smile.gif

Glad that you fixed the issue. Save the time and cost to send for repair.

I don't have this ms3c_yamaha.cfg file. How come eh?

On XXJVK ROM though. I found yas529.cfg instead. Is that relevant?
*
Can you open the file? See what is inside it.

Looks like the Yamaha sensor file. If you wanna try, u can rename it first, then run the calibration and reboot. It should create another file after that.
